For the plans they are a changin’ TR - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I’m so glad that you loved FoP! It’s such an incredible ride! I hope that anyone else who’s nervous about trying it will give it a try with Dramamine! It’s so worth it!

I remember years ago at Disney Quest we rode an Aladdin virtual reality ride that took you through the streets of Agraba on a magic carpet. I don't think I'd taken a Dramamine and I recall being so dizzy and nauseous afterwards.
I was thinking this would be similar, so I hoped the Dramamine would do the trick.

We left at 5:50 for our dinner ADR at Narcoossee’s. A bus for MK came along soon enough, but it was very crowded. Many people, already on it, waiting to get off at Jambo, so with more people getting on, we were standing in the aisle. It was a tough exchange at Jambo because people in the back were trying to get off and those of us standing in the aisle were in the way. There were a few heated moments when a girl’s hair got caught in someone’s jacket zipper and they were trying to free her. Meanwhile the bus driver, who had no idea this was happening, was yelling for folks to go all the way to the back. But finally we were on our way. I think enough people got off so that we were able to get a seat.
When we got to MK we went to the boat dock to wait for a boat to GF. It was quite a long wait, but eventually a boat came along and we were on our way to Narcoossee’s.
We checked in and waited about 5 minutes to be seated. They had a beautiful chocolate sculpture in the lobby.
Our server was Chevy. Jeff remembered that name and thought he might have been our server when we were there years ago. Chevy said it could have been, he had been working there for 25 years! When we got home I checked our trip report and sure enough, in 2010 Chevy was our server! We had an outstanding dinner beginning with drinks – I had sangria and Jeff had white wine.
I had the fillet, which was tender and delicious! The mashed potatoes and baby squash were perfect accompaniments and so very tasty!
Jeff had the scallops over gnocchi and said it was wonderful.
We were both full and opted out of dessert.
After dinner we walked to the Grand Floridian and sat in the lobby for a while. The band was not playing but we enjoyed the piano player. We decided not to go to Mizner’s because we wanted to catch the Electrical Water Pageant and it was going to be starting soon.
So we headed outside and walked down to the marina to wait for EWP. I always like to try and see this if we’re nearby. To me, it represents the Disney of the past.
Unfortunately the photos did not turn out well. I ended up getting mostly video.
We walked back through GF to get the monorail and got a glimpse of the band which was now playing.
We got upstairs and outside just in time to get on the monorail. We ended up talking with two other couples, a little older than us, who were each celebrating their anniversary. They lived in different parts of the country (Texas and North Carolina) but planned this trip so they could get together and celebrate. They had just eaten dinner at Citricos. They were headed to AKL as well, so we continued our conversation on the bus…well Jeff continued, I rested my head on his shoulder and fell asleep.
When we got back to Kidani we were walking from the bus stop and there was a family with a little boy and he had so much energy! Usually by the end of the day kids are sleeping in their stroller or on their daddy’s shoulder. This little guy was skipping along and chattering away! I commented to his mom and she said he just got his second wind.
We got inside and stopped at Johani Treasures for a couple bananas for breakfast and…some ice cream bars!
When we got back to the room we watched the rest of Ratatouille and ate our ice cream.
The weather today was – hot but cloudy, with several rain storms
The best thing today was – Narcoossee’s
The worst thing was – the packed bus to AK
The funniest thing today was – the little boy at the end of the day with all the energy.
Today we tried – Flight of Passage
And the result was – awesome!
The most magical moment today was – missing the rain storms twice!
That was crazy on the bus! I hate these situations when they get crowded like that and have had many of these over the years, when so many people refuse to move towards the back! What is it with some people and their stubbornness? You're meal at Narccoossee's looked very good. I've ate there twice and both times a bit mixed with service and food! I think the last time was in 2010. Good memory as you knew your server from many years ago! Too bad you couldn't make it to to Mizner's as you know it's one of my favorite lounges in WDW. Good trade off with the ELP.

I know, we were hoping to get to Mizner’s, but it just didn’t work out this time!
Hopefully, next time!

If so, hopefully Tammi is tending bar as she is so good with such a good personality! I think she is one Disney uses for setting up the various bars in WDW as so experienced and knows her stuff!

In all our Disney trips, we 've never eaten at Narcoossee's but it's a place that is definitely on my radar for a future trip. Glad you got to enjoy the EWP from there and the ambiance of the GF lobby!
