Major pixies needed please [updated 4/3, post #306] - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Don't let your mom get to you. She sure sounds like she likes to push buttons, and you are a good target! Continued pixies for you and Lenny. Hopefully, with a better understanding between you guys, the MD, and the PT, he'll recover well.
The good thing is that Lenny is slowly improving. And you got what you need from the doctor to extend his leave from Home Depot.
I agree with others that your mom is just trying to rattle your chain. When you reply with your side of the arguement, she knows she is doing just what she set out to do. If you ignore her, or reply in a loving way it will confuse the heck out of her and she won't know how to respond. Have you seen the Brooks Gibbs video "How to stop a bully?" It's worth a listen, and might be a way to deal with your mom. Just my two cents.

I'm going to be blunt about your mother...do you have a sock to put in her mouth. She would drive me insane. When I had a fractured femur after one of my knee replacements I was told I couldn't work until January at the earliest...this was July. Unfortunately...or fortunately, as I see it now, I had my years in to retire so I couldn't take disability. It actually worked out wonderfully for me since I'm now in Florida , 34 miles from my happy place. Good luck with everything. Lenny will get there. But I'm telling you to put a sock in your mother's mouth.
Lenny decided to find another therapist. He was tired of her not listening to him and pushing him so much he could barely get out of there he was shaking so badly from his pain level. He was also not sleeping. Had the doctor not asked again last week about Lenny being happy with the therapist, he probably would have stayed but the more he thought about it - and how he felt on Friday afterwards (Friday night and Saturday night he barely got any sleep) - the more he was actually quite angry at her treatment of him. I wasn't there to witness anything first hand but I told him if he felt that's what he wanted to do, then he should do it. I could tell he was sleep deprived though because he got angry with me when I wouldn't let him just cancel his remaining appointments. I told him he had to make sure he had new appointments first as it's not just a simple matter of calling and saying "this is what I want." There could have been a wait list and with no old appointments and no new appointments, the Short Term Disability people could say "you're not at PT, you must be able to return to work."
Luckily that was not the case. This facility is another one here in town where we live that I didn't even know about but it's at the "health club" that got built a couple of years ago. Late last night I did the online "request an appointment" for Lenny and then this morning he actually went there. According to Lenny the secretary said "I was just getting ready to call you." So now he has an evaluation appointment for tomorrow and he has cancelled the original PT appointments he had.
Lenny said he is impressed with it - it's more "modern and state of the art" than the first place he went and "everyone was nice." I'm not sure who everyone was but I hope he gets what he's hoping for. I'm hoping he can go back to work on February 1st and if this place helps him achieve that then it'll be good he made the change.
This may be a very good thing. PT should push you, but not necessarily to the point Lenny was pushed. Also, they weren't doing some of the things needed before. I hope this is a positive change for Lenny.
Good to hear Lenny's changed PTs. Now, he (or you) need to let the office manager at the old place know WHY he's changed. They can't change if they don't know.

Yay! I'm glad he spoke up, and was able to find a new person right away. Some PTs and patients would just be a bad fit, I suppose. Here's hoping the new one will be just the right blend of demanding and compassionate.
I am glad Lenny found a place where he is more comfortable. I tell people PTs are in the middle. Respiratory therapists seem to be the hardest in terms of really pushing people (pof course you've got to breath), the PTs and finally OTs.
When I was in a LTAC hospital, the OT and PT let me skip if I wasn't feeling up to it. I learned the hars way, it was not a good idea, When I got home I began working with a home health care PT, When was very kind and encouraging but also let me know the baby steps we took together were essential. She was special and I attribute much of my recovery to her.
No surprise - Lenny won't be going back to work next Thursday. I have to be honest and say I'm getting a little tired of this but it's not my body so I don't know what he's feeling but I kept my cool today because if I hadn't, he'd be feeling quite a bit right about now and rightfully be in the hospital where he actually is.
I came home from work today and sat in the "office" where the computers are. He got up, left the room and went upstairs. A little while later, he came down and asked the question "are you driving me or calling 911?" I asked "what for?" "I'm having chest pains and they're not stopping even with the nitro." Once again, I called 911 as they're better equipped to deal with that than I am and he went off in the ambulance. Did I ever mention how thankful I am we live where we live and the ambulance is normally here is something like 5 minutes tops?
The doctor is saying it wasn't a heart attack but they're not sure what caused it so Lenny will spend the night in the hospital. I didn't rush to the hospital and I only stayed for a couple of hours. I came home for a little while to grab some things for him and I'll head back for a bit but I'm getting tired of all the medical drama. I know that alternative isn't a wonderful option but I'm still tired of it all.
And no, we're not even going there with my mother. She still talks like she's got a medical degree and knows everything so she's only ticked me off with her "it's all his fault. He's done nothing for 4 months except sit on his -----."
So yeah. That's where we are today. Thank you everyone for being there and listening. It's much appreciated.
