Let's Start at the very beginning - PTR:August 17-31 2014 - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Cool! Maybe we will see you. If you see us be sure to say Hello. PM as we get closer and maybe we will both have FP+ for the parade and could meet up there?
That sounds like a plan. I will send a PM and I will post a pre trip report soon so we can recognize each other!

I've really started to love days dedicated to pool time. I never thought of doing that until we had kids, but it's a must do now! So relaxing. And checking out AoA sounds like a good idea! The boys will love it.
Pool time and some exploring around AoA sounds like fun. Evan will LOVE the cars section, it's really great!
We have a Landry's card, and you are right, it does get you immediate seating at TRex. We had an ADR there last August, but when the hostess saw our card she told us that reservations weren't necessary. With the card, you are guaranteed to be seated within 10 minutes
I signed up for the club this week.

I wouldn't have done it in my youth but as I get older I realize the hotles have a lot to offer too and slowing down isn't always a bad thing.

I would have none done it either but kids love pools and mommy loves relaxing - something I don't get to do so much anymore

Last night I bought Evan Disney Infinity - it was on sale at Target for $40.00 - regular $75.00. He has been bugging for it and when it went on sale I couldn't resist. I think I'm going to give it to him for and end of the school year gift. I'll have to let you know how he likes it. Any of you have it?
Plans for Monday, August 25th (day 9)
After a fairly low key day, yesterday, today we will be tackling a lot of walking because we are heading to Epcot’s World Showcase, well some of it anyway.
Per the usual, I hope to arrive around rope drop and do some things in Future World for the first 2 hours, until WS opens at 11:00. I would like to get done the Land and Seas Pavilions.
I’d like to be ready at 11 to head over into WS. My plan is to take the first boat across the lagoon and over to Germany.
We have a lunch scheduled at the Biergarten at noon so we will spend the time before/after exploring Germany, viewing the train display and doing an Agent P adventure.
All of these will be new to Evan. Last visit we just had poor timing and only saw UK, Canada and a little bit of France. So touring WS is a goal for me this trip. I think Eric saw most of the countries. I plan on getting the kids passports and doing the Kidcot stops and HAVE to visit the caramel store.
The Kidcot stops (most of them) will be new for both boys as will the Biergarten. I think they will enjoy this. It is just totally different than anything they have experienced. With the buffet I suppose they will be fine for the meal. I did this with my parents back on our first visit to Epcot. I remember it wasn’t a buffet and it was the first time I had veal. I liked it OK but now that I know how they make veal, I refuse to eat it.
I originally thought about doing Teppan Edo in Japan as I thought the boys would like the “show” of them cooking in front of you. But about a year ago a hibachi grill restaurant opened near us. We have gone a few times so it is no longer just something “special” that they could only get on vacation. So I thought about it a little more and came up with Biergarten.
We did one Kim Possible mission last trip (UK) and it was just a disaster – we didn’t know the characters, it was too noisy to hear the clues, too many kids trying to share, it was the end of the trip so patience was wearing thin…I’m hoping this is a much better experience. Agent P will be new for all of us.
After our lunch and exploring Germany I want to walk back toward FW so we will explore the Outpost – I still want to get a necklace made out of the beads of the recycled park maps – do they still have those? Then we will stop in China, Norway and Mexico. I’m sure we will do the rides in both Norway and Mexico but not sure if we will watch the film in China. I’d like to but we will have to see how the boys are doing. I do want to see the Terra Cotta warriors. My mom went to China twice on vacation and has pictures of the warriors and Evan is fascinated by them.
We have no major plans tonight so I figured we will leave Epcot whenever we get too tired. If we finished what I have listed above and we still have any energy, we may head back into FW and do some more stuff or circle around and do some more countries. I have the behind the seeds tour in the back of my mind as an option as well.
At this point we are free – no plans for the rest of the day. I’ll sort of let the boys dictate what they want to do tonight. We may head back into a park, try out Typhoon Lagoon, rest at the hotel ~doubtful~ maybe Disney Quest or back to DTD for a movie or bowling. It really is open. If they are bugging to get on something we haven’t done yet or repeat something we already did.
We have no dinner plans so we will eat whenever, wherever the mood strikes us. We may even split up. Hopefully by now Mom and Eric have gotten the lay of the lands so if I go somewhere with Evan they will be able to do something too. Also sounds like a good time to do some laundry. Although we would most likely have already done some as I’m only planning on packing about 5 outfits for this trip, maybe 6. With the summer heat usually my morning clothes are so sweaty that I want to change into fresh clothes after the afternoon swim time.
So that is it, have some Epcot time today and a whole evening with NO plans. This could still be a backup day to the Pirate and Pals Cruise for rain or if something later in the week looks liked it might get rained out we could move it up to tonight.
Firsts:
Evan – Agent P, Biergarten, Most of the Epcot Countries and Kidcot stops
Me – Agent P, Caramel Shop, having a night with nothing planned (see I can go non-commando style)
Mom – Agent P
Eric – Agent P, Biergarten
Love the plans for your relaxing day and your Epcot day sounds perfect. My kids loved the passports and hte kidcot stations, last year when we brought my neice she had a ball.
What a great end of the school gift - the girls got Disney Infinity for Christmas last year and they love it.
