Mom & Me, Work & Fun PTR (Sept. 7-14, 2013) - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Would you like me to tell you where we are or would you like some more hints to try and figure it out?? I'll give you some more hints and if you want me to tell you I will.
We are not near Santa Fe (it's 2 1/2 hours to Santa Fe as well ) and our drive to Denver is about 6 1/2 hours (Sometimes it only takes 6 because we are heading to the south end of Denver). We are also 2 1/2 hours from Lubbock, TX and 1 1/2 hours away from Roswell (and no we have not seen any aliens )
LOL...I had you north, now I am thinking East...maybe Portales area? If so then you are really close to me!
No aliens in Roswell... I have not seen anythere either when I have traveled through!
Close, we are in Fort Sumner. Pat works in Clovis at the base when he is in the country. Where are you at?
Amarillo...hi neighbor!
Been to and through Fort Sumner many times...last time passing through there with my family from Colorado...had to do the whole Billy the Kid touring with them.

I don't really have much to update today. Here is my list of what I am hoping to get done between now and when I leave.
Today - School with the kids, vacuum and dust front room and living room, work on laundry
Saturday - Haul trash to the dump, vacuum/dust Family room and hall, while kids clean their bedrooms
Sunday - Pack shirts, socks, underwear, pj's, swimsuit (anything I don't need like my capris, since I'm losing weight I only have 3-4 pair, I will wash them on Thursday)
Monday - School (Since the kids are taking 2 1/2 weeks off, we are having school on Labor Day), finish any cleaning
Tuesday - School, pest guy comes to spray the house, Shana's art class in Roswell, hit Sam's Club for fruits and frozen foods for Pat and the kids while I'm gone. Fill up my van (Roswell has the cheapest gas of anywhere I have seen, must be all those "alien" spaceships coming to fill up ) My order from Best Buy should be arriving.
Wednesday - Drive to Albuquerque to get Pat. He will arrive late on Tuesday and stay at a hotel that night. We will get lunch at our favorite BBQ place (yes, not good for the diet). We also have to pick up some things Pat ordered to fix things up on the property.
Thursday - Pat has to go to work. Shana has a mani & pedi at 11am and I have one at 1pm. The kids will be at the school from 12:30-3:30. I will use this time to finish all my laundry, put the final things in the suitcase. Clean up anything needing it in the house.
Friday - I'm planning to leave about 8, that should get me to the south side of Denver around 2-3. I am going to hit the American Girl store for some Christmas items for Shana. I also need to visit the Container Store for some things for my bathroom. I'm meeting my hairstylist at her house at 5:30 for a cut and color. My mom and I will get dinner somewhere. I will try to get to bed early, but that rarely happens.
That is my crazy week in a nutshell.
I also wanted to share our fun that happened last night. We got 36 chicks right after returning from Disney in April. We actually started with 41, but we lost 5. We have been taking care of them and they are really quite fun, they really have unique personalities and are very friendly. Pat insisted they wouldn't start laying until he was back since they are suppose to start laying around 6 months. Well, I kept telling him we had "advanced" chickens. They started getting out of the brooder two weeks before they should have, they started flying over the fence weeks before they should and the roosters have been crowing for a month now and they aren't suppose to crow until around the time the chickens start to lay. I told Pat they would start laying the week before he got home.
Well, guess what? Yep, you guessed it, we got our first egg last night! Shana went out to put them to bed and she checked the makeshift nesting boxes Pat told me to make out of large cat litter boxes and she found an egg. It's funny, we knew they were going to start laying, but it's really cool. Shana wants to wait to cook it until Daddy gets home. Which is a bummer because I really want to cook it up. Oh and I get to tell Pat I was right, we got the first egg 6 days before he will be home.
Sounds like your days are busy but you are organized.
Congrats on the single digit dance.
I going to wish you a Bon Voyage now as I'm heading to the shore for a week(not sure if I am bringing my laptop) so I will miss your send off.
Have a safe and magical trip

While at AG store...I think I would need to check out the Cheesecake Factory as well... really not good for the diet!
That is my crazy week in a nutshell.
Not so crazy but really busy...I think I like when things are busier...I stay away from mindless eating and time goes by fast!
Been to and through Fort Sumner many times...last time passing through there with my family from Colorado...had to do the whole Billy the Kid touring with them.
Ah yes, we are not that far, I think Amarillo is about 3 hours. Believe it or not we have lived here since Dec. 2011 and I have yet to visit the Billy the Kid museum or gravesite. I guess I keep thinking we live here we will get there eventually.
Next time you drive through you will have to let me know and stop and say "hi"!
Sounds like your days are busy but you are organized.

I do love Cheesecake Factory. Although on my last trip we hit the White Chocolate Grill and it was to die for. It's so hard when I go to Denver, I want to visit all my favorite places.
I like to stay busy as well, the more I have to do keeps me from things I shouldn't be doing.
Congrats on no cavities, the egg, single digits, and the weight loss! I have no doubt you'll get to your goal before the trip, you're so close already! My mom's neighbor raises chickens and is constantly giving them eggs. I really think the fresh eggs taste better.
How funny! Yes, let Pat know that you were right! lol
Hope your crazy week goes as planned and flies by!
I have been watching my FB page all day waiting to see if Pat logs on and comments on the egg pic on there. He apparently is busy today, because he has not been on at all and I'm sure he is asleep by now.
I actually add things I "need" to do to keep it "crazy" that way time flies.

on the cavities! on the egg! on the single digits and on the weight loss!
I'm sure I will get below the 220 mark, if not, I'm okay I have 6 months before the next trip. We are planning to have an egg taste off. I will cook up some store bought eggs and the fresh eggs and everyone will taste them blindfolded and see which are better. I'm sure fresh will win.
I just got a call from my mom and if everyone could please send some pixies. She was in a semi-minor car accident tonight. She seems to be alright but is planning to visit our chiropractor before the trip just in case. A 17-year-old girl turned left in front of her, there was another car blocking her view and she wasn't able to see my mom (my mom was doing about 35 at the time). My mom said at first she got out of the car cussing (her car pays off in December), but the young girl started crying and saying how sorry she was and my mom hugged her and said it was going to be okay. They did call the cops and she got a ticket and my mom told her the important thing is that she learns to double check to make sure it's clear before turning.
I think my mom responded this way because I was 16 when I got in a wreck, a 17yo girl ran a red light and totaled my car. I learned to always make sure everyone comes to a full stop before going.
I'm sure my mom will be fine, but I know how sometimes we feel fine when we leave and the next morning wake up feeling like a train ran over you. So, pixies that she is really okay. She can't have back or neck problems, or I probably won't be able to drag her on Expedition Everest.
Oh, I also forgot one thing on my to-do list for tomorrow. I have to get up at 4am and book our ADR's for our February trip.
for your Mom! You're right, you often don't really know if you're hurt or not until the next day (or later!). Hope she's ok. Good luck with the ADRs for February. I still haven't done anything about mine for February-- we're almost in sync with these trips, until you changed your cruise!
