PTR....Universal Adventures of Dreams and an Expanding world part 2 - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Cute outfit - glad it finally arrived. Enjoy the fact that Claire will still wear those outfits - she's probably getting close to the point of saying "No way, Mom!"

I am so glad it came. I was really starting to think I got ripped off. I guess you live and learn, but I do now know to ask a few more questions before buying from someone I do not know. I have a feeling she has some regular customers and she works with those people with undivided attention.
I seem to find that to be a theme with some other sellers too. Also with pricing. I have been sent to a few, knowing a price for something and then ask about getting it, and my price is $25- to $50 more. I do not buy from those people.
Things are getting a little exciting! A few weeks back I found out that one of my co-workers, Stephanie, is going to be down at Disney with her trip overlapping mine. We both are doing the MNSSHP the dame day. So of course we do plan to try and meet up. I have never met her in real life yet, since we all work online. Then yesterday another co-worker, Jeanne, who I have mentioned every so often, told me she is also going to be at that party as well. I am so excited to meet up with her as well. Then our Boss, Michelle, caved yesterday and bought a flight down because of the southwest sale. She is still not 100%, but I do hope she goes and goes to the party as well...as there will be another meet. And then this morning I saw a message from one more co-worker, Lynne, and she is going to the same party as well....AND she is sailing the Dream the same dates as I am as well. I am very excited for all these potential meets!

I goofed again last night. Claire and I went for a walk and I was telling her about the possible meets with all my co-workers. then I said "Oh another lady, Ellen, is staying at Animal Kingdom too, and she said she might show us her room". Claire caught it right away too. She still is not sure exactly where, but I'm sure she has a good idea. Without seeing a picture, it's not visually coming to her. I tried to play it off that we would se Ellen at AK park. She wasn't buying it at all.
I can't imagine ever planning a surprise trip for her. I would never pull it off. :scared: I can't even keep this one small secret.
I think I might start working on the pillow cases today. I keep putting them off because it is messy, but I just want to get them done and out of the way. I have to decide how to tie dye them too, so that we can still get clear signatures on them.
WOW, you are going to be busy, make that VERY busy, meeting with your friends. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Yes, but first and foremost is for us to enjoy the parks. I don't plan long meets. I actually have suggested to many of them to perhaps meet up for breakfast the next day.
Today is 90 days til lI sail on the Dream. That also means as a Castaway Club member I can make my excursions and Palo diing.
I stayed up till midnight last night to do this. I really wanted palo Brunch for me and my parents. I have never booked this before for myself or anyone else, so I was a little nervous about doing it. The website has also changed since las year when I cruised, so I knew I might have to play around a bit to find my way to where I needed to go.
I logged in at a few minutes after midnight and my stupid browser was NOT behaving and I gave up soon and tried another on and easily got through.
I booked Palo Brunch for myself on our sea day at 12:30 PM. I actually had a few choices of times, which I was relieved about. It would not allow me to book more than 1 person for my room though, because I am the only adult in it, so I went back in under My Mom's account and was able to snag them the 12:30 brunch as well. I will call today and have it noted that we want to be at the same table. I actually didn't even tell my parents about it yet. This is going to be my treat to them.
I would like to try dinner someday, but with a short cruise, I didn't want to miss any of the rotation or our first time trying the pirate menu.
While in there, I also made my excursion plans...subject to change.
I ended up chosing the Ardastra Gardens in Nassau. It's like a bird zoo with a few monkey type animals too I believe. I had thought about going to Atlantis to tour the Dig ( the aquarium), but I have also been looking at this for awhile (even last year), and I think this might be more fun for Claire right now. The only downfall is that it starts at 12:45. I would like it to be earlier, but I really don't want to try and find it on my own either at this point in time.
The next one I made is for our CC day. I made the Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure. Claire was interested in this, and they have snorkling in the lagoon after as well. Claire really wants to snorkle, and I think this will give her a nice chance to give it a try since she is beginner. 9 AM was open, but I know how Claire is, and waking up early is not her strong suite, so I made it for 10 instead.
I still need to do actual check in and pick a port arrival time, but I am waiting till the time comes around for everyone to be able to do it in our group so we can all board at the same time. Though I suppose I could just wait for them if I get an earlier time.
So another thing is check off my to do list!
Oh, and I didn't get to bed till 1 AM then last night...and at 6:25 this morning the phone rings. That scares the heck out of you. No one was on the line, but I could hear movement. I hung up and went to find the cordless and read the caller ID. It was Paige, so I called back and it went to voice mail. I left a message and asked if she "butt dialed" me. Sure enough shortly after I got a sorry text, it was a "butt dial".
Good luck with the rest of the plans and score on Palo!
that is scary - glad it was a Butt dial
Yes, one of my fears was that perhaps Paige got in a accident and couldn't talk or was only able to dial or something.
I triedfor a nap today, I only got a cat nap, and I am still tired...is it time for eed yet?
Just caught up on this PTR....Claire's outfit is cute but I could see how you would be going crazy having to wait 10 weeks. She didn't wait that long tospend her money. Lol. Your cruise plans sound lovely. Can't wait to hear more.
