Wait!!! Wasn't this supposed to be a weekend trip? TR COMPLETE 11/2 - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The girls have way more energy reserves than me as well but they were having such a great time, it really was one of Angel's favorite evenings.
So I forgot to post one thing about the previous evening. When we got back to the room Jasmine was watching some television, I wondered why she had not gone to sleep, well it seems that Jasmine realized that she forgot her Blackberry charger in the first room, and the idea of her phone dying and she not having communication had put her in a bit of a tizzy. I told her I would head down to the front desk in the morning to see if they had found it which relaxed her a bit.
Then Angel who finally got tired on the bus was wide away when she realized that she had some deliveries, namely the basket from Betsy that I had ordered her .
She dug into her basket, she was so happy to see Baby Dumbo which we just never got a chance to pick up even though it was on her list year after year. He joined Duffy each night with her in her bed. She also was supre excited about the Epcot passport as ever since she lost her original one she wanted to do another one for her memory box.
Now I got a bit of a suprise as well as there were some other delivieries that I had not idea about...DisneyDani had ordered her a beautiful pixie dusted rainbow rose that was waiting for her, as well as a gift card which put a smile on her face.
The rose was so beautiful, every morning Angel made sure that I added water to its little container, the rose lasted through the whole week, when we got home she froze the rose and hung all the ribbons in her room.
Even thought it was almost three Angel had to display all her gifts for a picture.
I think I finally got her to sleep around 3:30 and I climbed into bed knowing it was going to be an early morning.
Now to continue on....
Day 3 July 30 - Part I
Last night on the bus as we were standing heading to the resort, we had stopped short and I suddenly felt a shooting pain in my knee, I have always had bad issues with my knee so I figured that maybe all the walking and then standing on the bus with the short stop might have pulled something but by the time I got to the resort it felt fine.
I do remember throughout the night feeling this cramp in my knee, enough so that it woke me up, but it wasn't a shooting pain so I would just move it to a better position and then go back to sleep. So waking up that morning to find my knee three times the size as my other did not put a smile on my face.
Jasmine was pretty worried, she wanted to know if I wanted to go to well care, I told her I was fine and truth be told standing and walking on it did not bother it, the only time I felt any pain or cramping was when I bent it so I figured as long as I did not bend it I would be fine. I wasn't going to let this stop me plus we had some company coming.
Now I have to do a little explaining here, Angel's bestest friend from home travels all summer so they never get to see each other. She spends about a month and a half in Antigua with family then a few weeks in Florida with her aunt. So her friend (who knew about the surprise) was hoping that she would be in Florida when we got there. So I promised to call her when we got there.
Now it seems that her grandmother stayed in Antigua longer so her friend was staying with her aunt and uncle who live over an hour away. Nowthe plans were we hoped that they would be coming to the park on one of the days we were there, but her aunt had taken her to MK for a day the week earlier, her aunt was not able to make another park day so we decided to surprise both the girls and she was going to drive her to meet us at the resort, she would stay with us the night, and her aunt would pick her back up the following evening when she headed to the airport to pick up her mom instead of what the girls thought which was that she was going to come and spend a half a day with us.
I had spoken to member services who were great, they told me just to go to the front desk, they added her on for the evening and we were set. Now even with gong to sleep Angel was up and ready at 8 am when I went down to meet her. You had to see the excitement when her friend Caleigh got out of the car...you would think they had not seen each other in years. So we told then the surprise which made then both even happier and after grabbing her bag and her ticket / food money from her aunt we headed upstairs to get Jasmine with a stop at concierge to fill out a lost and found form for Jasmine's charger.
We dropped off her stuff, grabbed the park bag and even with leaving a bit later than planned we still made it to DHS by 9:20. I stopped to pick Caleigh up a 2 day park ticket and we headed in. I was going to head off for TSMM FP's but Jasmine was still really worried about my knee so she went ahead to grab them.
By the time we made it over to her she had got them for 5:45 - 6:45 (at 9:30 am - still can't get over that even still how fast those FPs go). Now here is my #1 lesson learned, I am so used to how we travel that having someone else with different dynamics meant a different kind of touring day. Now Caleigh is the sweetest little girl but while my girls love to leisurely wander, Caleigh who does not get to spend a lot of time here wanted rides so after wandering a bit I knew we needed to do some attractions. Now I have no complaints, we loved having her with us, I just wish I had known what day she was coming as I probably would have picked another park to head too as by trying to do things that Caleigh wanted to see we missed alot that we usually enjoy.
So the first attraction we headed to was the GMR and finally, after so many hopes had been dashed I finally got to ride the Cowboy side...I know I was a little extreme in my excitement but I have always wanted to try this side and no matter how many times I rode it, even trying various times during the day I have neve gotten the opportunity, so after telling Caleigh she was my good luck charm I sat back to enjoy...and I loved it!!! Jasmine and Angel love this ride and Caleigh who had never been to this park loved it as well.
We then decided to hit the Animations Studio, we bypassed the little movie and headed straight to the class, we had a 15 minute wait but it went quickly as the girls were busy talking and they all found it pretty funny watching me try to get down to the floor to sit, and then stand back up without bending my knee...Jasmine was not happy at how bad it was still swollen but I reassured her again that it was fine.
We drew Donald Duck, Caleigh really loved this and my girls always enjoy it. They all wanted to head back later to try it again. We then headed to Star Tours which was down so we decided to head back later. Jasmine wanted to see American Idol but we still had time until the first show and Angel who had told Caleigh all about TOT prompted Caleigh to say "can we go to TOT now" over and over so I thought best to make my way over there.
Now I asked Angel if she would be ok going alone with Caliegh, she has done this ride tons of times but if she really wanted me to ride I would. Before I hurt my neck I was so excited to ride as I missed it last year as Angel rode with her cousin and Aunt while I sat out with Jasmine but it was on my not to miss this year list, but I was unsure with my neck issue.
Angel said she would be fine so we all walked through the queue, and after almost going on as Caleigh was a bit nervous, she then reassured me that she would be fine and I headed down with Jasmine while the girls took their drop.
The girls came out of he ride and Caleigh proclaimed it her favorite ride and they wanted to go on again. I told them that we would ride it later as I wanted to do something that Jasmine wanted to do...but it was so hot, and the girls were dragging and Jasmine said, "why don't we head back to the resort and the pool for a bit?", which the girls jumped at.
Now all the way back on the bus I wondered what was behind Jasmin offering to head back to the pool so early (it was about noon) and then it clicked as we were getting off the bus Jasmine said "hey mom, can you go and check about my charger?" and too think I thought Jasmine was just concerned about the girls being hot.
While the girls went upstairs to change for the pool I stopped at concierge again. I spoke to the CM at the desk who said nothing had been turned in, I started getting worried as I did not want to think of Jasmine's mood once her battery died (and thus no texting or FB ability to communicate with a specific friend - if you can all catch my drift )
Jasmine and "specific friend" at prom
Well as I was walking away a CM called me over, her name was Donna and she was an angel who saved this trip from the wrath of a teenage girl with no communication to the world outside the Disney bubble...
She said I overheard your conversation, what kind of phone is it? I told her a Blackberry then she said let me make a call...
She asked if I would be able to get over to the Contemporary, I told her I would be there for dinner tonight, the next thing I know she gave me the name of the person to see at the Business Office at the convention center at the Contemporary where they would be holding a Blackberry Universal Charger that I could purchase, and it was not badly priced, $25 was a great rate in order to put a smile back on Jasmine's face. I think I thanked her profusely like 10 times as I walked away.
I made it up to the room and the girls were dressed and ready, I told Jasmine about the charger and her face lit up as her Blackberry was on its last bar (enter the scary movie music now....) I know, a clamaity of unknown proportions...
I told her to give her fingers (and battery a rest) and they headed down to the pool and I told them I would get changed and meet them there shortly.

I fear the wrath of a teenage girl without her phone! Mine's only 11, but I'm already being pestered with "Mom, can I have a phone? Mom, can I have a phone? Mom, can I have a phone?
