Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Your pictures were amazing! Especially one of the Italy ones - postcard material I tell you!
It sounded like you had a perfect last day - well, except for the leaving part. My in-laws are enjoying their last moments in Epcot right now too.

Do it! Solo trips are so much fun! But also, addictive.

Morocco is a new favorite of mine, now, too! And I'd definitely sign a petition. I'm going to ask about resort merchandise in every resort gift shop I visit!

DBF has a cell phone issue that drives me crazy. He has his on most of the time, but he only checks his voice mail like once a week! Kind of defeats the purpose, if you ask me

I didn't even realize you were from NY! I don't know how I missed it, but we're almost neighbors.

I really am starting to like the idea of a solo trip so I can do everything I want (and skip the things I don't) at my own pace. For TT, we usually take the single riders line. Sometimes the wait for the regular line (and even FP line) seems to be more than quadruple that of the single riders line. We'd gladly save over an hour over the option of sitting together.

Can't wait to read your final thoughts, although I am sad that the TR is over! I really, really enjoyed it!
The camera is 10.0 MP. And I usually don't even bother leaving DM a voicemail. I agree, TT single rider line is almost always a short wait. Even when it's posted at like 40 minutes. The most I've ever waited is maybe 10 minutes.

I am really irked about the no resort specific merch--SOMEBODY is going to hear from me.

Hope to see you soon!
Sorry about that Larry! But it's happened to all of us, believe me! At least you can get a decent substitute for a NWJ. Unlike some of the awesome food porn that others post! Definitely let Disney know you want resort specific merchandise. It's bad enough we don't get WDW or DL specific merchandise any more. I don't like this trend.

sorry to see your trip coming to an end, but I know another is right behind it. I will be there this weekend for 4 days, a quick get away before the Semester starts up.
Perhaps I will finally get to meet Princess Sharon and.... the young Princes that will be joining in the fun and sun.
I thought about bringing one of my nephews , who now have summer/afterschool jobs.. so it makes it harder to plan with them in mind.
Those fish crack me up! And we'll be around! Please say hi if you see us! I love meeting PPers!

I told Eric that my friend Sharon said we could ask for row 1 in Soarin and that just made his day. He keeps saying for me not to forget to ask LOL
When I first met you that was our day to lounge around WS and take it all in and its just wonderful to be able to do that and admire the architecture...I it!

That NWJ is just AMAZING! Although I was thinking you were going to have to eat that fudge to save it.... I would have ate that fudge to save it from a horrible melting death
Freckles??? NO Flippin Way???? seriously?? wow...that is hilarious!
I cannot wait to hear about this new trip and really enjoyed reading this one...really what I enjoyed were your pictures! Wow BTW I keep waiting to hear you on the Podcast...you should totally do the Podcast about ABD or Disney pro picture taker LOL
Crissy! You can definitely ask for the front row. As long as you're nice, they won't say no. You just might have to wait a few minutes for the next cycle. You just ask the CM who assigns you to row 1, 2 or 3. I was thinking about eating the fudge, but that excuse wouldn't have gotten me off the hook with DM. I would've had to quickly find a place to buy more!

One of my goals for this trip is to explore WS more...We miss so much just breezing thru it!
Your No Way Jose brought back some memories...yummy...Altho this time we are going to try the kitchen sink...we may lose our nerve and I may be dreaming of that No Way Jose...maybe we will go twicelol
That is too funny sitting next to "Freckles" again...what are the odds????
My mother would of said the same thing if I brought back one piece of fudge...diet or not...what she doesn't realize is I don't want to eat a pound by myself if she decides to really stick to her DIET!
Italy next year??? WOW!! My Uncle and Aunt took 2 of their 4 kids a few years ago and had an amazing time! I want to go sometime but I need to go to Puerto Rico and Ireland first...someday!!!
Can't wait to hear your ramblins...and your next TR
I used to be guilty of breezing past the pavilions in WS, too. Then when I explored ones like Canada and Morocco, they became favorites! And we are going to tackle the Kitchen Sink! Hopefully, we have enough people to polish that sucker off! And your DM sounds like mine! I'm so glad she's responsible for her own fudge purchases this time! PR and Ireland are both on my bucket list! I think I'll get to PR sooner, though!

Love your pic's from Morocco. I still want to get one with ToT in the back since they painted it to not clash with the Morocco pavilion.

Looking fowrd to seeing the Anime in Japan. Two of our Tokyo travelers are into it big time and in fact one wants to make it her prafession. She's not too bad either.

Looking forward to your final thoughts.
Lorie, I'll be happy to go in AA with you! Come to think of it, I don't think they're anything that I wouldn't do. And I do remember they updated the movie in China in I want to say 2003? But I think they reused a lot of footage. When you watch the film, some of that stuff looks old! But I guess because of the political climate in China, there's some things they don't want to/can't update.

Speaking of our Tokyo trip, we should arrange a chat or something so we can all get to know each other a little!

My mom's cell phone habits drive me nuts! And my Dad is even worse! He doesn't even have voicemail set up, so when you call him and he doesn't answer (which is about 50/50), it just rings forever! Drives me crazy!!

I can practically hear them saying "cheese." It was funny to run into Freckles again. I forgot to say that we talked for a bit and he told me that he and his wife/girlfriend had been shopping for the weekend. Like I said to Janice, I almost expect to see him the next time I fly!

Final Thoughts And Ramblings

It was nice to have a short but sweet weekend trip. I really wanted to see the special Summer Nightastic events and was glad I was able to do so before they ended. The Main Street Electrical Parade has been extended, and even though I saw it, I’m thrilled about that. I love that parade!

It was also great to get to spend some time with Heather, Brandon and Blake and to help Heather celebrate her 30th birthday. I loved having the company for this solo trip, and I always enjoy spending time with Heather! It was great to finally get to meet Brandon after hearing/reading so much about him, and he and Blake were a lot of fun to hang with also. I also really loved getting to spend some more time with Wendy and meeting her DM and DS. They are all so wonderful and it was great touring the parks a bit with them. I got to meet Jill and her family for the first time this trip, which was a thrill for me. I’ve read about Jill’s family for a couple years and it was nice to meet them in person (the kids are even more stinkin’ adorable in person ). I hope to be able to hang with Jill and crew again some day!

The Firsts:

Even on a very quick trip, I still managed a couple of firsts, which proves how much stuff there truly is to experience at Disney, and how much is always changing! Of course the stuff I did wasn’t new (except to me), but still.

First time dining at Narcoossee’s
First time seeing Si Xian in China

Transportation:

Southwest Airlines – As always, I am completely happy with my SWA experience. And using Resort Airline Check-in on my return made it so simple that I checked a bag I would’ve carried on. My flight landed early on arrival, and only 5 minutes late returning home, when the delay was expected to be longer. I love Southwest!

Disney Transportation – Frankly, the bus service from the Epcot resorts leaves a lot to be desired. In my opinion, the buses all make too many stops and are often very crowded. Luckily, the close proximity to two parks makes you only about half as dependent on buses as other resorts, so that does make up for it.

The Beach Club:

The Beach Club used to be my second favorite resort (it’s been ousted by the Polynesian). I love the resort, I love Stormalong Bay, and I love the proximity to Epcot and the Studios. I had a fantastic room in a great location (one of the drawbacks of the BC is the winding and seemingly endless hallways). I had a perfect stay, and it won’t be long before I return.

The Food:

Even for a quick 3-day weekend trip, I still managed 3 table service meals. I returned to a couple of old favorites and was thrilled to finally get to try a restaurant that had been on my “to do” list for far too long.

Cape May Café – This is one of my favorite character buffets. Because it’s somewhat out of the way, it’s easy to get into, and the characters usually have plenty of time to play. The food is better at other buffets, but I love the characters (and their outfits) a lot!

Narcoossee’s – I’ve heard such great things about this place (and seen such great food porn) that I’d been eager to try it for a while. It must have been meant to be this time, because I just invited myself along, and Heather kindly invited me to join them at any of their ADRs. She just happened to have made an ADR here on the day I’d be with them. After all the anticipation, I’m happy to say that I really enjoyed the food and will most definitely be back someday soon.

Beaches and Cream – This is an old favorite, even if I just visit for ice cream, as I did this time. Unfortunately, I never finish my food, but that’s because the portion sizes are huge. Also, I either get a burger before eating ice cream or (as I did this time ) eat lunch somewhere else and just come in for dessert. It’s a cute little place that I just love visiting, and it makes a great farewell experience as well.

The Parks:

It’s been a very hot summer here (well, practically everyone can say that this year ) so I was used to the heat, and it didn’t feel as hot to me as it might have. It also helped that I avoided the parks during the hottest and most crowded part of the day. Because of that, I was able to get a lot done, and it never seemed like the parks were crowded.

The Summer Nightastic events were terrific and I’m glad I got to see them. The fireworks were amazing, the parade was fantastic, and the dance party at DHS was fun. I also loved seeing my TOT with its new lighting effects and special effects inside, but I did miss the random drop sequences and will be happy to have that back!

So that’s it! Short (kinda ) and sweet! Thanks so much for reading! Talk to you soon. Really soon.

Great last day, I love the last flight of the day, lets you have a nice portion of the last day to enjoy instead of feeling like you are waking up and saying goodbye . Last August we got stuck with a 12:30 DME pickup so we did not have too much time to enjoy, so lgad we were able to get a 8:30 for this trip

Too funny about your mom and her reaction to the one piece of fudge, I agree I do not see the maple walnut fudge as often as the others, the place in DHS I have seen it quite frequently, wonder if they still carry it there as often.

Can't wait to hear your final thoughts....

See you soon

Fabulous Trip Report. Keep them coming.

Can't wait to try and find a year where I can take a few short trips and spread the magic out a bit.

Great final thoughts. I definitely agree about the bus system at the Epcot resorts...it needs to be changed. Those resorts are too big to have one bus/per park traveling to all of them. Hopefully I'll like BC just as much as you did!
