Live, Laugh, Relax with Cam and Fam Completed 7/31 - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I loved your pictures from Lights! I took a lot of pictures of this show when we watched it last year.
Before I saw this show, I didn't really think it would interest me, but now I think it's one of my favorites.
I bet Stefanie's MawMaw sure was when she saw the lime green shirt!
That Stefanie, she's a sneaky one!
Mamaw just rolled her eyes, but Stefanie is so cute in it that everyone, even Mamaw loves it on her.

If he loves cars, he'll find so much of this show exciting.

Another great update. LMA is still on my never done list. We missed it again in September. Hopefully I will catch in December. Great action pics too!
Have fun in Evansville getting all your scrapbook supplies. Have you posted any pages yet or have you had time to start yet?
I have started Stefanie's 8.5 x8.5 album of the trip, but I'm only about 17 pages into it. I have at least 40 pages more to do in this one. When I finish it, I'll post pictures in the Spare Room.

so much! I teach English and have always worked for myself and my students to write in such a way that we bring our audience along with us.

That's it exactly. Just move to a shorter line. If not, don't blame me for looking ahead and choosing wisely.

Another thing we'll need to hit this time - LMA looks a lot more cool than I thought it would be. I always love Indiana Jones, so I'm sure I'll like this one, too.
Mamaw loved the t-shirt on Stefanie. Though she did roll her eyes when Stefanie reminded her that she didn't like lime green. I like cars, Luke loves cars, and this show appeals to both of us. I think you'd like it.

Hmmm - well, I did see you pull out of the parking lot at Green Hills Mall, so maybe Luke was right about you taking your corners like a stunt driver... Oh wait - that was Luke driving, wasn't it?

I have a Son DSLR-A100, alpha series . Luke got it for me a couple of years ago and I am gradually getting much better at taking action shots with it. Luke and I are both impressed with the quality of all the pictures it takes.

Can't wait to read your review of Summer Night-tastic! I'm so bummed that Spectro is gone . My very favorite; so, I hope I enjoy the new programing!
I Spectro, too, but Disney's Electrical Parade was very good, too.
I have been too busy to catch up on TR the last few days--wow I have missed a lot! I am all caught u with yours. Thank you so much for sharing all of the great photos. We are staying at BC for the first time this August, and the photos of your resort gave me the chills!
I am not a "parade" person, but your photos of the DHS block party made me wonder if we should try to squeeze it in....
Next: Is SummerNightastic all it is hyped up to be?
We made friends on the bus ride to TTC when the Dad, who was standing and listening to all three of his kids yak, mentioned that we had a very quiet kid. Luke and I both replied that this was highly abnormal and we couldn’t explain it. Stefanie continued to sit mute on my lap while Luke and I chatted the remainder of the ride with him and his wife. This was their first full day, and like us, they wanted to see the parade and fireworks. At TTC we all headed to the monorail, but Stef moved slowly, and by the time we got to the monorail it was full. A CM directed us to a standing room only car, but Luke and I both said that Stefanie wouldn’t be able to stand. The car that was available just happened to have our bus buddies and they made room for us. Now that is a bit of Disney magic from one guest to another. Stefanie sat on my lap again, but she was no longer mute. She told many stories to our bus-now-monorail buddies. They loved them all!
We arrived at Magic Kingdom about 10 minutes prior to Disney’s Electrical Parade, as named on the train float (but that won’t be visible until Day 2 in my pictures). Now I was having second thoughts about my need to be present on the first night of SummerNightastic as Stefanie had wanted to return to the Beach Club, saying her feet were tired. Remember I had carried her to the DHS bus stop. We had walked very slowly from the MK bus stop to the park, hence our moments-before arrival. It was extremely hot and we were all tired and sweaty. But Luke reassured me that he got it. We’ve never been to Disney on the first day or night of anything, so it would be worth it. I did bribe Stefanie with a visit to the Emporium, and she rallied enough to smile and have a positive attitude.
We had entered through the tunnel and under the arches into MK bringing us out at Exhibition Hall. We found an okay spot on the porch and Luke ran for a coke for Stefanie who was thirsty again (actually we all were). We talked while we waited for Luke and the parade. An older gentleman in a rocker asked me if Stefanie had Turner’s syndrome to which I replied, “No Hurler’s Syndrome, but they might be related I was a bit shocked as both have similar qualities. We discovered that he had a grandchild with Turner’s. Then he gave up his seat for us two. I’m getting teary eyed just remembering it. He was such a sweet man! Later Stefanie would give him one of her special thank you cards and he promised to keep it with him always.
As the parade started we stood up and Stefanie had a decent view. More magic for our first day! She did keep asking about specific Spectro floats and why they weren’t in the parade this night. We all loved the parade! I did miss Spectro, but this one is definitely good. So now on with some pictures. [Disclaimer: Because of our position this night and even though I took loads of pictures, only a few of them are clear enough or free from the crowds to include here. But don’t worry! We saw the parade again the next night in prime seats in Frontierland and I got awesome shots then.]
A little blurry, but you can tell it’s Tinker Bell. Stefanie squealed when she saw her.
Cinderella in her pumpkin carriage – Fairy Godmother is riding on the back
Prince Charming and Wicked Stepsister Anastasia
Pete’s Dragon – I’m so proud of this one as you can clearly see the smoke coming from his nostrils.
I do promise more and better pictures in a future update!
By the way, Stefanie drank all, but a few Mommy sips of her drink, so she must have been nearly dehydrated.
For the SummerNightastic Fireworks, we moved to the Main Street Train Station as we had seen a number of folks leave this area after the parade and we were hoping for better viewing. We quickly met another kind couple who was from Ft. Lauderdale. They visit frequently (already close to 20 times this year) and they totally get the magic. We discussed some of our favorite WDW things and time moved quickly. At one point, Stefanie said, “Mom, you talk too much. Mom, you’re ignoring me!” Too funny as for once I was getting in the conversation and she wasn’t.
What can I say about the fireworks – AWESOME! Wishes is good, these were even better!
Luke took all the fireworks pictures this night.
Our location provided us with a truly spectacular view, but the roof over us also held in all the heat and humidity. We were all three soaked through by the time we descended. We were all three tired, but it was so wonderful, so worthy it to be among the first to see these two SummerNightastic events! Before the fireworks had started, I told Luke that Stefanie might be too tired and sweaty for more shopping. But NO! When I said we could get a bus to BC, she immediately said, “I thought I got to shop.” Suddenly those tired legs weren’t so tired though I had to carry her again to the Emporium:
We shopped the entire length of Main Street, picking up items as we went. Stefanie found a MK t-shirt and coloring book. I got a picture frame, wine bottle stopper (that I had forgotten to buy in October), a Mother’s Day and Father’s Day antenna toppers, the neat windbreaker (on sale with a $40 purchase) and a onesie for my soon-to-be-born great nephew whose name will be Walt (my niece said she knew I’d love his name). The onesie is gray with a red striped Mickey tie has a fake pocket with a Mickey pen. As we began to check out all the way back by Casey’s in the men’s department, we discovered that Stefanie’s t-shirt did not have a tag. I had to return to the very beginning of the Emporium to get one with a tag. At this point I realized my feet were tired, too. Once we paid, we were ready for home.
We caught a bus back to BC though I don’t exactly remember getting to the bus stop or walking from the one at BC to our villa. Stefanie and I unpacked because we’re OCD about that. I had to have a shower. While Stefanie lay in bed talking to me, I finished my notes for the day.
Then it was off to bed for all three of us. Lights out by 12:40 PM. We’d had a long, but very enjoyable ¾ day at our beloved Disney World!
