As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh my goodness - lots of updates and I'm loving every bit. Didn't know about the Tide pen - thanks for that tip. Also didn't know about Romeo & Edna in a show. Where is that?

It's located in the world of Italy. It's out front, not up on the stage. The same actors that do the "Holy Grail" show perform in these. The show times are posted outside. It's a funny show, but I really love "The Holy Grail". DD21 tried her best to get picked for one of those shows. She's resigned herself to the fact that she'll never play the part of "Pelham".

As we make our way to HM, I call DD28 to see what's taking so long for her to get here. She answers the phone and I can tell she's flustered. She's a little short with me, but I don't take it personally. I know she's having a bad day and she didn't get a whole lot of sleep the night before. She tells us she's trying to get there and for us to go ahead and ride.
We ride the HM ride and I thought to myself that day, I'm gonna ride this as many times as possible because I know this trip is fast coming to an end. When we exit the ride, we get a call that DD28 has finally made it to the park and she's making her way to us. YAY!
By this time it's noon and when DD28 catches up, she proceeds to tell us, that once again, she has been ambushed by another kid. Apparently while riding the bus, this kid had some pineapple and of course he manages to drop it on her! LOL! She decides it's just not worth the time and energy to go back to the room and change. Now she's a sticky wet mess.
We decide to go ahead and eat since everyone's hungry and we were in the area of Pecos already, so we grab a quick bite.
After lunch, we take a ride on the steamboat and then the younger girls make their way back to the room for a rest. Honestly, I thought young girls should have more energy than this!
DD28 and I decide to make our way over to POC and that's when it happens. Once again, DD28 becomes a target! LOL!

We decide to ride POC and it's a pretty short wait. As we make our way out, DD28 gets a phone call and she has to take it because it's business related.
We're right outside the gift shop of POC and I just wander around a little bit while I wait for her to finish her call. She's kind of pacing around in circles talking, and she's got a finger in her other ear. I give her a few minutes and it's starting to get hot. It won't be long before the mid-afternoon show starts and I really want to grab some pics there.
I turn around and motion her towards the castle area hoping that she'll follow. As I'm walking, out of the corner of my eye, I see this bright blue blur come around me to my left. For a split second I think, "Oh, someone's wearing a blue dress". It took another second for me to realize, it's "Wendy". I turn around to motion DD28, that "Hey! I've spotted Wendy".
At that very moment I see that Peter Pan is right up in DD28's face. She's turned to look at him, still holding the phone in her hand, and her mouth is wide open.
He says very loudly, "How do you talk on that thing?" He then skips off and passes by me. DD28 is still standing there in shock!
I immediately think: PICTURE, PICTURE, PICTURE.
Dummy me had put my camera in my bag, so now I have to get it out as quickly as possible cause Pan is really moving fast.
I keep an eye on him while pulling out my camera. Suddenly Pan stops and jumps up onto this planter that surrounds a tree. He has spotted Captain Hook and Smee, who are over in a corner. They are supposed to be taking pics, but now they've spotted Wendy. Hook proceeds to chase her in circles around a photographer. Pan, in the meantime, takes one look at the pirate duo and proceeds to blow them a GIANT raspberry!. He jumps off the planter and skips across the road and disappears behind a gate. Wendy finally escapes and runs through a gate herself with Hook and Smee in tow.
DD28 comes up behind me and begins to yell, "Did you see that? Did you see that? He asked me how I talk in this thing?"
The only thing I can think of is how disappointed the other girls will be when they hear our tale. I wish I had my video camera with me because this was priceless! What a great magical moment!
Here's a collage of our experience. This contains some pics that I took the next day. As you can tell, I went back to catch more pics with Hook, Smee, Wendy, and Pan. The girls couldn't help themselves dressing up. Ironically, DD17's school mascot is, what else, PIRATES! We came really close to buying these hats!

So after leaving POC, we decide to do some shopping. We're still talking about the "Pan" experience and laughing and wishing that the other girls were with us. We head over to Main Street and while browsing one of the shops, DD28 tells me that her sister, DD21, spotted a ring that she wanted earlier in the week, but they didn't have her size. The ring has a black stone in it and it's really cute. The price is very reasonable and lucky for me, DD28 remembered what size she needed. Unfortunately, the store still didn't have her size. The cast member that waited on us did tell us that there was a kiosk at the POC that sold the same jewelry that was there in their store. Ironically, the cast member had a sibling that worked at that very kiosk. They called and it just so happens, they had the size we needed. They reassured us that they would hold the ring for us. So once again, back to POC we go.
After purchasing the ring, I think this was the day when I went back to the gift shop at POC. I found a cookie jar that looks like the one in the movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas". It's the jar that says "Deadly Nightshade". HA! So, I bought it!
We then made our way back through Adventureland and stopped long enough to get a Dole Whip! I was afraid DD28 would be turned off at the sight of pineapples!
We then made our way over to the castle area. We were finally going to watch the Celebrate Parade! Here are some pics from that day. We also got to watch the show that's on the castle stage.
I had so many wonderful pics from this day, but I'm only posting a few.
After the parade, we rested and waited for the other girls to come back. We made ressies earlier in the week for dinner at Crystal Palace. We'd also picked up FP's for Splash Mountain and planned to ride that sometime later that evening.
We'd had a lot of fun that day, we actually rode quite a few rides, several tiimes, and we were really looking forward to a late night at the park!
The younger girls came back about 4:50, just in time for our 5:00 reservations. They each had taken a nap and were feeling much better. DD21 loved her ring and was very excited that I had been able to find it for her.
It didn't take long before they called our name and we went inside for dinner. I've only eaten at CP once before and that was for breakfast. It was really good back then, so we were looking forward to a good meal that wasn't something other than fast food.
I have to admit, the food wasn't really what I expected. I think I actually prefer to eat there at breakfast time. One of the things that bothered me was the service. The waiter hardly spent any time at our table. In fact, he didn't even ask us if we were celebrating anything until he picked up my credit card at the end of the meal. Usually that's the first thing the waiters will ask. I did notice that he seemed to be spending an unusual amount of time with the table next to us. When I saw how much the expected tip was for our meal, I decided the service didn't match the tip and so I left a smaller one. I felt a little guilty at first, but given the quality of service, I really think it fit.
Here are a couple of pics from that evening.
We looked a little rough. It had been a long day.
Yeah....at the time it seemed like a good idea for a picture...at the time....
