Four if By Land, Six if By Sea Updated 3/29 COMPLETE - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Next up were the Teacups where the two spinning nuts rode together while I rode with the junior spinning nut. Maddie just loves this ride and giggles the entire time.
As we passed by Pooh, we had to tease Maddie and ask her if she was sure that she didn’t want to ride Pooh. All we heard from the stroller was “No Pooh!”
It had been a while since our breakfast on the boat (and our snack at BW ), so we decided to eat at CHH which was a first! Thom loves him some tuna salad, so he went with the Anchors Aweigh Sandwich (white tuna with lettuce and tomato on toasted multigrain bun) while I ordered the BLT Salad (Mixed greens with crispy chicken, bacon, egg, and tomato) and the girls split the 8 Chicken Breast Nuggets (Served with French Fries). I also ordered them two chocolate chip cookies since they were missing out on them with an adult entrée.
While I ordered our food, Thom went in search of a table and came up empty handed. Now since I’m such a devoted member of this board, I was able to tell him that I would find us a table upstairs while he waited on the food. The girls and I went up the stairs and found tons of empty tables. I knew what I was looking for and, after a little exploring, I found it! Only one other family was sitting in the dining room over the walkway from Fantasy Land to Frontier Land, so we had our pick of tables and chairs. Although there were plenty of tables for four people, the girls wanted to sit at one of the tables for two at a window. They this little hidden gem.

Thom found us easily and we settled in at our little table with a view. The girls had the best time looking out of the window while they ate. My salad was delicious , so now I know why most people give this place high marks. We will definitely be back!
When we came downstairs, an older couple was standing at the bottom holding their trays. They asked Thom if there was seating upstairs since it was still full downstairs. Not only did he tell them yes, but he also shared the secret of the cool dining room. That boy is following me right down the old Disney nut path.
Thom had parked Maddie’s stroller at HM with the intention of us riding it after lunch, but the line stretched past stroller parking so we decided to pass for now. Our FP’s for PP were ripe by now, so we hopped in our pirate ship (without hitting our heads ) and flew over Neverland.
We headed into Frontier Land where Thom grabbed more FP’s for BTMRR. I noticed on this trip that every time that we mentioned BTMRR, Maddie would add “Track”. She has apparently been listening to her big sister!
Since we were in the area, I thought I might ask Mary Devall about conquering her final mountain, Splash Mountain. I had mentioned it earlier in the day to her since she had declared for months that January was the month, but she announced that she was going to wait until June. When I mentioned it again, she said that she didn’t want to get wet. When I promised to buy ponchos (all of ours were packed in a suitcase), she finally agreed.
Thom and Maddie took off to ride the train (once I pointed out where the station was to him) while Mary Devall and I went into the nearby shop to buy ponchos. Several CM’s were standing around chatting and it took a couple of minutes for one to finally notice me at the cash register. With two ponchos in hand, we took off for the standby line which was showing a 20 minute wait.
I prayed that our wait would be short because Mary Devall was shaking she was so nervous. We talked through the ride over and over until it was finally our turn. We lucked out with a back seat, so I hoped we wouldn’t get too wet. Mary Devall wanted us to wear the ponchos, but I thought we would be safer placing one over our laps and holding the other one over our heads during the big drop.
She seemed to feel a lot better once we got going. Just as Eileen and Heather had talked me through the ride in December, I talked Mary Devall through it. She actually laughed when I pointed out all of the “bare/bear” butts.
When it was finally time for “the” big drop, Mary Devall hunkered down and I put the poncho over us. As soon as flew down the mountain, I pulled the poncho from our heads and realized that we were essentially dry. Just as with my last SM ride, I only had a slightly wet behind - - as did Mary Devall. She was immediately over her fright, but when I asked if she liked the big drop, she gave me a big . She didn’t protest too much, so I have the feeling that she will ride it again.
Once we were out of log, we laughed about all of the wet behinds in front of us. It was evident that my little girl was so proud of herself - - I think her last mountain had made her the most nervous of all! We stopped in the SM gift shop to buy her an SM pin and a Brer Rabbit for her bravery.
When we stepped outside, we couldn’t find Thom and Maddie at the designated meeting area so we took a few “I did it!” shots!
We were still missing half of our family, so I gave Thom a call and discovered that the train was almost back to the station. At this point, I was assuming that they had taken more than one spin around the park.
While we were waiting, my little schemer decided that she wanted to trick her daddy into believing that she had chickened out of riding SM. I told her just to act really sad and then tell him that she didn’t ride it, but she told me that she didn’t think she could do it. Oh, you want ME to trick him then?
When I saw Thom approach us with a sleeping Maddie in his arms (explaining the two loops around the park ), I told Mary Devall just to turn towards me and not to say anything. I noticed that Thom looked concerned when he saw Mary Devall, so I explained to him that we had reached the front of the line and she backed out of riding it. He looked disappointed for her, but he immediately said “That’s okay. You can ride it in June.”
About that time Mary Devall turned around smiling and said “I tricked you, Daddy!” Thom loved it since he revels in the fact that his oldest daughter is learning trickery from the master.
Up next . . .more fun at MK!

Great update Jill! Lunch sounds yummy at we love Columbia Harbor House. I must have some tuna now! Congrats to Mary Devall for conquering Space Mountain! I am jealous of her bravery since I am such a chicken about the thrill rides.
What a great day in MK so far! Loved the picture of you & Maddie on Tea Cups - so cute! Glad Mary Devall conquered her last mountain - very exciting. And how cute she's into playing tricks.
So cute! I hope that I find someone to talk me thru Splash next December.

Just catching up. Glad you made it to the Boardwalk and the pampered surroundings of another Concierge. What an awesome way to see the World! Sounds like a great day at AK, especially the fairies and Mary Devall conquering her last mountain! Way to go, Mary Devall!
