August and Everything After WDW - Trip Report - Thread 2 **Updated 11/1** COMPLETE - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Those bananas are good, aren't they? Mel, I think you should take a photography course & ditch the teaching gig for PHOTOPASS PIC TAKER EXTRAORDINAIRE!!! Andy, I so know how you feel about Flintstones, I was the same way. I also used to eat the St. Joseph's baby aspirin, it has an ornage flavor. I'm surprised I didn't O.D! Funny thing, is that on my last trip to Epcot I was excited to try the Grand Marnier slushie and when I did it tasted just like the St. Joseph's, but I didn't like it! I guess I ate so much of them as a kid that my taste buds rejected it now! Brandi, you are too funny! I love all the great faces you make with the characters!
So our last evening/night had arrived... sadness I know. But we had a fun night in store for us. We decided to head out to Epcot earlier than planned b/c you know, we didn't have anything else to do. Brandi had planned to meet us for the 6pm BI show and Pom was going to meet her there, too. So when we got to Epcot we had some time so we went to the Seas first. We rode Nemo b/c there was no wait and then we just took our time and enjoyed the aquarium. Which reminds me.... Did we talk about seeing the Manatees with Brandi and Pom earlier in the trip and all the butt sniffing that was going on? The manatees were sniffing butts like our cats sniff butts. Hey, it's nature. But we got a good laugh out of it
But today there was no butt sniffing... just relaxed swimming by the manatees. Andy loves the manatees. So we watched them for awhile.
We mosied on through the aquarium, just relaxing, enjoying being there. I get distracted by the rays, so we stood here for quite awhile..
We spotted this which has to be a HM right?
Then, a turtle came along...... and apparently I could've named this TR something along the lines of...
All Poop Considered
Andy just made an NPR reference... he had to explain it to me... I say it's not a good joke if you have to explain it...
So as I was saying... this turtle comes along... and drops some kids off in the pool (if ya know what I'm sayin' ) And the fish.... well the fish thought somebody rang the dinner bell!
They gathered quicker than anything I've ever seen around that poop...
And they devoured it!!! At least the manatees were just butt sniffers... not poop eaters..
Man this TR has taken a nasty turn. I guess that's what happens when you get a couple teachers together at WDW (in case you didn't know, Brandi's a teacher, too! And we've both had our very own poop stories to tell from work this past week.... I had a poop story from the library! Can you believe that?!?! UGH! ) But seriously, let's look back.. we had Andy's water and water and poop and poop story from the pool. Then Goofy poo, and now fish poo!
So after being grossed out by the fishies...
you mean by the fishies feces?
Yeah, that. We moved on towards the UK. Brandi and Pom were there waiting for us when we arrived. Andy stopped to get us some beers and Pom pointed out Pom wasn't wearing the same Auburn t shirt that he'd been wearing the whole time. Not really, but almost everytime we've seen him (May trip included) he was wearing a bright orangish/red Auburn shirt. So we were glad to see he owned something a little bit different.
We watched the 6pm show and goofed as per usual.
We sort of came to a point where pictures just became stupid
Wasn't our goal for the night eating and drinking around the WS?
Yes, and you tried to start early...
Geez man, get a pretzel!
Brandi had planned on ditching us (that poopy head!) but she decided to ditch her friends and stay with us! So I guess she's not a poopy head! After the show was over we headed counter clockwise around the WS. Stopping along the way to stuff ourselves sick.
Oh but first, Pom had to go to the bathroom. He has a bladder the size of a pea.
So we goofed off while we waited...
I don't remember much between the UK and Italy. (and it's not b/c I was drinking, it's just been almost 2 months and well, I can't remember much from yesterday so....... please forgive.
I was drinking however. I know I had a beer from France.
OH I remember something! We went and got French chocolates. And then Pom maybe went to the bathroom again?? j/k I don't know if he did. And then Andy was in line FOREVER getting his beer. So we people watched and trash talked. We're awful.
You didn't trash talk me getting beer did you?
Actually we did. You were talking entirely too long.
After that, I think we went to Italy. Brandi and Pom mentioned some chocolate covered cherry candy that one of their dad's had like last year... see... I can't remember. Anyway... we get in there and we start asking the people about it. They swear up and down they've NEVER had anything like that. I think Brandi got a little perturbed. Or maybe Pom.... one of them did. Maybe Brandi can clarify.
Brandi did turn us on to this other candy... Baci. I remember it b/c it's the same name as their cat!... here we are scoping it out.
It was cold, and tasty. And the Italian fellow told us about how the wrapper had a saying inside.
After Italy, Andy, who was getting a little buzzy, if you know what I mean. Decided he needed a German beer and pretzel. So we let him have at it.
A few photos from Germany..
Funny story about this next picture. The poor girl at the pretzel stand offered to take a picture of all of us. She didn't have any customers so we were like sure, and then "oh can you take one with mine, too?" And of course, right as I'm having to teach her how to use my camera she gets like 50 people coming up to her line.
It's because people saw how happy Andy was with his pretzel and beer.
And how happy was he? Well just look at this next picture, and if it doesn't make you smile.... sadness...
That picture just brightens my day. It's on our fridge. I love it
I had to get one of Andy and his happiness...
Then we made our way over to China. Since Nine Dragons was still closed they had a booth set up outside with a few of their goodies. We all had to have something from there. I think Andy and I had the pot stickers and I had some plum wine...stuff.... It was okay. Very strong. I couldn't drink much of it. But you wouldn't know it from this next picture..
And that picture led to this picture that Brandi took....
It was you feeding the little birdy I just laugh so hard I have to pee at Pom's expression Even thinking about it, I don't even have to look at the picture anymore, it's engraved in my brain.....
It's a look of pure disgust
Oh, it makes me laugh! Good stuff!
And then after that Brandi and I thought something was funny...
And then I look like I'm shooting water out of my mouth like a fountain...
You were tweeting for your baby birdies to come eat...
So after disgusting everyone around us in China probably, we moved on to see what damage we could cause in Mexico. Andy wisely decided against the Dos Equis in Mexico. I however had to have a Fiesta Margarita! We also split the nachos. I think they are very very tasty!
I think Pom and Brandi had churros.
I think they did. By now we all had a little international fiesta going on in our bellies. And we weren't done yet. Remember that Disney stomach we talked about earlier??? It had kicked into overdrive.
Apparently once around the WS wasn't enough, so we backtracked back around towards Japan. We stopped along the way in America so Pom could get his Banana Smootie (I have to tell this this story. For Pom's bday Andy made a coupon book of Pom's fav things at WDW. One of the coupons was for a banana smoothie....But Brandi pointed out that Andy had spelled smoothie without the "h" on all the coupons, so Pom was actually getting banana smooties! )
Sorry about that!
Pom was very excited about his smootie, too!
We continued on to Japan, fairly quickly I might add. I wanted to try my first Kaki-Gori and Illuminations was starting soon. Brandi and I waited in line for the Kaki while Andy and Pom went to the tree right in the middle of Japan.
I parked Pom there and then went and got some Men's Pocky. I went just to get Pocky. I had no clue what Men's Pocky was. I guess you have to be a man to eat dark chocolate cause that's what made Men's Pocky, "Men's".
And you took this picture....
Yes I did. I've never seen that back there. It was a kidcot stop and some poor lady was back there cutting out stuff all alone. Kidcot stops at 9pm aren't very popular.
Brandi and I cut it close with our Kaki Gori b/c the guy in front of us was ordering like one of EVERY FREAKING FLIPPING FLAVOR!!! I wanted to thump him in the back of the head. But finally we had ours and we headed over to find the guys. I have to say, this was a great spot to watch the show!!! A few photos...
Andy and my Kaki Gori and his Pocky
And this next picture... I don't think Andy knew I was taking his picture... maybe he wasn't man enough for that Men's Pocky.... but whatever he was doing.... I caught it. I had to brighten up the picture to see it...
Wait, what? Have I not seen this picture? Oh crap...
yeah......
I think you had just stuck a big bite of Kaki Gori in your mouth.
edited to add that I originally put the word "My" in that sentence up there, but upon proof reading, it sounded reeeally bad......
I took a few photos of Illuminations...
I got a big sequence so I made another gif...
After Illuminations Pom had to .................
anybody? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?
You guessed it!! Go to the bathroom. So we decided to try out Morocco's facilities. We came across this camel, with a bag over his head.... WTF?
I don't really know how a camel with a bag over his head could kill Andy....but he did!
Finally we had to clear out of the park. Brandi offered to take us back to POFQ. We made the walk to the BC parking lot where we said our goodbyes to Pom But no worries, we knew we'd see them again in November. Brandi dropped us off at our 6th furtherest away room and we had to say our goodbyes to her there
We decided to go fill up our mugs in the foodcourt and just do our usual walk around the resort on our final night. We caught some of the jazz guy in the lounge.
He saw me taking pictures and pointed at me and made some comment to us...
About me being lucky or something..
Or about how he wanted to be like you when he grew up.... this might have been right after you did the Robot like that kid.... so maybe he was making fun of you!!
So wait, I was making fun of the kid and then I got made fun of in return?
Kharma... I mean, he certainly wasn't referring to how fabulous I looked that night......
Lucky for me I put on my shirt before I came out....
Yeah I had to make you before we went out. "Melissa! Put on your shirt and shoes!! You ain't in NC no more!"
Hey, I was in my comfy clothes.... and I made Andy take a picture just so I could embarassingly show you how awful I was dressed in public....
Two shades of gray, brown birkenstocks... and no make up. Niiiiiice
Hey, that Nick Tahou's shirt was lovingly imported by your husband straight from NY
I thought you were going to say that I wasn't embarassingly dressed.
You were.
Nice.
Only the cats and the TV see you like that. And now half the people in scat cat lounge have been witness to it.
The cats, the TV, scat cat lounge people, and all our PP buddies now!!
Anyway, after that we meandered the long way by the river back to our room.
I joked to you that there were gators in that river and you better watch out. And you always look over at me with this weird look on your face and go "Nah uh" but your face says "really?"
I don't believe half of what you say anymore. Andy tried telling me the Free Credit Report.com guys were going on tour. I got excited for like a split second Those commercials crack me up by the way.
We finally called it a night, headed back to the room, packed up and straightened up and went to bed.
Coming up: Whaddya mean no sweet cream cheese pretzels??
OMG - Pom's face is freakin hilarious. He is not even remotely amused in any of those pictures. . . . . It's not until the banana smootie picture that he looks like he's enjoying himself. Great update, can't wait for more.
