As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

That just plain stinks what your friends did to you two Angie. I don't think I would have been so nice. Sounds like you still had a pretty good day though.

Re: Three strikes & you\'re out trip! 6/6-6/11/06 Updated 7/10 Day 5!
Sunday June 11th, Day 6, part 1– Our final day!
Well, it had finally arrived and for the first time, I wasn’t so sad to be leaving my happy place. It hadn’t been so happy this time. Last night I tried unsuccessfully to get a late check out so, I set a wake-up call for 8:50am to give me time to pack last minute things and take a shower. I didn’t even attempt to wake Joey to see if he was willing to go to a park, because not only would he be grumpy about being woken up, he’d have nixed the idea entirely, anyway.
At ten I finally did have to wake him up so I could pack his pjs and toiletries up after he showered.
Called Heidi at 10:45am to confirm that they’d be by the pool at SSR and said we’d head over there for a few hours and then go to DTD for some lunch at Earl of Sandwich. I was going there even if they decided not to!
We headed to airline check-in (LOVE this service!) and had our boarding passes within a few minutes. We stored our carry-ons with bell services and then took the short stroll to the boat dock. Since it was such a beautiful day and as of yet we hadn’t taken the scenic boat to DTD, we figured now was as good a time as any. I love the size of this resort! The dock was so close.
Only had to wait about 5 minutes for the boat that was arriving from Riverside to dock. Then it was down the Sassagoula for us.
On the way, I couldn’t pass up the photo ops.
Once we arrived at the Marketplace, we waited only a few more minutes for the ferry to SSR. We were there by 11:40am, now that was awesome timing!
I called Heidi to ask where to meet them and she said that the girls were at the High Rock Spring Pool, which is the main one located by the Carriage House. We encountered a DVC rep, named Joe, as we arrived at the CH and he asked how he could assist us. I told him we were here to meet friends at the pool. I didn’t realize what I’d said until it was too late , but luckily Joe just smiled and waved us through!
We didn’t see anyone in the pool and after circling the entire area, I sent Joey to get his bathing suit on and then we’d continue looking. I didn’t bring my suit along, because I didn’t want to have to carry any more wet clothes in our carry-ons. Back outside, we did find them. The girls had been sunning themselves, while I was looking for them in the pool!
While Joey and the girls got into the pool with a ball to toss around.
I went to the bar!
On the Rocks pool bar had some appetizing drinks to offer.
I chose the Sunken Treasure and a small bag of pretzels for a total of $11.50!
Heidi & Troy returned from putting the clothes in the dryer. Troy joins the kids in the pool and Heidi lounged with her book.
At about 1:30pm the kids went into the Arcade and I followed, leaving the bag with Joey’s clothes at the table where Heidi’s things were.
At about 2p.m Troy comes into the arcade and says it’s about to pour. I didn’t think much of it, because I figured Heidi is outside, if it does start to rain she’ll grab my bag. When I finally heard the rain, I peeked out to our table and my bag was still there! Heidi and Stormy had gone back to the room. I guess I shouldn’t have assumed that she’d either bring my bag in, since no one was left to watch it or at least tell me. The arcade door was only steps from our table. Just another thing that irritated me.
Luckily, only Joey’s t-shirt got a little wet. I didn’t want him to have to travel with wet clothes. In hindsight, I could’ve just thrown them into the free DVC dryers, but thank goodness I didn’t have to.
At this point it was coming down in sheets and we were sequestered in the Arcade for a good 20-30 minutes. When it had finally calmed to a drizzle we made a run for it back to the room. Joey hopped in the shower to wash the chlorine off and I borrowed their to dry the damp parts of his shirt. After everyone was showered and changed we went looking for the walkway to DTD. It was about a 10 minute walk, but so pretty.
We encounteredand along the way. FYI- the walkway is nearest to the Congress Park buildings.
We headed straight to EOS, or should I say I headed and they followed! The line to order was non-existent, but the crowd waiting for their order was rather large. It was a good 10 minute wait for our orders.
Joe chose the “Best BLT”, which at this moment doesn’t appear on the ALLEARS menu, but I assure you that’s what he ate! I believe it’s Canadian bacon(the best!) and of course lettuce, tomato and mayo. I have it in my notes “no mayo” which I find strange because Joey loves mayo.
I decided to stray from my usual, “The Frenchy”- Le Frenchy - ham with creamy French brie and dijonnaise sauce - and try “The Caprese”- The Caprese - sliced fresh mozzarella, roma tomatoes, fresh basil and drizzled virgin olive oil.
Wow, it was so good!
I also ordered the 3 berry smoothie. It was good but still had raspberry seeds in it. I grabbed an oatmeal raisin cookie to snack on at the airport.
I don’t really remember what the Havens ordered but they really all enjoyed their sandwiches. No one had leftovers! Told ya so!
After stuffing ourselves we did a little shopping. First stop Pin Traders where I bought 2 pins.
I think this is the best picture of the 3 of them!
Then we went into Summer Sands, which I don’t think I’d ever entered before. Walked straight through to Team Mickey where we spent some time. Joey found the basketball nets while we looked around. I spotted the jersey Joey had admired and asked him if he was sure he didn’t want it. He assured me that he didn’t. I bought my dad a golf towel as an addition to his father’s day gift and then Joey found a pair of sunglasses he liked so I added that.
After seeing Joey’s candy bag the night before the girls were jonesin’ for some candy of their own, so we backtracked to Goofy’s.
Here I spent an additional $3 for more candy for Joey.
YUM!!
Funhouse Mirror Pics!
Made a pit stop at Pooh’s corner but was again disappointed at the selection of merchandise of the store’s name sake or the lack thereof. They shouldn’t even call it Pooh Corner anymore. Karen or Eileen would probably come up with a very creative and hysterical name for it, but sadly I don’t have their wit!
By this time it was 4:35p.m and since we hadn’t been offered a ride back to our resort let alone back to the airport, Joey and I would have to make our leave now. The DME bus would be picking us up at 5:45p.m and Disney transportation being unpredictable, I wanted to give us plenty of time to get back to POFQ.
Okay, about the ride back to the airport comment: I had asked Troy a few days back that if he were willing to give us a ride back to the airport I’d pay him $20 for gas. This would allow us at least an extra hour and a half since I’d be doing airline check-in. He said that maybe if it were more time that we’d be saving he’d agree but for that amount of time it would be too much for him. Granted it would be an hour r/t travel time for him, but I thought that maybe it’d be worth the extra time spent playing instead of on a DME bus.
Maybe it’s just that I’ve been spoiled with my passporter friends always offering without being asked to do things like this. I love you guys!

Re: Three strikes & you\'re out trip! 6/6-6/11/06 Updated 7/10 Day 5!
Aaarrrgghhh! They did was I was thinking they'd do to you. I CAN'T stinkin' believe they changed their minds about TL at the very last second. That bites! You are a saint not to have chewed them out and never spoken to them again -- and then Heidi didn't even bother to take of your bag.
As for Pooh Corner... I have little personal history here. We have a dog that likes her privacy when taking care of business. She always runs back behind the shed to poop -- a spot that Bob and I refer to as Poo Corner. So, I guess without the Pooh merchandise on offer, it should now be spelled POO Corner (no 'h')
I'm so glad that your next trips are with some of the best PassPorters. They'll treat you right and be sooo good to you. (I wish I was able to join you!)
Can't wait for more.

Re: Three strikes & you\'re out trip! 6/6-6/11/06 Updated 7/10 Day 5!
Angie, I've been catching up on you trip report, and your friends are frustrating me!! This is exactly why I do NOT like going on vacations like this with friends. I hate when other people seem to dictate what everyone is doing, and I'm passive enough to let it happen. I like to do my own thing with my family! Great TR though, you are very entertaining! Three strikes & you\'re out trip! 6/6-6/11 Posted 7/11 Day 6, Part 2!-To the Airport & a Green Gobli
Day 6, Part 2- To the Airport and a Green Goblin!
Anyways, back at DTD, the bus pulled up within seconds of us getting there. So we were back at POFQ by 5:10p.m after making stops at PI and TL.waytogo:
Since we had time to spare, Joey asked for a , but shake this time. I was happy to oblige as I’d been taking advantage of the DDE at the FC all vacation long!
I also got 2 more Mickey rice krispie treats for home, which my sister enjoyed.
After a pottie break and one last refill of my mug, pink lemonade this time, it was off to collect our carry-ons. As soon as we got to Bell Services our DME bus pulled up, a full 10 minutes early. No one else boarded, I don’t think, so we pulled out to our last pick up at Old Key West then on to MCO.
We arrived at the airport at 6:40p.m and I made a note that this bus DID make stops at both “B”, then the “A” side. We got off at the latter and took the escalator up to security. The wait for security was less than 5 minutes a great improvement from other times.
We were at our gate before 7p.m and our flight wasn’t due to board for another hour.
I sat and hoped that Tropical Storm Alberto (?) didn’t affect our departure time, since I’d picked a late flight as it was and Joey had school the next day and I had to go to work.
The hour went slowly and a guy getting updates on his lap top was announcing how good the Mets Game was going and how the Yanks had gotten whipped! So I decided to go for a walk and ended up at Starbuck’s. Got myself one for the road, or air and headed back.
The flight did leave on time and Joey slept most of the way.
One cool thing did happen though!
As I sat looking at first class boarding I noticed a familiar face, but I couldn’t quite place it. He was a gentleman, in his early 50s maybe, distinguished looking enough to have caught my eye, but no airs about him. Once Joey and I boarded, I again took notice of this man and this time I was sure I knew who he was. I turned to Joey who was behind me and “That is the guy from .” I tried to point discreetly with my head, but all I got from him was “What?” So I repeated the statement. At this point, I think the gentleman overheard and just looked up at me. Joey replied “You're blind Ma.” O-kay.
A few rows back a woman had taken notice of what I had said and she says “Yes, it’s him. It’s Mick Jagger!” Uhm, and Joey thought I was blind!
This man bared no resemblance to the Mickster, especially in the region!
With Joey, the action movie fan, not recognizing him, I thought maybe I’d made a mistake, but I couldn’t leave it alone.
When the drink cart came around, I asked the flight attendant if she knew who the passenger in First Class was and gave her the approximate location. She was now just as curious as I was and went off to find out. A short while later, she returns and I’m thinking she’s asked the FA that is handling First class or maybe taken a look at him herself. She hands me a sheet of paper, neat she got me an autograph I’m thinking. It was the PASSENGER LIST!!! With all the names of people in First Class! Isn’t that confidential? When I locate the seat number this gentleman was occupying the name listed was …..
Willem Defoe! The Green Goblin!
I was so stoked to have been right and couldn’t wait for Joey to wake up to tell him.
Unfortunately we didn’t see him again since he exited first and I’m sure was whisked away in a limo.
We collected our luggage and took a cab back home, where we promptly fell into bed!
THE END.
Up Next- Final Thoughts!

Angie,
It sounds like you did have some fun on the trip, and thank goodness for that. I hope Joey really had a good time! Sorry that things were so difficult, that's alway my concern when traveling with someone new. At least you have another trip to look forward to VERY soon! Have a great time, and wish Melissa a Happy Birthday for us!

Angie - I'm so glad you have another trip planned soon. After this one you need to go again and find the magic. It's somehow not right to be ready to leave WDW.
Seeing William DeFoe is definitely !
I'll be looking forward to your final thoughts.........

Angie! I am just so furious with this family! He wouldn't even drive you to the airport!
I am so happy that you were able to eek out a good time for you and Joey though!
I have never traveled to Disney with friends and now you've convinced me why!
How cool that you saw Willem Dafoe in first class! He is such a good actor! Broke my heart in Platoon.

Sorry your trip didn't go as well as you'd hoped. At least you have a PP trip to look forward to. I'm already anticipating that TR. One of these I'll make it on PP trip. Maybe I'll have to make a mini meet with you in NYC one day.
