As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Put down your drink! Karen and Eileen storm WDW 6/16-22 - Day 2/part 3- Updated 7/1
<font color="blue"> We took the pathway from Everest into Dinoland U.S.A. and were there so quickly, it almost surprised me. Calder brightened up a bit upon seeing The Bone Yard sign, but still seemed a little fragile. Since I knew there was no way I’d get him to join me on my next mission, I did something that the DH wholeheartedly disagrees with – I gave Calder some cash.
You see, I had Karen’s offer to watch Calder while I stole her son and went on DINOSAUR!
I had missed it during the Grand Gathering last May, but Bob and Calder had ridden it… and now, Calder would never ride it again. Zack had promised to go on it with me and I was tickled pink to have a ride buddy! The two groups split up and Zack and I zoomed over towards DINOSAUR. Except… I was sorta following Zack and he was sorta following me. So, we ended up passing through the shopping area of Chester and Hester’s before I turned to Zack and asked where the ride entrance was. “Back there… duh!” (Well, actually, he didn’t add the word “duh,” but he sure LOOKED it )
We doubled back and I got to see the building for the first time. So cool! Then we were in and, since there was no line, I didn’t have much time to admire the big creature in the atrium. We got up to the CM just as the last group filled the next room. He was so personable that we were happy to stay and chat with him. He noticed Zack’s birthday button (that Karen had gotten for him at Guest Services when they did exchanged their AP vouchers) and the two of them started talking about their birthdays – both of which were in the past few days. (I learned the interesting fact that Gemini’s need lots of sleep and lots of money!)
Then it was our turn. The pre-show was cute, but I was anxious to climb aboard our time rover and see me some dinos! As we walked down to the vehicles, I pointed out the red, yellow, and white tubes with the chemical compounds written on them. Zack didn’t know what they were so I explained that they were “ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise!” Zack got a kick out of that!
Once in our ride vehicles, Zack got me cracking up. He asked if I was a grabber. A what?! “You know, do you have to grab my hand, like my mom does.” I assured him that I wasn’t a grabber… just a screamer. THAT he was fine with!
I was so anxious to see these creatures and experience this ride, folks. What I wasn’t ready for was how quickly my central nervous system decided to freak out. We passed the raptors and the scientist calmly identified them as such – I started thinking… “how can he be so calm? I mean, has he SEEN Jurassic Park?!”
Then the computer announced that radar showed a very large creature up ahead. The guide asked the computer to identify it. I, of course had been watching this large, red, rubber, dinosaur menacing us with it’s large, white, rubber teeth. I started screaming – “It’s a carnitore! IT’S A CARNITORE!” Luckily the vehicle moved out of pouncing range and I managed not to pee my pants. But I turned around and kept an eye on the carnitore... just to make sure it didn't break the moorings keeping it bolted to the floor so it could chase after us.
I snapped my eyes forward again and there was something there that creeped me out even more! I screamed!
A few more creatures and I was sweating, shaking and… believe it or not… laughing! (It’s a nervous reaction – I tend to laugh maniacally when I’m scared!) Something startled me and, in my surprise, I let something slip, something that is not meant to be heard in a Disney park. And, jeez, there were little kids in the seat in front of me. I leaned over to Zack and asked if he heard that… “Heard what?” Phew… “Nevermind.”
Well, this little exchange distracted me from the approach of the big moment. So, when the huge, hulking beast (that I’ve now blacked out of my memory and I honestly can’t tell you what it was) came at me… me ...in the sucker’s seat… I screamed, felt a rush of abject terror wash over me and I leaped at Zack, practically throttling him.
Apparently, I AM a grabber.
Next thing I know, we’re climbing off the ride and I’m still sweating, shaking and laughing, but this time, however, it’s out of pure joy, excitement and hilarity. I grabbed Zack’s arm (see… I’m a grabber now ) and gave him a shake. He was lovin’ it. He totally thought I was a riot and a weirdo, but he had a smile a mile wide across his face.
I always have to buy the ride photos of a First Ride, so we headed over that way and had a huge laugh.
But to really appreciate it, you have to look at the people in the car around us:
Miss Cleavage and the Chipper Twins are having a blast – even the old Dude thinks it’s no big deal.
Not me… not Zack
(although, I’ll cut him some slack and say that he’s reacting to the shriek of terror that ripped from my lips and not to the large, red, rubber dinosaur.)
[Up next: Why is Donald crying?]

<font color="blue">
I was greeted by the loveliest shade of ‘dawn’ in the world. And – here’s another “butterfly” moment for me – my mom’s name was “Dawn” and when she was alive, she and I would sit out on the deck of their beachfront house and watch the sun rise over the Atlantic ocean on her birthday. This morning, with Karen, was almost exactly one month to my mom’s birthday, so it was a treasure for me to sit out here with my dear, dear friend and watch the great orange ball rise over the trees with Everest hulking beside it.

I got chills reading that. How wonderful for you to experience this. I'm sure your mom was right there with you enjoying it with you!

I am so glad to know that I am not the only person that looks so horrified in my picture. I, unfortunately, didn't buy it. I should have though. I'm so glad you liked the ride. It is one of my all-time favorites. I ride it many times each trip.
Can't wait for more!

That picture is hilarious! You wouldn't even know that you guys were on the same ride as Miss Cleavage and the Chipper twins!

I'm glad you guys enjoyed it -- I let out a big guffaw EVERY time I look at my face in that photo...
Now it's time for The Grabber to head to the shore for the next couple of days. I promise not to lose the great momentum I've built up (getting updates out at least once a day) and to come back and keep going like gangbusters.
Karen has been very busy, but here's hoping that she'll have a chance to chime in soon!
Eileen
PS - it's the only picture I have of it (and it's not a very good one), but that's my Hidden Mickey head tie dye shirt. (The LOUD Mickey face pants are hidden by the vehicle...)

Oh my gosh Eileen!! I'm sitting here with water trickling down my chin. I didn't spray the computer but some escaped.
What a great picture of you and Zack!! CLASSIC!!
Just caught up on the other update as well and I'm sorry that Calder had such a bad experience on EE.

Eileen - Just read the last 2 days' innstallments. Sorry Calder didn't enjoy EE, but it sounds like he's cheering up. I've never done EE or Dinosaur either. I plan to do them this fall on my trip. I'll have to see how my face looks in the Dinosaur picture.
Lovin' your TR. Keep it coming when you get back from your weekend!
