It’s Always Sunny in California!..Eh?...L’il Bit! - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

More great pictures from the Aladdin show. Prince Ali is one of my favorite Disney songs, too. I used to know all the words.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
I love that song. Sometimes as I am working I play it on my computer and it puts me in a good mood. (wish it was part of the hold music for Disney because after 4 hours on hold yesterday I was getting pretty sick of the same songs over and over and over!)

I figured that is how it is done. It was really neat seeing it fly, but I got better pictures of them while on stage.
We kept moving along and spotted the Mad Hatter out for a meet and greet. I took some quick shots of him as we walked by.
He wasn’t cooperating and looking directly at me like I wanted him too.
We had a mission, a ride both of us wanted to ride, so I followed Cass as she led the way through Adventureland.
DL felt more crowded to me, even with the narrower paths.
I never did make it to Tarzan’s treehouse, but I took pictures of it several times.
Ok….I have one favorite ride above all others at WDW and DL has its own version which is different and longer. I HAD to ride it.
The line was long, but we got in anyways. Hey look the D Suite is right there!
Of course I occupied some of the time by taking pictures.
Finally we made it in and loaded onto our boat. The queue and loading area is totally different than WDW’s version. You also start out going around the Blue Bayou restaurant and you can see people dining.
I attempted to take a few pictures on the ride, but most did not come out very well.
There are some scenes that are close to the same and some are very different.
I believe the skull on the headboard is a real skull!!
The treasure room is very different and it is towards the beginning of the ride.
Ooooo! I'm loving the PotC at DL! I'm hoping to get out there next year and this TR is making me want to start plotting, I mean, planning for that trip!
Such an amazing ride. BB is a wonderful place to sit and eat too. A seat by the water=romance heaven. But too expensive for what you get, so once I started paying my own way i stopped going. I love seeing the restaurant as you float by as well. I was worried I'd hate the changes with the PoTC movie add-ins, but I've forgiven them for this and it now doesn't mess me up too much. I saw some early version in DLP first, and it was pretty lame. But DLR's isn't too over the top or jarring.
I ride PoTC at DL many years ago, and I remember that it was great!
it is a great ride!

I can barely remember what pirates was like at WDW before the refurb. It's just been so long ago now. I like this version though. I don't think they made any drastic changes.

Of course the ride has some familiar scenes in it too!
We Wants the Redhead!!!
Now Captain Jack is sitting at the very end. At WDW he looks so real! This one…..not so much. The 2nd time we rode this ride I noticed it more and thought “wow, he looks really bad!” and at that same moment Cass turned to me and said the same thing. He was kind of dirty looking and just not quite right.
So my thoughts on DL’s version of Pirates? I loved it! I would not say it’s better than WDW, but I love them both equally. It’s different and fun and I am really glad to finally see this version of it.
The exit area of the ride comes out here so I had to get a few more shots.
Off we went. Another ride that was on our list was the Matterhorn, so we headed that way.
Before riding this bad boy, I needed to make a potty run!
How cute is this area????
I snuck a picture inside because it was just themed so well.
When we came out we went to check the wait time…..the line was quite long, but we planned to use the single rider line. Well they informed us the ride was not running right now and they were not sure when it would be back to running. We could wait if we wanted to, but we chose to keep moving.
I then spotted these ladies walking in high heels. I have no clue how they could be comfortable walking around a park in those things. I took a quick crappy picture of them because I was just amazed.
I can’t even stand in those type of shoes, let alone walk in them!
Onward we went. We spotted It’s a Small Word. And yes I would have LOVED to ride the original version, but sadly it was down for refurbishment, which was the case with a lot of rides and attractions while we were there that week.
We came across some ducks that were just so darn cute. Of course I got a picture.
And it was time for a snack for me! I was getting pretty darn hungry and I needed something to tie me over.
Ok, maybe not so much hungry….but I NEEDED a Mickey bar! LOL
We loved POTC at Disneyland. 7 months from today I'll be eating at Blue Bayou! It looks wonderful! Sad you missed It's a Small World. It is magical there, but it couldn't be helped.
