Me, Muffin, Katie, Megan, the Adlers and Various Resorts!, - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I loved your photos of the Christmas tree trail at Disney springs! Someday I will get to see it in person! Your dinner looked yummy! What a great night!

What a fun evening - although tinged with sadness with La Nouba. I'm still not sure how I'm going to be when we're there in January and the theatre is dark. It's been such a huge part of our lives for so long.
It was such a fun evening but the same for us with La Nouba!!

Thanks, Donna!! The Christmas Tree Trail is so pretty!! I hope you get to see it too!!!
Glad you all enjoyed Morimoto Asia! It looked very nice decked out for Christmas. We were excited too that the Trail of Trees was already open and will see it later in our trip. Cute Dooney & Bourke Bambi bag.
What a great afternoon and evening! Such great photos from your savanna balcony of the animal with so much activity. Quite often as I found out when I had one of these verandas is there wasn't a lot of activity in the afternoon with the heat. But then again I was there at the end of April, when it's usually a bit hotter.
Glad you got to see another great show of La Nouba before it's gone for good! I'm glad I got to experience this one last time last year!
Amazing meal at Morimoto and I too loved the place from the food, service and amazing decor inside, which no WDW restaurant can compete with by being o beautiful and elaborate. I will definitely return here, but not sure when as so many other new eateries to experience in the Springs. Your table is probably about ten feet away from where I dined. I was just to the left of the grand staircase.

I agree about the animals, Dave!! We didn't really see them until late afternoon. We loved Morimoto Asia and I can't wait to go back there!!
We move to the Boardwalk and the Adlers are coming!!
Day 9. November 11th. Part 1.
Even though we stayed out late last night, I was up bright and early this morning! I took a walk around the grounds and snapped some photos along the way.
Then I called Adrienne. She and Dave were already at the airport. They were all checked in and waiting for their flight to board. She said they were up at 4:00 AM and called an Uber to take them to the airport without a problem. They followed all of the instructions for DME and placed their luggage tags on their suitcases before dropping them off. I knew she would do fine with all of this but I was very proud of her!!
I quietly packed most of our stuff up and Muffin slept right through it!! We had an 8 AM ADR at Boma, but Muffin asked if I would mind going without him. I didn’t mind at all and told him I would wake him when I got back.
When I got back to the room, Muffin was already dressed and packed. We know we could have had our luggage sent over to the Boardwalk, but we decided to just bring it along and we called a Lyft. We got picked up without incident and arrived at the Boardwalk Inn by 9:00 AM.
When we arrived, I went up to the check in area and explained that we had just come from AKL. I will digress a moment here to say that I also requested a Garden View room as that is what the CM that I talked to when I switched to the Boardwalk told me to do. For those of you that do not know that story.......
In short, we were staying originally at the YC for these four nights but did not like the idea of having puppies for neighbors so we switched over to the Boardwalk (although I wish it had been that simple to do so). After much run around, I got connected with an awesome CM who switched us over without a problem, hooked us up with birthday stuff and told me to request a Garden view room.
So back to the present, I had to tap my MB again and you guys will never guess what?!
IT DIDNT WORK!!
I now totally understand Cheryl’s frustration with the issues they constantly have with this! This time, though, the CM said to just go and enjoy ourselves and that it would be fixed when we came back. She assured me that it would continue to work in the Parks and with everything else.
Then she told us that we had been upgraded to a sort of Boardwalk view and we were very excited!! She was honestly almost as perfect as Mary Poppins until she was explaining where our room would be and said, “This is where your room is. It’s a partial Boardwalk view. This is where the full Boardwalk view rooms are for those that can afford them!” Muffin and I just looked at each other and started cracking up!! Since she was so great otherwise, we blew past her comment and moved on!
She also gave me a Happy Birthday button, so the CM that I had previously spoken with when changing resorts was true to her word! Muffin asked me if I was actually going to wear it and I said of course I am! I have to! I secretly think he was jealous! Anyway!
So far, the Boardwalk was an immediate hit with us! We loved the atmosphere and the location and we hadn’t even seen our room yet! By this time, Muffin was getting hungry so we strolled over to the Boardwalk Bakery where he got a scone and a package of fruit along with a mint tea. I was still stuffed from breakfast so I just hung out on the Boardwalk while he ate.
When he was finished his breakfast, we headed into Epcot. My absolute favorite thing about the Epcot resorts is the back door entry through the IG!! The World Showcase was still closed so we could only walk from England to Future World, but it is so nice to feel like you have the Park to yourself!!
We took our time strolling around and I texted Adrienne to see where they were. She told me that their flight was smooth as silk as was the process getting to the Magical Express. They were at the airport waiting for a bus and would text us when they got closer.
By the time we got to Future World, it was just about 11 AM so we thought we’d continue our walk around World Showcase on the Mexico side towards the International Gateway.
Figuring that the Adlers would still be a little while, we ducked into America to see the American Adventure. We hadn’t seen it in years and Muffin was really excited to see it again. Well!
To say he was disappointed is an understatement. They really need to update this show. It is such a shame that it is so outdated. The theater itself is beautiful. Anyway!
About half way through the presentation, Adrienne texted me to say that they were in the lobby at the Boardwalk! I had to wait to answer because we were still in the theater but we were so excited!!
When we came out of the theater, it was raining for the first time all week! We made our way back to the IG and found the Adlers in the lobby. The first thing we did was ask them why they brought the rain with them!! We told them the weather had been perfect until they arrived!!
We sure weren’t going to let a little rain stop our adventures so we all headed into Epcot and by the time we got to the entrance, it was pouring!! Then the rain let up and it was an off and on drizzle. We walked around towards Mexico and again it started to pour so we all went inside the Pavilion to dry off.
At this point we were soaked. Muffin was not in a happy mood and was very grumpy but the three of us were just glad to be together and on vacation, which only made him grumpier. He said he was going into the bathroom to dry off with paper towels and couldn’t understand why the three of us weren’t doing the same. Trust me when I say, paper towels would not do the trick!
He seemed a little better when he came out of the bathroom and we all browsed around Mexico, hoping that the rain had let up when we got out. It was so mobbed in this pavilion that there was even a line for the Grand Fiesta Tour! We joined in the line and it really only took about 20 minutes to get on. We checked outside when we were done finding Donald and sure enough, the sun was out! . Also, that was truly the only bad weather we would have for the whole trip!!
Adrienne so wanted a margarita but the line at La Cava was ridiculous!! I’m not sure if it was because of the rain or the F&WF but there is no way we were standing on that line for a drink. Instead we went to the Hawai’i booth where Meg and I had gotten a Pineapple sparkling wine earlier in the week and we each had one of those. Everyone thought they were delicious!!
Then we got a text that our rooms were ready, so we all headed back to the Boardwalk to shower and change.
We absolutely loved our rooms and even though they were standard view, they really were sort of facing the Boardwalk and Crescent Lake. We were on the 5th floor and our rooms were right next door to each other. Here are some photos of our beautiful rooms and the view:

We went back to Epcot for our first FP+ of the day at FEE and I know you will all be shocked to hear that it was down!! Anyway, we got a free FP+ that was good for any other attraction for the rest of the day.
We got the heck out of World Showcase and used our FP+ for Spaceship Earth because the standby line was 50 minutes!! When we got up to the front of the FP+ line, the CM let us all go in without scanning our bands so we wound up with another FP+!
Next we made our way over to Test Track and used our FP+ for that. Everyone except Adrienne loved the ride!! Adrienne thought she was going to die and wanted to get out while we were on the racetrack part. I had to keep telling her that was not a great idea! It wasn’t pretty but we all laughed about it afterwards and told her that she was very brave for trying it!!
Our next FP+ was for the much mellower Pixar Short Film Festival and we all loved that!! Having seen it earlier in the week with Meg, Colleen and her family, I knew this would be an awesome way for Adrienne to settle down.
Then we headed over to the Land and rode LWTL for our last FP+ for today.
We started back to the Boardwalk and were really excited to get ready for Party for the Senses tonight!!
When we got back to the Boardwalk, this was waiting for me:
Next: Our absolute, hands down number one highlight of our trip!!!!!
Nice score on your room! Do you remember what room # you had? I love American Adventure and am sorry it was a disappointment. We haven't been able to see it in a couple of years though.

Oh yes, it's always fun when the MagicBands don't work! Wow, you did get a real downpour, didn't you? Sorry Muffin was so grumpy. I can understand that. I hate getting drenched.
Another great day, glad the Adlers arrived safe and sound.
Thanks!!

This was the first time that mine did not, so I guess I can't complain too much! He gets over it quickly!

In the scheme of things, the rain was nothing!! It was a wonderful day!

So fun to be able to enter Epcot through the IG! Sorry about the rain, but thankfully, it cleared out for the remainder of the day (and the trip). Except for that rain, it seems to have been a pretty great start for the Adlers.
Another great day in WDW. Your room looks very nice at the BWI and you do get a decent view of the lake but not ideal. You got a lot done in Epcot and funny with Adrienne's reaction on TT. I love the pineapple wine in Hawaii and a good second choice to a margarita. I'm surprised you didn't try Mexico's F&W Fest kiosk outside which also has margaritas.
