Points make Paris... TRIP REPORT COMPLETED 6/29 - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your lunch at the pizzeria looked quite good and love the theming here!
Nice time in the parks with Buzz, POTC but too bad PM broke down. At least you got some photos of the backstage area. My last trip to WDW we were stuck on the HM for a good ten minutes or so and finally resumed. That's very odd with the rooms here and seems you were going in circles trying to find it. Too bad you don't have a better location in the hotel.

That's a lot of walking on top of a day of walking in the park! Exhausted indeed. The room does look very nice, if not a little small? Maybe it just appears that way in the photos, I don't know. Bummer the view is a little lackluster.
The room was quite big, certainly for European rooms - probably not by comparison with American ones though.
Don't you sometimes wonder who gets the close convenient rooms? I feel as though both our own experiences, and so many here on PP mention rooms at the farthest end of the corridor.
PassPorters always seem to be put at the end - they've must heard about our reputation!

Oh that's even more frustrating - you get stuck on it and then it gets going again and you miss seeing anything backstage!

One day we'll get a wonderfully located room... hopefully!
The room looks lovely!
Aww, poor Piglet! I don't think I've ever heard why Mark doesn't like Piglet.
He thinks he's a horrible bring pink colour and he also finds his character a bit pathetic, which I can sort of understand, as he is a bit useless at times.
….and went over to the Wild West Show. We could see there were people inside, so we opened the door, and we couldn’t get in. There was space further up ahead, but no-one could be bothered to bunch up into it. We tried to get in, and a woman nearby started to make snarky comments about being cold because the door was open. Well, how do you think we feel then, considering we’re stuck in the doorway?
Eventually, I suggested to Mark that perhaps we should go to the World of Disney and come back in a few minutes, when hopefully they’d have opened the doors, and we could get inside. Just as we agreed that, and were about to head out, snarky woman said something directly to me about closing the door – not in a pleasant way, in a downright rude way. I’d had enough of her mutterings, and frankly her plain rudeness, and I just turned round to her and told her to shut up, as we left. I know I probably shouldn’t have done it, but if she was so cold, get people to move forward, instead of trying to force others to wait outside. I have to say though her face was a picture! I did worry that we might be seated at her table for the show, but fortunately we never saw Mrs. Whinge Bucket again, which is probably just as well…
We headed over to World of Disney, and I do love the theming of this place…
However, the stock didn’t do much for us. I kept looking for the women’s clothes, and literally found some nightwear and about three different tops, and that was it. I do not know what Disney are thinking. Ok, so the main market is kids – I get that, but parents oddly have to come too, and there are a lot more adults at Disney, as often adults come on their own, as we do. What is the point in not having things they can buy? You’re missing a real trick!
The only thing of interest we did find was these:
However, they appeared to do something, as the signs said to try them, but I have no idea what they did, as none seemed to work, which wasn’t the greatest advert for them.
Once we’d finished browsing, which in truth only took a few minutes, we wandered back over to the show entrance, and thankfully Mrs. Whinge Bucket had disappeared, along with everyone else. We literally walked in and there was no-one there.
I did think this was a bit bad of Disney to tell everyone to get there an hour beforehand, and then not to be open. You’re just asking for trouble.
We found the lines a little further ahead, and got in the longer line, but after a couple of minutes, I realised there was one line (the long one) for category 2 and a very short one for category 1. I grabbed the tickets from out of my bag, and sure enough, I’d booked category 1 tickets. Result!
In literally a couple of minutes, we were seen by a member of staff. I asked if this was the place to declare I was vegetarian, and he told me it was. I got a print out for the wait staff to see.
I also asked if this was the place to declare allergies, as I know I couldn’t have the apple pie for dessert. He got out a card with other options on them, but one was peach and the other was pear, and as they’re both tree fruit as well, I’m allergic to those too. I told them it was fine, I’d just have the ice cream!
Once you’d done that, you were allocated your tickets for your table:
… and around the corner, you also received a hat with your team’s colour on it. I thought this was a nice enough idea, but I was surprised that they didn’t come with elastic to go around your face, as this would’ve made them easier to carry if you didn’t want to wear them, and presumably less likely for kids to lose them.
There was a bar, so we headed over there, and bought a bottle of white wine. I was expecting that this would be brought over to our table, but the idea was you carried your bottle and the glasses to go with it, which was a bit strange.
Can't believe the woman's nerve, but would've liked to have seen her face when you let her have it!
I wonder if the Eeyore slippers talked somehow?
Looking forward to hearing the details of the show.
Good for you to say something! That kind of rudeness is simply unnecessary. I wonder how many other people she did that too as well.
Your comment - parents oddly have to come too - really had me laughing!! So true.
Looking forward to the show!

That was crazy with that woman and for you to say something to her! Mrs. Whinge Bucket is an appropriate name for her! Looking forward to hearing about the show.

I totally agree about the clothes options and sizes. I'm pooh sized and could find little in the park that would fit even if it was supposedly my size. I am really looking forward to your report on the Wild West dinner because it will help me decide if we want to go.
Hope you'll luck out with the clothes in other stores during your trip as with most things you just need to shop around! All stores for the most part seem to be limited to what they offer, regardless of their size and variety. Can offer only so much!

It's just so frustrating they do that.

Ok, quick spoiler - go! Seriously, it was amazing, we loved every minute of it and will definitely be going back, but more coming up about that in a moment...
