What will it be for trip #3? (August 5-14, 2012) - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love your plans for the MK, I don't think you would have any trouble with Disney transportation to the MK in the am but the cab to the Contemporary is also a great idea and I find sometimes the ease of the cab is so worth the extra few dollars.
As for the Plaza, we love it there, food is good, good prices and we have gone several times after another PP (DisneyDani) turned us on to the amazing dairy free chocolate shakes, they are a favorite of Angel's. I would say keep the reservation, if for any reason you say "hey we really want to go to another park" they call DD and cancel or just walk up to the podium and tell them you will not be able to make it. This was you have the flexability to make the decision based upon how the day is going.
The Y.E.S program sounds like so much fun, Angel is getting pretty excited for hers as well (she is doing the Animal one at the AK). Can't wait to hear all about it.
We are looking into having Corinne take a dance workshop through the Y.E.S. program. I think it may be one of those times where I would want to make it a me-and-the-girls trip; Kelley could do a class and Corinne the dance workshop. I haven't had a chance to talk to the program reps in person and it looks as though the dance is not available to individuals, only groups. We'll check on it.
Can't wait to see what your kids think!
You will have to let me know if you find anything different about the arts programs. It also looked to me like it would just be for field trip groups...but I can imagine there would be a TON of interest!

If it is important to you, I would think about the cab.
Rapunzel was in the front of the park to the left when we were just there and I think that is where she will be staying for awhile.
As for the Plaza, I agree on the dining plan it's not a great value, but OOP, it sure is. Great food. However, I feel the place is rather small inside and at times could feel crowded for Hannah maybe? They do have some booth seating, but not sure if they could accomodate you quickly because of how few tables there are.
I have written in to our official plans to take a cab. I think it will be the best way to ensure a good start to the day. Thanks for thinking of Hannah with teh crowds...Maybe this is one I should call ahead to see if we could be seated against a wall???

This is an off day for us. We plan to sleep in as long as we need to. When we get moving, we plan to make our way to a water park and/or to DTD and DisneyQuest. I imagine that if we went back to the resort after Epcot we would be up early in the morning and would get an early start at the water park. In that case, I expect that we would be able to make it to the water parks early and the still be able to fit in DQ. What should we do if we do not get moving until closer to lunchtime? I fear that will be when the water parks are busiest and wonder if we should start at DQ and then go to the waterparks later? Since we have 7 “extra” visits, and not enough time to use all of them, I would not be concerned about spending only 2 hours or so at a water park; especially if those 2 hours would be less crowded than 4 hours midday.
We have a dinner ADR at Wolfgang Puck® Café at 5:30 p.m. When I made it…I planned for a water park early in the morning…then going to DTD and DQ. I am so excited to eat here…and even think I want to eat here twice…however…This time now seems to be limiting the flexibility I want on this day. Should we cancel it? Is there a better time to move it to? Should we try to get an ADR here on our arrival day?
No matter what we do…we will have an early bedtime this night…
All the plans look great! I also love that you're having a daddy/son and mommy/daughters time.
I would see about WGP on the arrival night. You have to eat and it's easy enough to go eat, look in a couple shops and then back to the resort for pool time and early bed.

Thanks for confirming what I was thinking..I made an arr for wgp on arrival day. We need to get our tix at dtd anyway...
Remember too you can take the nice boat ride to DtD from your hotel also. Cuts down on some chaos of the bus system. If WGP is important to you, then make it happen and treat yourself to something YOU really want too.
IDK the park hours for the WP's but when we went in Sep they didn't open until 10am, so getting there right as they opened was easy enough for us.
Your plans look great so far! I would keep your Plaza reservation on your MK day just for the sake of having an air conditioned place to go at dinner time! You won't have to worry about the crowds or hunting for a table. I do think that the inside is a bit smaller than your typical table service restaurant though, so you may want to request an out of the way table to benefit your daughter.
One of the reasons that your children (esp. your daughter) may like EPCOT the best is that it is SO much bigger and more spread out compared to the other parks. Its so much easier to move and get around!
As for your park hoppers, I would use them as an added bonus depending on how your family is feeling. If you do a park, and in the evening everyone is up for it and you want to go to a different park (like DHS for EMH on your EPCOT day) then go for it. If you only end up going to one park per day, no big deal. You got such a great deal on your park tickets it is a nice bonus to have the hopper and the 'fun visits' for the waterparks and DQ.
Your Crystal Palace breakfast should be great and allow you some quiet time in the MK. One time I went on a tour that allowed us into the park before it opened and it was amazing... no one around just us and the castle! Not to mention you should get a great seating location in the restaurant. I would just take a bus to the MK directly from your resort, they run starting about 2 hours before the park opens.
And on your arrival day I would do as someone else said: take the boat to DTD to get your park tickets, walk around, shop, eat dinner at WGP, maybe swim a little bit at the resort and then early to bed. Everyone will be exhaused from your early wake up and from travelling, so an early bed time is a must to make sure everyone is ready to have a magical day in the parks!
I'm looking forward to hearing more about your trip plans!
