The "I-can't-think-of-a-cool-catchy-title-for-this-PTR" PTR - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. You made those... ok Martha Stewart... wow! Love it! They are incredible!
I always tell mom I should have Meri audition to be a hobbit in the new movie. She'd be perfect with her little mop of wavy hair and her height (or lack thereof)... and she's a little stinker, like most Hobbits are. And then I'd get to spend a few months in New Zealand for filming, lol, and I'd get paid lots of money for it! Just sayin!
Maybe your boys could audition, too... though I'm not remembering any vampires in The Hobbit... I'm sure he could revamp (har har) his image and be a hobbit along with Meri!
You all will love the Osborne Lights! If you can't find the purple cat, a CM can't tell you, but they can give you hints. Great costumes! You deserve a pat on the back!
The costumes look amazing! I, too, will give you a pat on the back. I wish I had the patience to make the girls some clothes and costumes. I envy anyone who is talented in sewing. My mother is, but didn't pass it on to me at all.
I'm so glad I got on here before you left! I'm glad those CDs are coming in handy and I hope they allow Jason to try some new rides. Dylan also rode ToT, but it didn't go over so well.
Those costumes are FANTASTIC! Great job!
You'll love 50s - and the smores! OMG! Heaven! The Osborne Lights are fantastic as well.
You're going to have such a great time! I'm jealous!
P.S. I hate to hear about all the snow and cancelled Halloween festivities. This year it was probably one of the best Halloweens. It's usually chilly and rainy here, but we had a high close to 70 during the day and a perfect night for trick or treating. Sorry about my gloating there.

You know normally I'd respond to all of you, but well, I've got 45 minutes left of work, then I have to go home finish packing...do some last minute shopping and clean the house. Plus get all the mousekeeping envlopes printed, update my calendar because park hours have changed and post a couple last updated for you all. So...thank you so much for all the compliments on the costumes. I really do enjoy making them even if it's crazy while it's going on. And even with the snowed out Halloween...the boys still had a great time!! On with the show...
Friday 11/11:
This morning I have been waiting for for 3 years!! I am finally going to see MK RD if it’s the last thing I do!! We tried in 2008, didn’t happen mostly because we just didn’t all get our butts moving fast enough. In 2009 we tried twice, but the busses at BC didn’t cooperate. We waited for ever and then for 3 MK busses and didn’t make it. Craig has assured me that we’ll just get a cab this year because he doesn’t want me to miss it. (I think it’s more that he doesn’t want to live with me if I do miss it ). I really just want to make sure I see RD, then we have our family traditional breakfast at Ohana. We get to visit the Poly…our ‘old’ favorite. And we really enjoy this breakfast and the characters.
After breakfast I have to rectify a rather egregious omission on my part. I’ve NEVER been inside the GF!! ( Gasp…I know) But, on our way back to MK for the day we’re going to stop at the GF and look around. I’m thinking of stopping in Basin and picking something up. What is the “Must Have” from Basin??
After our day in MK, we’ll leave and hop on a bus for AKL. This was supposed to be our last night here and we wanted to go out on a high note with regard to dinner, so we booked Jiko. Because Craig and I LOVE it and because they have kids pizza on the menu for Jason. I also think the boys will really love looking around this resort. Maybe even want to come “Home” here for a future stay.
Trivia: (Again, here’s a couple because well…we’re leaving tomorrow morning)
-The third most recycled material at Disney is Manure! (of course the boys loved that one)
-Since 1971, the total miles logged by the WDW monorail trains would be equal to more than 30 round trips to the moon.

This was supposed to be a partial day with our flight leaving at 6:30 we assumed DME pick-up would be around 3:30. But…as you know Delta thought it would be fun to throw a wrench in the works and we now have a full day here. Well, we’re going to keep it a not-too-late full day because now I imagine our DME pick-up time will be slightly earlier being as our flight is now at 7:35am. (I’ll have to let you all know how these early morning flights we have this trip work out for us).
So…for today, we’re going to try to hit DHS EMH for a last ride on TSMM, maybe have a new adventure on Star Tours and of course the big boys are going to want a last ride on RnRC and I’ll want to be dropped on ToT at least one more time. Maybe we’ll see any shows we hadn’t seen yet or maybe one more character at AA. Then we really don’t have any solid plans for the afternoon. We might brave the crowds at the last Saturday of F&WF to grab anything we may have missed and maybe a Grey Goose Slushie. Or maybe head back over to MK to say good-bye to the castle. Whatever we do, we’re going to have to call it a night early, pack and get our boys to bed early because 3:00am is going to come very early…again.
Trivia:
-WDW puts up 1,500 Christmas trees each holiday season.
-Yearly food and drink at Disney: 75 million cokes; 13 million water bottles; 10 million burgers; 6 million hot dogs and 9 million pounds of french fries. (I plan on adding to this total next week )
