An Animal Kingdom State of Being with Cam and Fam COMPLETED 9/18 - Page 140 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

All caught up after being away. A couple of great updates Cam! Love all the giraffe pics - I actually thought of you when I bought a giraffe watch on our trip (hope that's not creepy! LOL!) Stef looked so cute while sharing all her Tink treasures with Tinkerbell, and Tinkerbell looked suitably impressed
Anyone who knows me here and doesn't associate me with giraffes has not been paying attention. I'm honored that you thought of me!

The lugging of our luggage was a bit of a chore. Hope the computers are working next year.

Luke and I wondered that very thing, but she didn't explain further so I'm not sure.
Great start to your last day. The sequence of photos with Aurora is priceless! I do have to say that your shopping list is making my shopping list longer. I definitely have to stop at Basin to get some Dr Spot (trust me--I really need it--you should see the condition of some of my work shirts) and now I have to go search through Mousegears for the auto magnets! I need to Disneyfi my car!
I have read a few of your trip reports but it wasn't until I saw your last two days that I noticed you guys color coordinated your outfits. Was that on purpose because it is a great idea. It will be so easy to pick scrapbook page colors.
I love your orange T-Shirt from AK. I'm going to look for one when we go.
We have a zoo near us in columbia, SC where there are giraffes that you can feed and when I look at our pics it makes me think of your great encounters at AKL. Your pics are great, hopefully one day we can stay there.
The pics of Stef with Tink are my favorites, she looks so cute. I hope she is adjusting well to getting back to school instead the her lazy days of summer.
You haven't mentioned your DH's feet, how did they do the rest of the week? We have had people get sick at Disney before but never anything broken. My DH is a big baby when it comes to things like that. He would have been a bear. LOL
Of course you do a bazillion updates while I'm away, but I'm all caught up now. Looks like you found a bunch of cute stuff on your shopping trip. The photos of the giraffes are amazing, and I can't believe your trip is coming to an end!
I can't believe we are at the last day I don't want to see it end so feel free to drag this last day out as long as you can, this way I won't feel the loss of my daily "Cam" read.
Sorry for the luggage issue, we had that last year, it was so strange (and not fun) having to wait on line at MCO to chck in our bags...definitely DME spoiled.
Love the character interaction on your last day, so glad Stefanie got to visit with Tink and wonderful shots of her with Marie, Aurora and Belle.
I really love all the pictures you got from the Friendship boat - that is now on the top of my list for next year as we still have never gotten on one yet. It really is such a beautiful view of the WS.
Thanks for the information. I was wondering about the color coordination too. Sorry to see your trip coming to an end. I have enjoyed reading about it and look forward to seeing how the rest turns out.

Dr. Spot is terrific. I've even used it on carpet stains because it gets them up. I have the blue monorail on the back of my Edge and the Peace, Love, Mickey on the side panel that runs between the front and back doors. They make me smile!

We don't usually dress to match on purpose. We did back in November when we went for Christmas because I wanted great holiday pictures. She still has Tuesdays off which allows her to still spend the day in her pjs. Luke's feet were sore the rest of the week and still hurt him off and on even now. But he doesn't let it stop him at all.

The fairy PhotoPass borders are some of my favorite along with the ones for Toy Story.

Sorry to hear about the luggage thing. Was it only SWA or all airlines that were having problem with the DME software???
Thanks, C
It was just a problem with SWA, hopefully one that will not happen again in the future.

I have to write when I'm off from school because I don't have time otherwise. I did my homework tonight from 6:00 until 8:00, so my time on the boards is limited through the week.

I keep wondering what I'll do when I've got this trip report done, and it is still 7 or 8 months until the next trip.
The luggage situation did steal some of the DME magic for sure.
You've got to ride the Friendship Boats. They are slow but for Stefanie it is a much faster way to get places at Epcot with its large size.

I was really pleased with the Epcot borders this year. Much more colorful!

I guess I didn't even notice we coordinated the last few days. We were down to the last outfits packed, so it's actually amazing that we matched.

No internet for the past week and I find myself way behind in your report. Your last days in teh parks were very enjoyable reading and the pictures were once again GREAT. Your view out the window of your room is fantastic. I have started plannign our next trip and I am really trying to get into one of the AK resorts. Got to go through RCI and trade our timeshare. Not having much luck with that proposition yet. Everything must be booked up for now.
