PTR MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM IN THE FORT FOR THE HOLIDAYS REVISITED - Page 14 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Things are progressing well on that front. Another camper and I have taken the lead on organizing it The Membership Committee representative has announced his plans so a date of 5Jan for lunch has been set. Hosting duties will likely fall to us (We need the extra points for our application) and exact number of attendee's will take a bit to finalize but there is time.
Sounds like things are coming together for the meets!

Things are all falling into place for that group to meet each other with the added bonus that we will likely be joined a guest of honor a long term Ft W CM that has help many of the attendees in the past.
These all sound like great plans! I'm especially looking forward to the new Star Wars movie, as they did some filming right near one of the places I stayed in Ireland last summer!

would that be anywhere near Crough Patrick in lovely County of Mayo. UP MAYO
Sunday we were channel surfing the listings page of our provider and found a new program on Animal Planet Channel regarding Animal Kingdom, while they highlighted a number of the attractions we all know so well they did dedicate a fair amount of time to Pandora and the newer after dark additions. Will have to tap my inner Tara O and make some changes. The evening Safari looks fantastic. Rivers of light is high our list as a FP selection and Pandora after dark just looks so breath taking we will dedicate an entire evening to just exploring what it has to offer.
Jan. 2 will see us back in DS with lunch at Homecoming. So much is new here it will likely be a multi visit location for us. Odds are will head back to Ft W early as friends from another board will be arriving that day. Their one dog looks like our WookieBear and we are all really looking forward to meeting up
Jan 3 is an Animal Kingdom day and right now we are looking at making it a mid day early evening trip in order to enjoy the holiday decorations still up and enjoy some of our favorite stops here. Dinner will likely be back at the Coach but we are checking out some of the CS options in AKP to take the edge off as tour. We are hoping to have a preliminary meeting with the rep for the membership committee as he is scheduled to arrive that afternoon ( Have to butter him up all I can)
Jan 4 is a day dedicated to the girls and the Fort. I expect more than 1 load of laundry will get done ( Washer dryer option for coach is a must for us even if they can really only handle like 2 days worth of clothing per load) We will also clean up our site and make sure it is sufficiently decorated for the Pot Luck luncheon we are hosting the next day
My goodness, those are some great plans, Mike!! Muffin and I are so looking forward to Pandora!!. I love how you and Lucille mix it up between parks and chilling out!!
For anyone interested in seeing what or current cast of characters looks like let me refer you all to Disboards.com The CAMPING AT DISNEY WORLD forum Sub-forum THE CAMPING COMMUNITY thread SKY AND KATIE"S FIRST TIME ADVENTURING. I post over there under the name FtW Mike . I spend time there as they have a foru dedicated to camping at DISNEY and Camping in general. They have a photo posting option I will explain in DMA's thread Anyone get these messages from Photobucket.

Tara as this trip will be a stay of nearly 30 days we have plenty of time to tour and chill. Considering the crowds we anticipate for the holidays we are planning less park time and more resort and resort hopping days. Sky and Katie will still be "Puppy's " so they will need more supervision and play time so touring for Mom and Dad will need to be planned accordingly ie Mid morning to early evening or mid afternoon to early evening.
We're looking forward to Pandora, too. Luke has been reading and watching the progress there since the day it was announced. Flame Tree BBQ at AK is always a great meal and it really is reasonably priced for the size of the plates. I usually get the 1/2 chicken plate.
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Plans look good Mike and those are some quite active days for the clan!

I think we have all been looking for info on PANDORA considering how long and the number of news items and rumors surrounding it. That show was worth the time as it did highlight an wide segment of old faves and newer options at AK. Thanks for heads up on Flame Tree BBQ but as Lucille is so allergic to most pork products we avoid places that have that much of it the menu Me on the other hand are liking them ribs

Thanks Dave Our days a have a plan of what we want to do but do provide plenty of leeway to just go with where the day leads us.
Jan 5 This day will be dedicated to our Meet and Greet with fellow campers. We have decided that lunch time works best for the runners among us. So we will spend most of the day in The Fort. If things break up early enough we may head over to MK for the evening if not hopefully the Movie showing in the Meadows complex will be something we will enjoy
6 Jan today is up in the air. Based on when the race (1/2 Marathon) ends and where we might go to cheer on some of those we met over the last few days . Most likely if we decide to do any touring we will head over to AK as we both love going there
7 Jan Today we are at long last going to Chef Mickey's. I don't know why years ago I never went and in more recent trips Lucille has been reluctant. But now with a Brunch menu we both figure why not give it a try. Worst thing that can happen we don't like it . I suspect we will head back to the coach and the girls for a trip to wagging Tails before we head off to MK for the evening where we will likely have a late dinner at The Plaza
