Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Tuesday March 14th-

It was another beautiful day today!! I was up by 7:00 AM, showered, dressed and ready to take on the day!! Muffin was up shortly after and we decided to hunt up some breakfast.

Also, we loved our room this time and we slept great!!!! In fact, we had some of the best sleep we've have gotten in a long time all week!!

We strolled around and found this place and thought the menu looked good:

We were not disappointed and we really enjoyed our breakfast here:

I got eggs Benedict and home fries:

Muffin had a salmon platter:

I took a few more photos on the way out:

After breakfast, Muffin had to go and set up his booth for the trade show and I took off for a nice walk. Today, I stayed on this side of the Strip and I intended to walk all the way down to the Tropicana!!

The Wynn is located at the very end of the Strip and when you get outside and look down the street, it is very deceptive. The other resorts look much closer than they actually are and there are crazy ways to get to them! For some of them, you have to cross Las Vegas Blvd. and then cross back! Traffic is nuts in Vegas so you basically have to use bridges to get anywhere.

Leaving the Wynn:

For example, The Venetian is next door to the Wynn but it is actually 0.9 miles away!! We didn't actually get inside here last night, so regardless of anything else I got to, this was a must do for me. I loved the Palazzo with it's beautiful shops and restaurants. You can even take a gondola ride in here and it is a fun place to people watch. Unfortunately, I was having such a great time wandering around that I did not take any pictures!!

When I was through strolling through here, Muffin texted me and told me he was done setting up already and the he would meet me at the buffet for lunch.

I headed back out on the Strip, having only made it to one resort this morning!. Hopefully, we would get to more later on.

As I mentioned previously, the Wynn Buffet is the best one on the Strip, IMHO!! Here are a few photos from lunch:

After lunch, we decided since it was so hot out today, we would go for a swim!! We headed back to our room to get changed:

And made our way down to the pool:

After a lovely swim, I made Muffin take a walk back to the Venetian with me to grab some photos since I didn't get them earlier!. We had some time before our High Roller adventure anyway.

The Venetian:

Then we headed down Las Vegas Blvd.:

We still had some time so we wandered around the Mirage for a bit:

We made it over to the Linq, where the High Roller is housed and honestly from the front side on Las Vegas Blvd., we were not impressed. But! When you walk through the complex and come out on the side off the Strip, it is delightful!! You walk down a cobblestone street lined with all kinds of cute shops, restaurants and bars!

We had time to stop for a drink before riding the High Roller so we went to the Yard House for a brew:

When we came outside, there was a gentleman drinking the craziest Bloody Mary I have ever seen so I asked him if I could take a picture of it:

Finally, it was getting a little dark outside so we headed over for our ride.

The High Roller:

We were lucky enough to ride with just one other couple, who were delightful, and the best bartender ever!!

The other couple were celebrating their first anniversary and their names were Josh and Celestia. Josh had a British accent and was indeed from England. They had met overseas doing mission work and he followed her back here and now lives in Idaho and says he loves it!!.

The bartender was Linda and she was from our area and even knew our town and a few of the same people!! The ride was a totally fun half an hour and went all too fast!!

Here are some pics:

Celestia and Josh:

Linda:

After this wonderful experience, it was time to walk back to the Wynn for our dinner at La Cave. We arrived just in time for our meal and were seated out on the patio. The entire menu is tapas here. This dinner was delicious from start to finish and our server, Tracy was amazing!! She helped us sort through the many dishes available and had us choose just the right amount of food to share.

I even thought the plates were cool here:

Muffin ordered Jumbo Lump Crab Lettuce Cups with Citrus segments:

And Wagyu Beef sliders:

I got Bacon Wrapped Dates:

And Diver Sea Scallops:

We shared everything and it was all wonderful!!

Tracy, our server:

After our amazing day, I think the time change had caught up with us and literally could not keep our eyes open!! We went straight upstairs after dinner and fell asleep.

Next: Photos from Wednesday, March 15th.

We so need to get back to Vegas! I think the last time we spent any decent time there was back in 2008... we drove over there in 2009 and then spent the afternoon there, before flying home, but even that was a long time ago. I love the look of the High Roller and there were some very British parts too - made me feel very patriotic!

An incredible day! Love all the photos around the Strip, but especially the ones from the High Roller. Seeing the home fries with your breakfast has made me decide that I need to make some of those as I haven't in a while.

Oooh, you're TR made me talk to DH about going back this summer. I definitely didn't get my fill with 3 nights on the strip! There is JUST SO MUCH TO SEE!

We didnt' do the high roller, but I appreciated traveling along with you. The lettuce wraps looked especially appealing to me!

Wednesday March 15th

This morning, we went to the Wynn buffet for breakfast!! You may ask, how can we be so excited about a buffet breakfast?! You may also wonder why the heck we are returning here when we have so many other choices!! Honestly, besides the convenience, the food is wonderful. The breakfast buffet is 35.99 and you honestly get a feast!!

I realized that yesterday, I didn't actually take any photos of the buffet itself so here are some photos:

I know I took a walk after breakfast but I honestly can't remember how far down the Strip I got. When I came back, it was 89 degrees so I got my bathing suit on and went swimming before lunch.

I did make Jardin for lunch and I am so glad!! This is another beautiful restaurant with delicious food!!

Here are some photos:

This is the gorgeous carpeting in the Esplanade:

I got a French cucumber martini:

And an adult grilled cheese and tomato soup:

Both were delicious!! After lunch, I went up to the room to read for a bit and then it was time for my hair appointment at 3 PM!!. I really just got a wash and clean up but I was very happy with the results and it was a relaxing way of spending a couple of hours!!

When I was finished, I went to the casino for a bit while waiting for Muffin and lost about 60 bucks. Since we had eaten a big breakfast and lunch today, we decided to just grab something light for dinner and then take a walk.

We wound up at the deli and I got a salad while Muffin got a burger. We walked the Strip for a bit after we ate and then called it a night as we both had to get up early tomorrow morning.

Next: Photos from Red Rock Canyon! March 16th.

That breakfast buffet would get me excited about breakfast too!

Jardin was a very pretty restaurant, and made a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup look fancy!

Dining in Vegas looks so scrumptious, even the adult tomato soup and grilled cheese.
