As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Amazing patience but a trip you will always treasure!
I have 4 kids, didn't take our first trip to WDW until the youngest was 5. It amazes me how parents do it with children so young but looking at your pictures it saddens me that I don't have the same of mine. We plan and plan and plan some more to make the best memories but it's the unplanned moments like when your son takes his sister's hand that are priceless. A great TR, thanks for sharing!

Sounds like a good day at AK. Even if Cam is a little cranky - little one will do that. I think it is just Nile Crocs on the safari so it was probably an alligator over in Dinoland. My son calls them all crocodiles. They are the one with the pointer mouths.
Great day at AK! Glad you were able to find a tucked away Donald but sorry that your mom wasn't feeling great
We were lucky to find Donald. I think it was one of Mallory's favorite things we did. She loves looking at the pictures from that meet!

It was a pretty good day. Minus the dreary weather, but that didn't stop us! Mal loves her some Donald! Although she's now more obsessed with Daisy.

We managed to have a good time.

Felt bad that Cam was not tall enough for EE but I am sure that will be the top on his list for the next trip.
I think the kids liked this park a lot. MK was their favorite, but I'm pretty sure AK was second. EE is still a sore spot for Cameron, but he will hopefully be tall enough next time.

Mal picked her nose a lot while taking pictures on this trip. I have no shortage of pictures to show her future suitors.

He wasn't crabby all day, but it can be a bit annoying even when it doesn't last. I'm actually surprised Mallory wasn't successful at shoplifting something. Kid is like a ninja!

Life with kids is always up and down. Cam's "issues" weren't that bad and we had a good time. We just had to cater to what he wanted to do.

I will say that our trips since having kids have been more stressful than trips in the past. It's about 100x more work to bring them along, but still a good time. The kids have a blast and love to talk about the trip and look at pictures. I figure we like going and why should having kids stop us? To some degree you have to modify your life after kids, but when possible we try to incorporate them into what we were already doing. Luckily for us we're big kids and it's easy to include them in WDW trips!

I will likely never know the difference as I'm not really that interested in crocagators. But he was happy either way so I don't worry about it.

Thanks! Mallory tells a lot of stories, but was quite animated while talking to Donald. You could tell she loves him!
So I am 100% dedicated to finishing this TR. I only have 1.5 days left for goodness sake. Life and work have sucked all of my time sadly. The kids and I have been fighting colds and I've been on call 24 Hrs for the last month at work. It's been exhausting. Luckily the legislative deadline is next Monday so work should slow down. When it does I'll be back to finish this thing!
Busy time at work is done so it's time to finish this TR up!
February 7th, 2014
This morning we were fairly lazy. I had forgotten to set an alarm and by this late in the trip I think we were all tired. We were heading to the Magic Kingdom to check out what we weren't able to accomplish and also to re-visit some favorites. It was rainy and cold, which didn't help motivate us to get moving.
Eventually we made it to the bus stop, but had quite the wait for a bus. Even so we made it to the park by 10:30 AM. Mallory's mouse ears had a bit of a problem so we headed to get that taken care of. And of course had to put silly things on our heads.
As you can see we already pulled the ponchos out. It was a steady rain all morning. We got Mallory's ears fixed and headed off to Fantasyland for a spin on the tea cups as we had missed them the day before. The kids had a blast and Cameron took his spinning job very seriously.
We had a FP+ for the Barnstormer. We combined it with baby swap and Cameron got to ride with Daddy and then with me. He was on cloud nine. Mallory didn't seem to notice that she was being left out. She happily played while others rode the roller coaster. Since we were already in Fantasyland I tweaked our FP+ for meeting the princesses so that we could take care of that. It was a big pain with the mobile app, but I finally managed. Soon we were meeting Cinderella and Aurora. Cameron was not interested in this at all. He kept saying "No only Mallory." We told him sometimes we had to do things that other people wanted and that he got to ride the roller coaster when Mallory didn't and that he had to at least be nice and let her meet the princesses. He was semi-well behaved and I told the princesses that he was allergic to them. They told me that was a serious condition for him with the little princess he has for a sister.
With Cameron being cranky about the whole thing and Miss Mallory being a little overwhelmed and tired it wasn't the best meet, but Mallie sure does like looking at the pictures of herself with the princesses. Even if she doesn't look happy in the pictures. Also, if you enjoy "Where's Waldo?" I invite you to play "Where's Cam?" He is in every picture even if you can only see a small portion of him.
After meeting up with the princesses we figured we had better get some lunch as the moods of the children were heading in a direction that we didn't want. We had a 12:30 PM BOG FP+, but decided that it would be too long to wait. So sadly we never did make it to BOG. Oh well. Next time. Instead we headed off to Frontierland and grabbed some grub at Pecos Bill's which the kids seemed to enjoy. We had a FP+ for BTMR that we told Cameron about. Well it wasn't time for it after lunch and he wasn't happy. We decided to take a spin on the train and hope by the time we got back it would be time.
Apparently the train is faster than the time it takes a FP+ to ripen - and I couldn't switch it to earlier (I tried) and the line was 60+ minutes long, which isn't good for a 3 year old. We noticed Woody and Jesse out for a meet so we decided to do that. We grabbed some taffy from the gift shop and hopped in their line. Cameron likes Toy Story. It isn't his favorite, but he likes it. I thought he would enjoy meeting Woody. Well... he kept complaining that he wasn't interested. Not a screaming fit - just complaining. We stuck it out in line and it was soon our turn. Cameron was a little rude and refused to get out of his stroller. Oh well buddy.
With the way he was acting about it I almost just got out of line, but decided to stay. And I'm so glad I did as it was my FAVORITE meet of the trip. Of course Cameron never left his stroller and was just kind of pouty, but we had a blast with Woody and Jesse. They paid a lot of attention to Mallory and were just kind of funny with their gestures. Mallory seemed to really like Jesse.
After quite a bit of time I said that we should get going to do something fun with "Mr. Crankypants" and Woody kind of shooed me away and kidnapped my baby! All while telling me to just move along and that he was going to keep her.
Then the high-fives and tickles started.
And the nose picking, which Woody made fun of her for.
And then it was time to leave, which I'm pretty sure Mallory had no interest in. She looked at Daddy's hands and said "no".
I felt kind of bad for Cameron as he was just sitting in his stroller, but then I remembered that he got to ride on rides that Mallory couldn't and she had to wait for him. He could wait for her. Plus he was just pouting and he was going to tackle BTMR in a few minutes. And that's what we did. Cameron was so excited to go on the big roller coaster. And thanks to baby swap he got to ride twice. He rode with me first and then with Daddy. By the time we were done Mallory was fast asleep.
I'm not sure exactly what we did after BTMR, but I'm pretty sure it involved snack time. And then something over in Adventureland as I know right before Mallory woke up we got these baby's:
Cameron LOVED these. And they're my favorite too. Can't believe we missed getting them on our first MK day. Mallory woke up just in time to snag one of the final bites. She enjoyed it, but it wasn't chocolate so I don't think it was her favorite treat.
We had a dinner reservation at O'hana, but had just enough time to fit in another ride. I had a FP+ for Fairytales with Belle, but Cameron said he didn't want to and I didn't want to deal with a crabby child. I suppose I could have just taken Mallory as I really wanted to experience this new attraction, but I decided to swap the Belle FP for a Buzz one. And we did that instead.
Our pictures are soooo attractive. After that it was time to head for the monorail. We wanted pictures with our mouse ears and the castle. Cameron apparently didn't and wouldn't put his back on. So once again he's missing from the pictures. Oh well. Next time maybe he'll participate.
Then we boarded the monorail and headed to dinner.
Love that last pic! Sorry Cam was a bit cranky at the meets, but he did get to ride the roller coasters so only fair! Looks like you were able to get a lot in at MK, and personally, I don't think you missed anything by skipping BOG : but I know many disagree.
Sorry about "Mr. Crankypants" but I have to say - I LOVE the pic of Mallory with Jessie!!! The one where she is sort of pointing at her!!! What a DOLL!!!!

I love that last picture too. I just wish it included Cameron as well. Next time. I'd still like to try BOG sometime, but I know it was a good idea for us to skip it this time.

I really ended up liking all of the pictures with Woody and Jessie. That was the best meet of the whole trip!

I'm finding with little children there is always a crankypants. At some point during the day at least one of them will be cranky. It was a little disappointing in WDW, but it is what it is. We made the best of it and got some good pictures!

I really wish Cameron was in that picture too! But you can't win 'em all. We'll just have to go back and try again!

Thanks! It's harder than I thought pleasing both children. Even more so now since Mallory has more opinions on things, but they have to learn that some people like different things and EVERYONE gets a turn.
