As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm so glad you guys made the best of yet another rainy day. Come to think of it . . . I don't think it's stopped raining since you got here . . . maybe if you come back it will stop?
Love Josie's hat! Her & Dylan can be twins in them.
That was quite the random day, but seems like you still got things done and had an ok time doing it.
Ole!
Sometimes those random Disney days can be the most fun. We've had so many of those "Duh" days that other people would probably get upset about because they'd feel like they're missing out on seeing EVERYTHING, but to me it's just a more causal and carefree way of doing things. And what is this secret door you speak of? And why do I not know about it?
Aww, Josie as the Beast was great! Of course Jason and Tyler are already fighting over who can be Beast. I keep telling them they don't get to choose
Love the picture of Andre and Ariel...too cute!
PVH flatbread...LOVE!!
Of course you matched the Beast
Great totally random day. I'd like to try that. Maybe this trip... Maybe not... (Just let go...just let go)
And yeah...a shot can make you do things.
There's always plenty to do at WDW even when you have no idea what you're going to (or actively) do! Sound like fun was had and the kids sure look like they enjoyed themselves. And with your strong rita I'm sure you and DH did as well.
A random Disney day at its finest! We had one of those on our trip, too! We did discover on our trip last month that you can ride BTMMR and Splash in the pouring rain as long as there isn't any lightning.
Well that is good to know about the coasters....I will remember that one!!

Yeah, not what we had planned, but that was what made it fun too though., Well funny really.

It's the exit door right at the first part of BC you get too from Epcot, by room 1501 or something like that, we just popped in there to get out of the rain quicker. We did that on our way to the park one night also, just keeps you a little drier....if possible.

Once back at the BC we took advantage of the little patch of sun we were having and high tailed it to the pool. The kids of course went down the little slide about 157 times and then we moseyed over to the main pool for a bit while Arnaud and I took turns going down the big slide. Josie really wanted to go on this, and I really wanted to let her, but I know as soon as she would hit that part where you go under the waterfall and get blasted in the face with water, she would somehow find a way to stop herself and hold up traffic for god only knows for how long. We had a long talk about it and I explained that she would love it, but would you be OK with getting blasted in the face twice. She went back and forth on it and then finally decided she would try next year. We swam around as much as we could and then all too soon we saw the dark clouds rolling in so we took the hint and headed up to the room. Of course in between showers and getting cleaned up, we took turns going down to the lounge to see what was being offered………and well if it wasn’t white chocolate covered pretzels, Swedish fish and trail mix……AGAIN. I really am not expecting a huge spread during the afternoon offerings, but my word, you couldn’t mix it up, just slightly?? We watched the rain come down harder and harder and really didn’t know what would be best for getting to dinner tonight at CRT; we decided we would cab it since I didn’t feel like waiting around for a bus in the incredible humid and wet weather we had been having. So after getting dressed we headed down to the lobby to hail a taxi.
On the way however there was a bad accident somewhere in front of the Poly and traffic was backed up really bad, our cabbie had suggested that he drop us of at the CR and walk from there. I was fine with that because we could poncho up and at least not be late for our ADR, so that is what we did. The walk from the CR to MK was so quick, our minds have been changing on staying at the CR for that reason now…..I like being close to MK, in case you all haven’t figured that one out yet.
So again we made another mad dash up MS and checked into CRT. Soon enough we were meeting Cindy in her new hair and dress………I have to say, I do like it. She was sweet and once she had met with everyone in the waiting area and there was a bit of a lull in people coming in, she came over to a few of the kids and took their hands and led them into some ring around the rosy fun!!! She really spent quite a bit of time playing with the kids and I’ll have to admit at first I was too keen on this Cindy, but she quickly won me over.
Now up we were called to our table and we had a nice location and the royals were starting to come around. I really do love eating in the castle, it is so classic Disney, so old, so regal, so nostalgic for me, the characters are always great……however the food and the servers are absolute crap!! Sorry, but they really are. However, for some strange reason I tend to look past those 2 minor imperfections and we truly had a nice time in there tonight!
After dinner we went to ride the carousel. I like to ride this at night when it’s all lighted up, however we normally go in the fall and it’s darker earlier, so this was a switch. When the ride was coming to an end I heard all of these people oohing and ahhing and I had no idea what was going on until we got off and looked up. Rainbow over Fantasyland…..how flipping perfect. We didn’t know what the weather was going to be doing so we took a leisurely stroll out of MK and grabbed the bus back to BC.
It was still fairly early so we hit up the arcade a bit and also grabbed some ice cream from B&C. We got up into the room and got the kids ready for bed and just in time to watch Duffy too!! Arnaud and I grabbed some cocktails from the lounge, after chasing some CM down for them. After 8pm, they take the drinks away, you can still have them, but you need to ask for something and then they will go in the back and get whatever it is you wanted. I have no idea why they do this.
With the kids asleep, Arnaud and I both checked on work emails, watched some TV and then hit the hay as well.
I love Andre's little face during the wishing ceremony at CRT I wonder what he was wishing for!
I love eating in the castle for all the same reasons as you, for the classic Disney nostalgia it is so worth it for me
A rainbow over Fantasyland, how perfect!!!
I'm thinking your Cindy moonlights as Jasmine . . . not a great likeness, but I'm glad she was in the right spirit.
I completely agree about the food at CRT, although I think breakfast has gotten better and dinner has gotten worse. Service at CRT makes me crazy. Every table of 4--2 adults and 2 children at dinner is a $200 table with gratuity included. I WISH I had that job. That's about a $35 tip on every table of four! Can I imagine making $400 a night--yes. Talk about your dream job in the service industry! However, because the tip is included the service there tends to be lacking.
What a wonderful evening - only better food & service would make it better! I doubt I'll be eating in the castle again anytime soon so I'll live through you. What's with the guy behind Andre during the wishing ceremony - doesn't look too thrilled to be there. Sounds like a pretty perfect evening at MK and back at BC.
Goggles my friend! It's all about the goggles going down the slide. Just ask Jason.
I can't even get Craig to consider staying CR (says its too convention, and I get that) but I would love to with a theme park view. That's where I stayed with my grandparents when I was 4 for my first trip. (In the annex though, but still cool)
Love Josie with Aurora and Andre and Jasmine blowing kisses.
And a rainbow, of course it's perfect
