Just Me and My Girl ~ May 29-June 2, 2012 - Page 14 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I love strolling through the WS. Love your pics. I know it's hard not to go to MK the first day, but it's looking like on our next trip that will be the case for us too. It looks like a great first full day at the parks.
Sounded like a great afternoon and evening in Epcot. The I-phone takes some great pics.
The Lion King is coming to Tulsa next summer and I cannot wait. Mary Poppins will be here in Nov and Peter Pan I think in March. The girls and I are so excited.
Beautiful night at Epcot. That's my all-time favorite thing to do at Disney and to me, it sounds like the perfect ending to your first day.
Thanks Melissa. You know, the MK really holds a special place in my heart as that is the park(s) I grew up with but I love Epcot's WS. I didn't appreciate as much when I was in my early 20's but it has become one of my favorite places to be. Especially during the Food and Wine Festival. Oh and again Ms. Hope is just one cutie patootie! What an adorable siggy pic.

Thanks so much! It turned out to be a great 1st day. We made up for not going to the MK the first day by going almost everyday after that.

Thanks Liz. The iphone does take some pretty darn good pics. I couldn't believe it. The Lion King is this Friday for us. I missed Mary Poppins when it toured here as I think I was out of town. I'd like to know what ya think about Peter Pan.

Tammy. It has been my pleasure sharing even though I am spotty at best keeping up with this thing. Atleast I am ahead of the game versus the last attempt.
Which brings me to my next update, finally! YAY! Just a little disclaimer, if it starts to feel like you are having deja vu while reading this portion of my update then you probably are if you have been reading Kelly's (OhToodles!) TR.
And stay tuned, as we are rapidly approaching my cruise and deadlines are approaching even faster, I will be posting my PTR/TR in the cruise section a little later today. I will put a link to it in my siggy as soon as it's posted.
I was up before Steph. I’m usually up before anyone when it comes to vacations and traveling. I don’t sleep much as my brain doesn’t rest well until it finally gets too tired to go anymore. This trip was no exception. However, today was going to be an exciting and fun day no matter what as we had a lunch date with my favorite Disney characters and some Passporter characters! I went about the morning ritual stuff like draining the water out of the cooler and refilling it with fresh ice and getting myself ready. Steph until I was done around 9am when I woke her to get ready. I think we ate some fruit and breakfast bars we had in the room as I don’t show a receipt for any purchases for breakfast.
We were out the room around 10:30am and headed down to the boat dock for a boat to the MK. About 5-10 minutes later we were on our way. Our lunch at Crystal Palace with Winnie the Pooh and Gang and Kelly (OhToodles!) and her gang was around 12:30 so we had some time to kill before needing to head over there. Steph wanted to ride Space Mountain. The listed wait time was too long to ride before lunch so Fast Passes were in order. Our return time was at 2:15pm. We should be done with lunch by then. I suggested the People Mover as the line wasn’t long at all and it’s usually always moving. We walked right on and took our tour around Tomorrow World.
See the dark clouds starting to roll in?
We hadn’t been back at the People Mover station long when the skies decided to open up and share a little shower with us. We pulled out the ponchos we had purchased the day before , put them on and navigated our way over to Crystal Palace. Once there, I texted Kelly to let her know we had arrived. They would be done soon and not long after I spotted Kelly and her guys approaching. Steph got in line to check us in and it wasn’t a long wait before we were being seated. Dylan was having a blast with the characters and Stephanie. He was definitely smitten with Steph. They were having a big debate between them whether carrots were icky or not. Steph doesn’t like carrots and Dylan does. Dylan had me on his side for this one. He was even helping me finish off my carrots. Poor Lukas though. He liked the characters at a distance but once they would approach the table he wanted to be in the safety of Mommy’s lap. He would see Pooh from across the room and point at him and say “Poohhh” but really didn’t want any of them to get close by.

We were done with lunch and Pooh and the Gang around 1:40pm. Looking back on it now, lunch went by faster than it seemed at the time. It was a fun lunch and wonderful to see Kelly, Mike and Dylan again and finally getting to meet Lukas.
Dylan and Lukas had hair cut appointments next. I had never seen the Barber Shop so we decided to walk with them over there to check it out. It is a small, cute, little place that was hopping and overflowing with business. On our way to the Barbershop there was a Photopass photographer on Main Street and we all stopped to get some group shots.
Kelly ~ this one is for you. Doesn't it look familiar??
By now it was getting close to our SM Fast Pass time so Steph and I said our goodbyes and headed over to SM. We arrived at 2:05pm, a whole 10 minutes early and one of the two CM’s wouldn’t let us through. He asked us to step to the side until our time came up. , no problem, I know they are crackin down on the FP rules so we move to the side to wait. Well, as we are standing there, three groups of people with times after ours came up and they were let through. Sorry but I didn’t stay quiet after that. I asked why they let those groups through but wouldn’t let us two through. The CM that told us to wait was like “that was my partner who let them through.” So I turned to the other CM and asked “can we go in please?” He let us through with no issues. Steph had never ridden Space Mountain before this. When we were here last time together in June 2009, it was closed for refurbishment. She was very excited to get to finally ride it.
I don’t remember them putting the words on the photo screens in the past and I think this was the only ride that had them scrolling on the screens. I guess they are trying to discourage the phone photo taking of the ride photos. I normally buy the ride photos but didn’t this trip for some reason.
It is nearing 3pm at this point. I really wanted to do the Behind the Seeds Tour at Epcot and knew that I wouldn’t have the chance any other day but today. Steph and I decided that we would head over to Epcot and check to see if they had any openings left. There were only a couple more hours left for today’s tours and we hadn’t reserved any spots.
Next Up: Do we get signed up for a Behind the Seeds Tour in time??
Love your new sig pic! Looks like such fun at Crystal Palace with Kelly and the boys. Glad Dylan and Stephanie bonded. I love the pouty-sleepy face shot of Dylan.
So glad and jealous that you got to meet with Kelly and her family.
I have never tried CP, I really want to the next time I get back to WDW.
Awww Liz, thanks. And you need to try CP!! I love the interaction with the characters there. When David and I went last year for my 40th b-day, they were just as attentive to me even though there were no kids with us. It was great!

Thanks Laurie! Dylan loves the ladies! Kelly is going to have her hands full as the boys grow up. And you just wait til we see them again. I have some stuff to tell that's gonna make Kelly blush.
Dylan was go, go, go at lunch but within the walk to Main Street he was ready to pass out.
