A Coast to Coast Christmas - Phase One WDW - Page 14 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great day at DHS! I'm sorry Eileen wasn't feeling well, but I'm glad that you got to benefit from it!
I think Delores was our server at Beaches & Cream last month! She noticed my DS's birthday button and, after our meal, she turned out the lights and put on the sirens (just like they do for the Kitchen Sink), and announced his birthday and presented him with a balloon. We had just arrived at BC and our rooms weren't ready, so this was a great start to our vacation. Yay Delores!!
Wasn't the holiday display at YC great? I could have spent hours looking at all the details in the train village.
I knew exactly what you meant. I aspire to be like Cheryl one day since she puts the rest of us to shame with her mad TR updating skills. .
Oh wow - I am not worthy!
Thanks for the compliments guys... it is so much easier when you can write half of it during your trip and have it ready to post when you get home... that does help!
What a great start to the day - you riding Tower of Terror Sharon? What a shocker....
I'm so glad you guys got Delores - she's so great!

Sounded like a great start to the day. I'm glad you managed to squeeze in some extra drops on ToT (hey, favorite rides are favorite rides for a reason!) . B&C would be sooooo good right now! Burger, onion rings, cherry coke and a hot fudge sundae. Mmmmmm.
I love the "extras" in the background of this photo:
What a great time of year to get married at WDW with all the decorations!!

You guys did a great job criss-crossing DHS and fitting quite a bit in (between BR breaks, of course)...
Sorry to hear Eileen was feeling icky....and even worse that it hung around for so darn long. Seems to me, you girlies will just have to plan another trip when everyone is in good health....
Looking forward to Citricos, my fav for dinner.
Danielle

Guilty! I'm such a slacker that I haven't even started my TRs yet, although I keep meaning too . Seriously, I really plan to do a TR for my April trip. We'll see how I do.
Great day at DHS. Love you in your ToT ears in front of your tower! I haven't see the BatB show either, but I might not get miffed at the omissions as I haven't seen the movie either . Can't believe that I'm admitting that here.
And finally, not only do I now have the urge to try chestnuts, I'm thinking that I should finally try Beverly too. What are you doing to me, Sha?
Glad you got to ride your favorite TOT Sharon I feel the same way about RNRC. It's a bit too shaky for me to ride two times in a row. It was fun running into you all again at Guest Services in DHS! I hope I get the chance to meet up with you all in the future!

Bummer Eileen wasn't feeling well- I have had vacations where I've been sick and it totally stinks!! Glad you're finally feeling better Eileen!
Sounds like you had a great day at DHS, can't wait to hear more!
Thanks for reading along and making such great comments! Y'all are just the best!

Anyway, poor Eileen seemd to be out for the count after ST. Good to hear you were able to ride ToT a few times this day, and I can't wait to hear all about Citricos. That's one of the restaurants I've never dined at before.
As someone who writes a lot of trip reports and knows how much work they really are, Cheryl is simply amazing to me! How she manages to post an update every day is remarkable! I can barely get on the boards to READ every day! Indeed, we are not worthy!

And he's so important to the story! It makes me mad to think they just leave him out altogether to keep the cast size down.

I did get it at Mickey's of Glendale! And if memory serves, it was only $12. I got a bunch of t-shirts because they were so cheap!

And it wasn't that Star Wars made me sick (though, at first, I thought it was why I was feeling off), but more that I was actually coming down with something. With each day, I felt worse and worse, and wasn't able to have as much fun as the rest of you. To top it off, not only did I come home sick, but I STAYED sick. I'm only just now feeling back to "normal."
Or I was still just mad at you for going on TOT without Karen and me.
Dude! There was like ONE trip report where I was slow and finally tapered off to nothing. But all of the others were finished and in a somewhat timely fashion. I'm not *Karen*...
As long as someone is more of a slacker than you are, it's okay?

I am soooo looking forward to how well you ladies dine fancy with your tree hats. Which I adore btw!!!
I won't mention a thing anymore to anyone about slacking on updates
You can't get FPs for BATB. We were getting TOT FPs.

Really, Cheryl, I am in awe of you! When I write my TR and then don't even find time to post it for days at a time, I think to myself, "how does Chez do it?" You deserve a big hand! And a cookie.

So we're clear here, NOT doing something because you know how much work it takes also makes you a slacker.
All kidding aside folks, I love that people enjoy my TRs and look forward to updates, but if I don't post for a few days, it's because I'm busy! I'll be back. I ALWAYS come back!

That's a good enough reason to plan another trip! And you'll have to wait to hear about how fabulous our Citricos meal was. Oops! Spoiler!

You definitely should try Beverly. It's a rite of passage. Nobody's ever died from it, so it's not that bad. Some people even like it. Some crazy people. Just kidding, Heather!
