As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We all have our moments where even the smallest things lead to a mental melt down. I've been there, many times, but we're human, and you have a lot on your plate right now. Just keep that go with the flow mentality for when you actually get to The World, and you'll be fine.
I'm working on the go with the flow mentality. Hopefully I'll be able to master it, but I'm not banking on it. I'm definitely going to try. At least I'll be able to leave my work and household stuff behind when I leave.

I would be ticked off about the luggage too. When you return it, I would specifically point out that you asked about 62 linear inches and that the salesman (call him by name if you know it) gave you information that is just flat out wrong and now you've been inconvenienced by having to drive all the way back, taking more time from your busy schedule, because of their mistake.
Two weeks and five days -- hang in there!!!
The luggage really makes me angry. It's been a few days and I'm still ticked. This was a luggage store. It's their job to know this stuff. It's not like I was buying at Target or something. I wouldn't expect Target to give me the correct information, but if all you sell is luggage I expect a little more knowledge. I'm not going to stress about it. We'll be returning it and likely won't buy from that store again. I still shouldn't have melted down, but oh well it's over and we're close to the trip. It will all work out.

You've been reading my TR right and my meltdown? So yes, we've all been there. It's just how we deal and you have to get it out.
Your trip will be here soon and then you can relax!
So the more kids you have the less you get to pee alone? We might have to rethink #2. What irritates me the most is that DS can be playing fine with his daddy (who he does adores) and then I'll leave the room to do the dishes, laundry, etc. and he just looses it. Yelling for me and not wanting to play with DH. I think it bothers DH too. It's been worse recently so I'm thinking it's maybe a phase. At least I'm hoping. And I did read about your meltdown. It happens to the best of us. We recover from them and probably have a better time after letting it all out. Of course I'm sure DH would like to skip the meltdowns.

DH said he will handle returning the suitcase. Of course he was supposed to bring it with him this morning and take it back after work. I found it in the office this morning so that isn't happening. Hopefully tomorrow. So that's one thing I don't have to worry about. I'm feeling like I have a better handle on things now.

Yes, the more kids you have = less alone time, even to use the restroom.
I'm sure it's just a phase. I will say the older kids does help with occupying the little one, at least mine do that.
Sorry about your meltdown! Sometimes stress gets the best of us.
Everything has worked out. I'm going to say no more stress and hope it works!

The last part is great. The first part not so much.
Well we're under two weeks! Yesterday DS and I went out and finished our pre-trip shopping. DH had returned the stupid luggage on Wed. and I picked up something that would work yesterday. So I think we have everything we need for the trip. It's getting so real now.
On Friday I ended up working until 7:30 PM, but it was our major release that has been causing me to work a TON of overtime so I'm hoping that things are quieter at work these next few weeks. There could be some backlash from this release. We think the software works, but there will likely be some issues that crop up. Hopefully they won't interfere with my pre-trip giddiness.
It's crazy to think that next weekend we're going to pack for our trip! And soon it will be close enough to the trip that I can start weather stalking.

It's getting so close now! Glad you got the pre-trip shopping done!
Thanks. I'm glad I got the shopping done too. I don't really like shopping when there are things I have to get. Now shopping just to shop I really enjoy.

Glad all your shopping is done and the big work project is (mostly) over! You're so close!
Tomorrow the "weather stalking" can begin! Although if I'm honest I started last week just to see what is like there this week hoping we'll have something similar.

To quote everyone's favorite mouse "Oh Boy!" I can't even believe we are finally this close to our trip. Seems like I started planning FOREVER ago. I really thought this trip was never going to get here. And now it's creeping up on me so fast I can't even believe it. Funny how that works. Last night we got the memory cards and spare battery we ordered online for our new camera. So I believe we now have everything we need for our trip in the house. Finding all of it, well that may take some time.
Work has been quiet so far this week which has been nice. I've even had a little time to play with my son in the evenings after we get home. They changed DH's work schedule starting this week so he now closes on Wednesday nights and has Thursdays off. It's been throwing me off as we've had to change the day of the week we go grocery shopping and days that DS goes to daycare (well grandma's house, but same concept). It's not that big of a deal, but it has changed when I'll be able to get things done for the trip in the next few days. DH has this weekend off though so most of our packing and such we will accomplish this weekend. Then next week at work is sure to be busy for me as Legislative Session starts on Tuesday and it's always crazy the first week or so of session. Especially when they're trying to get a bill passed to build a new sports stadium for a football team that pretty much sucks. Whoops, did I just say that? Hope DH doesn't read this.
I'm still trying to decide if I want to do online check-in or not. Technically I can today, but I don't know if it's really going to get me that much or not. DH didn't have any trouble checking in when we went in 2009. The lines were short and the process was quick. Although I think that my definition of quick has changed since DS was born. If it took 5 minutes back when it was just DH and I then I'm sure I considered that quick, but 5 minutes doing something that a toddler has zero interest in doing seems like an eternity. An eternity with squirming, whining and sometimes arm flailing. So maybe it would be beneficial to do online check-in. I've got time to decide...
