A Disney Trip 10 Years in the Making. PTR 10/14 - 23/2011 - Page 14 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I’m sitting here at work and I’m totally blocked. I just can’t seem to figure out this problem I’m working on so I’d thought I’d take a break for a moment or two and clear my head. Thinking about Disney is always the best distraction.
I’m also hitting that part in the planning stages where everything is pretty well set and the excitement is over and we are just waiting (and waiting and waiting). Still too early to pack or get excited about the trip. I did make a shopping list of things I know I’ll need so every time I go to the store I can pick up a few things and not have it hit me all at once. Last week I bought a new battery for my camera, exciting I know but I needed an extra one. Next on the list are some discs for my camcorder.
I did get to take a “test run” for Disney this weekend. We went to Ocean City, NJ for Mother’s Day to walk along the boardwalk. I did NOT bring a stroller. Evan did fine and so did I. I like to use the stroller as a pack mule but not this time. I was also able to test out the new bag I bought to see if I like it. I was able to carry a bottle of water, change of clothes for Evan, tissues, napkins, wipes, a snack or two, my camera, wallet and a set of plastic silverware, oh yea and Evan’s ice cream cone holder and it all fit nicely and the bag wasn’t heavy. I’m learning to not lug around so much stuff all the time.
To try and keep my excitement level up I’ve been reading everyone’s TR and that helps pass the time until I’m back to my happy place.
I finally watched Toy Story 3 this weekend so that is checked off my list as well.
OK on with the to do/wish list…EPCOT style
Evan
He doesn’t know too much about this park so I need to bring him up to speed.
Turtle Talk with Crush
Nemo
Dinosaurs (I hope he isn’t scared)
Figment or as we call it Fig-A-mint
Test Track (I think he is tall enough)
Me
Soarin’
Kim Possible – new this trip
Turtle Talk with Crush – new this trip
Spaceship Earth (I haven’t seen it since it was renovated)
The LivingSeas with Nemo and Friends (It was being renovated last time I was there so looking forward to seeing the new version)
Test Track
Pastries from France
Alright now this was a pleasant diversion – now back to work.
I think you and Evan will both like Kim Possible. Do yourself a favor though and if you don't enjoy it after the first mission give yourself a break from it and try again in a different country. (We did Germany first and it was bleh. Morgan LOVED China and Japan and I loved Norway.) So don't count it out after 1 mission. Looking back on it, I'm so glad we decided to give it another go!
I think the height requirement for Test Track is 40", so I'm assuming Evan will be tall enough as Dylan should be tall enough to ride it in September. (We measure him like once a week. )

I hope so. Evan is a little pip squeak. He has been at the 40 inch mark for what seems like - forever. He is 4 1/2 and his 4T clothes are still a tad big.
Your plans look great! Hopefully the heights all work out! I just wanted to let you know that Dinosaur is at Animal Kingdom, the ride that has Dinosaurs in it at Epcot is Ellen's Energy Adventure! (Which I personally find a little long and a little boring, but if you have a Dino fan they will enjoy the ride through. I still find Dinosaur at AK a little scary!)
TS 3 is great, isn't it?? Aren't you glad you got that in before your trip? Your Epcot list looks great and the Kim POssible mission should be a big hit. They were soo much fun! Great Epcot list.

Thanks - I know that but that what's Evan calls it as he has no idea what energy is. I'm more concerened with the noise than the actual dinosaurs. I think the rest of the ride will be way over his head so I'm not sure if we will even do this one and I don't think he is tall enough for Dinosaur in AK so I'll have to find something. hmmmm.

Dylan is 3 1/2 - last week I put a pair of 24 month shorts on him - still kept falling down! Lukas is like the complete opposite. At 8 months he can wear 12 month clothes. He's catching up to his big brother quickly!
I just read through your whole PTR. I'm really enjoying it! You have quite the crew coming along with you on this trip! I'm kind of excited that you're staying at Shades of Green. I'm curious to hear about it, and hopefully see some pictures! (I know, I'm so subtle with my hints!) You got SUCH a great deal on the hotel! Anyway, can't wait to read more!

I will be taking photos of the hotel - I'm excited to try it too.
