The Great Disney Do-Over—PTR for Aug 2010 - UPDATED 8/2 - Page 14 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We BC and that short walk to Epcot is so wonderful. We always took the boat to and from DHS as it is so hot to walk in June as it is and Stefanie's legs would be worn out before we got to the park. Hope you love it, too, and it works well for your family. The bus rides to MK and AK didn't seem very long either. Congrats on getting your finances in order! We have finally done that and it is one of the best feelings.
Sounds like the perfect choice of a resort, BC is a dream of mine and I love the idea of walking to Epcot and DHS or just taking the boat, strolling around the Boardwalk and SAB is definitely a real pull
Your plans sound great! I have never been to Japan for a meal, but I have done a few that you do have planned and I love them!! Sci Fi is my favorite on your list. Some people are put off by the fact that it serves basic hamburgers and sandwiches, but they are awesome and the atmosphere is cool.
I have been to Le Cellier and Coral Reef as well, though not CR since 2005. It was pretty good, and definatley something I think everyone should do once. For Le Cellier I wanted to go back this trip JUST to have the tomato stack and cheddar cheese soup, but mostly the tomato stack, I have been thinking and raving about it since I had one the last trip 9/09. I highly recommend it!
I am glad to hear Sci Fi was your favorite! It is one of the tops on our want to try list. The atmosphere sounds really neat, and it seems like a good mid-week break. I read a review here that clinched it for me: "My kids were never as quiet as Disney as during that meal." Sounds great to me!

HAHAHAHAHA!!! That is too funny! But very true! Just wanted to add that I can't remember if you are on a dining plan or not. But if you are, at Sci Fi you can choose to get a milkshake on the plan in leiu of a desert. I just found this out recently and I am very excited for it!
Also, the onion rings and spinach & artichoke dip are amazing!! If your into those things.

We will be on the DDP, so thanks for the tip about the milkshake! (poor poor dairy allergy DD!). Spinach/artichoke dip is one of my favorite things ever! YUM!
I guess I did not realize how little I mentioned about our resort (CSR). That probably has to do with the total time we spent there. We liked it just fine, but it was our only experience with Disney resorts. It was beautiful. The pool area was amazing! The kids especially loved the sandbox area. We would not be able to go there again, however, because their rooms only allow for 4 (last trip our littlest was under 3 so did not count in the total). So if we were to do a moderate, we would be stuck with POR (and double beds).
Looks like your plans are definitely falling in place. Your ADR's look good. I look forward to hearing more. I'm going to check your thread out on what individuals gave you feedback on regarding the budget. Thanks for sharing with us.

Great ADR choices We have had wonderful meals at many. We travel with allergies also and while we have had great help at all of them. We love the Sci-Fi and I think the kids will have a ball.
As I start posting our daily plans, I would love any feedback!
Day 1:
· Arrive MCO at 1:10 pm
· Take DME to BC to check in
· Leave our checked bags with concierge
· Take boat to DHS (We should have about 3 hours at DHS before it closes)
· Note: we will try to do this without a stroller for our DD (3.5). We have a small sit and stand, but think it will be too bulky to move through the park and the speed we will need this day. She is a great walked with good stamina, and hope she can manage for this short amount of time.
· TSMM!
· Return to BC for 7:15 dinner ADR at Cape May Clam Bake
*Questions/feedback wanted: What to do about food for lunch? Thoughts on not getting to our room until after dinner…
First of all, I would like to apologize, Shell-Y!!! I spelled your name wrong!

OMG!!! I hadn't even thought of that. That must be so hard for her. I LOVE the spinach & artichoke dip!

I haven't been to any restaurants at DHS except Sci Fi. DHS is our least fav park so we usually do half a day and only need one meal. Actually I might skip DHS if it werent for SciFi! LOL
I don't know how good it is, I guess no worse than any other QS place, but Pizza Planet is a place your kids might enjoy, if they like Toy Story. I have heard that it is set up like the Pizza Planet in the movie and there are arcade games and such. I did pop in last trip to use the bathroom, and it looked pretty cool.
I don't see a problem with not getting to your room until after dinner. I would want to make the most of my day as well!
It's getting closer for you, I am so pysched!!!
