Rides, Rainclouds and mishaps....Disney Style - Page 14 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad you got your glasses back Darlene and that you did not even have to call but they called you...at least someone was on their toes that morning. What a wonderful day at MK - sorry that you had to hear about your traveling plans being changed but it sounded that even with the last minute change in plans you all had a great evening to end the trip...

Great last day despite some of the hang ups!
Glad you got your glasses back and you got the vip seats for the parade!
Sorry about the Auto Train, hope you still had a smooth ride home!

I'm really glad to hear you got those RX sunglasses back! They deserve a big thank you. I am sure they are used to people losing their sunglasses and not being able to describe them. It's very good you had the numbers that could identify them.
Looks like a great last day and din-din with the 'Steps'!
Glad to hear you got your glasses back! Even though it was your last day, my goodness you did pack a lot in. I was so sad reading about the evening though with the Auto Train and Abby not wanting to leave the park.
Thanks. I was sad too for Abby because the vacation was over but she accepted it so I didn't dwell on it. We have lots of pictures and videos so we can go back whenever she wants to.

Thanks. I was surprised I got a call considering the girl at Epcot told me they don't do that. And had they called me because of Lenny's messages that he left, they would have called the room because that's the phone number Lenny left, not my cell number (although my cell number was on the claim card.)
It was a good day and I think the reason why Amtrak cancelling didn't ruin it (it just cut it short) is because we weren't stuck anywhere - we could go when we wanted (not that we wanted to leave Disney, we had to.) We had our own van with us so we still had a way to get home - and if we timed it correctly, we could still be home on Thursday (they day we had planned on arriving home.) We didn't have to wait and worry about when the train would run again or when there would be room for us or where we would even stay during that time. I certainly feel bad for the people that do have those things to worry about because of cancelled flights.

It was a good day. When I got the call about my glasses, I should have known other things would go smoothly that day but the sour mood I woke up with took a while to dissipate. The VIP seats were cool and wherever Lenny went online when we got home, he learned that the VIP seats for the parades are actually a dream giveaway. Crystal might not have been part of the Dream Squad, but I like to think we were dream receipients.
The ride home is another story for my next installment.

I haven't done it yet (and I don't know why - probably because I keep forgetting to. ) but I had thought to send Disney an email regarding my glasses. Maybe I'll do it today since it's a good rainy day to stay home. And before you think I'm totally anal (I know some of my posts about my planning make me sound that way), no I don't carry around those numbers in my purse (well, not in the way you might think.) I had them because they are the same exact frames as my clear lens glasses and I always have both pairs with me. The numbers were imprinted enough on the temple that they've never worn off.
Din-din (not too many people acutally say this I've found, but I do) was great. I'm so glad I took a chance and tried this meal again. Not only was it fun seeing the 'steps' at our table, they were fun to watch and listen to from other tables. I really did leave the meal smiling.

Sorry to hear about the auto train and the major change to your traveling plans. Hope the trip home was without difficulties and delays.
You sure did pack a lot in on your last day.
It really could have been worse. The hurricane could have hit sooner, we could have flown and maybe ended up with a cancelled flight (sorry to those that it did happen to). At least with the van, we didn't need to stay in one place for any length of time if we didn't want to.
As for packing in alot, it seemed like a slow day to me after lunch where we did either a lot of sitting and waiting or wondering around deciding what to do.

What a wonderful final day!! Glad they found your glasses. I totally these photos from 1900 PF. I think they're the most animated I've seen Abby yet!!
How nice that you were invited to sit in the VIP area to view the parade. Hope you're able to get up with your wakeup call. More please
Yes, I think it was. Maybe because it was dinner and she was fully awake. Maybe because I told her the sisters weren't mean here to Cinderella - that they were silly and that she could be silly with them. Anastasia actually told Abby how to pose, but when Drizella came over, all on her own, Abby did the mirror image pose. The VIP section was good but I think what made it more enjoyable, for me at least, was that Crystal was thoughful enough to approach us and ask if we wanted to sit there, we didn't ask her.
As for more, you'll have to wait until tonight.

Getting caught up...
I am so glad that you got your glasses back. And your last day was wonderful - Clarabelle and Horace were a real coup! Bummer about the Auto Train, though. Can't wait to read more!
Glad you got your glasses back and how cute that Abby got to be a guest skipper on the Jungle Cruise, I will have to remember that for when we go. I am so sorry that your trip home got completely changed though due to Fay. You really have such wonderful attitude about things though.
I forgot to say that I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner at 1900 Park Faire, it's one of our favorite places and also what a great photo of Abby with the step-sister!!
What a wonderful last day (except for the train issue). I am really impressed with how much you do in Fantasyland without going insane! I don't think there's anyway I could convince DH to go on IASW that many times in one trip. Usually two times on each ride, each trip, is his limit. It sounds like you had a great trip. I'm curious about the ride home though. More soon please!
