As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Three strikes & you\'re out trip! 6/6-6/11/06 Updated 7/7 Day 4, part 2!
[ QUOTE ]
I have just spent most of my Friday night reading your entire report. Thanks for going to all of this effort - it is fun to read. And its tough to be a "planner" (aka Disney Freak) with people who are not. You want to get value for your money!
[/ QUOTE ]
I think I would've been more forgiving if they HADN'T been Disney fans, but these are DVC owners for crying out loud and they'd been going to Disney for years! So it just threw me for a loop!
[ QUOTE ]
They should build another sit down resteraunt at AK!
[/ QUOTE ]
Your wish will be granted soon! AK will be opening a sit down restaurant in Asia, sometime next year I believe!
I'm glad everyone is enjoying this report and is seeing the positives, too!
We did get alot accomplished at Epcot and MK.Although it might not have been my ideal touring plan.
I have to cut Joey some slack because, as I hear from my family ALL the time, he gets it from his MOTHER!!! :

Re: Three strikes & you\'re out trip! 6/6-6/11/06 Updated 7/10 Day 5!
Saturday June 10th- Day 5, part 1- Strike Three!
I woke up at 9:15 a.m for some reason. I was about to try and get back to sleep, but then I thought “Mmmm, Mickey Waffles!” I got up, made my hair look at least halfway decent and headed to the FC in my PJs.
I ordered 1 Mickey Waffle, with bacon! Piglet. I filled my mug with some hot chocolate, too bad they don’t do refills of OJ or milk, which would’ve hit the spot. back into the room, so I wouldn’t wake Mr. Crankypants and enjoyed my breakfast in bed. Didn’t like the syrup though.
My belly full now, I got drowsy and fell asleep again.
At noon, we were both awakened by my cell phone ringing, or actually singing “Got to be Real” (70s dance song) !
It was Dusty letting us know that they changed their minds about going to a water park today. I asked her to put her mom on to ask why. Heidi proceeded to give me, what I feel were the most selfish and inconsiderate reasons for not going.
1)Troy doesn’t want to be in the sun all day and get sunburned (there is such a thing as sunscreen, shade and wearing a shirt! )
2)It’s too expensive (Again with this reason!) it gets better,
3)Since they’ll be spending 4 days at the beach they didn’t want to go to a water park today.
My jaw dropped! Joey and I weren’t going to be spending 4 days at the beach, infact this was Joey’s only “vacation” this year! Not to mention the fact that this was one of the original things we planned over a year ago AND you are telling me the DAY OF that you no longer want to go! STRIKE 3!!!
Instead they want to go to the Mall! (Do you not spend money at a mall? Didn’t you tell me Troy hates shopping!?!) I told her, WE are not going to a mall on our vacation! I didn’t come down to Florida to go to a mall, I can do that at home. At this point my voice started cracking, so I told them I’d give them a call later on about our plans for the evening.
When I hung up, I just blew it. I screamed that I'd never be coming to Disney with them again! At least Joey understood why I was so mad and stated that he didn’t want to be in a mall either. He wouldn’t go to any of the Disney parks, but asked if we could go to Universal. I sadly said . It was already afternoon and I’d need to get transportation over there (money I didn’t figure on spending on this budget trip). It wouldn’t be worth the trip, especially when they close at 8p.m.
In the meantime, we noticed that FOX was going to broadcast the Yankees game at 1p.m, so we decided to stay in and watch the game and decide afterwards what we’d do.
I went to the FC to get Joey’s usual and I grabbed a cup of veggies with dip and a cheese and fruit plate and for good measure a rice krispie treat, for me. Again we ate in the room. I kept dozing off while the game was on. The Yanks ended up losing. Then as Joey took his shower I started packing our bags, so I’d have less to take care of the next day.
We left the room at 6:15p.m, with hopes of catching a movie in DTD. As we waited and waited for a bus, it started to . While waiting I caught up with my trip notes. One bus came but was packed with people and would not let anyone board. It looked like they were all coming back to the resorts from Typhoon Lagoon and would be getting off at Riverside, where the bus would empty out, but still was a no go. As it closed in on an hour and no other DTD bus, I decided we’d take a cab. As luck would have it, one pulled up to the front of the resort as we got there. I asked the driver if he was here to pick someone up and he said no that he was available. He asked for me to give him just one minute and he went inside. I think he might’ve needed to use the facilities.
He returned quickly and within 10 minutes was dropping us off near Planet Hollywood. The fare came out to $7.25 and I gave him a $10; it was well worth the money!
We made our way to the AMC Theater, but Joey didn’t feel like seeing any of the movies listed that he had not already seen at home, so now what.
We walked over to the Marketplace. Smelling those warm Wetzel’s , Joey agreed to stop and have some. We sat down, right there at the Dock Stage. There was a CM demonstrating, with audience participation, different dances from the decades. It was fun to see people doing the 60’s “twist”, the 70’s “bump”& Travolta moves, the 80’s “cabbage patch” and “running man” and the 90’s Back street Boys moves. I left Joey watching the show while I made a quick stop at Ghirardelli’s for my favorite chocolate toffee almonds. Then I went back for Joey, so that he would accompany me into WOD.
BE CAREFUL. HE SPITS!
The other day at the AK, Joey had seen a baseball jersey with the Nightmare Before Xmas characters on it. It was $48 dollars, so I asked that he wait until we got to WOD, so that I could get my AP discount applied to it.
When I asked Joey to keep an eye out for the jersey, he now stated that he didn’t want it anymore. I asked why and he just shrugged his shoulders. I pointed out different t-shirts that I thought he might like. Ones with obnoxious remarks on them! But he didn’t want anything. He did ask if he could get a ring for Briana, his “girlfriend”, who was celebrating a birthday the following week. I told him to call her and ask what ring size she was and we’d return for one later.
Considering this was a budget trip, I wasn’t going buck wild (as is my usual shopping pattern), but I’d come out ahead in the food budget, so I was able to buy a few things.
Next I offered Joey as much candy as he’d like, because he hadn’t asked for anything really during this trip. We headed to his Mecca, err…Goofy’s Candy Co and proceeded to buy $32 worth of candy!!! Joey was on , as I kept letting him fill the bags up even more.
At some point during our shopping, Joey asked if we’d be getting together with the Havens’, so I called them up to see what their plans were. They were planning on going to PI again, so I told them the times of the Comedy shows, just in case they wanted to join us there.
Finally it was approaching the time of the next Comedy Warehouse show, so we headed back to PI. We lined up for the 9:05pm show, but didn’t see the girls.
HIDDEN MICKEY
The show was another good one, especially since they used one of my embarrassing moments to sing about. They had asked for stories from the audience and Joey suggested I tell them about the time I went into Mickey D’s to get some take out and when I came out proceeded to get into the wrong car! It seems my sister had pulled her jeep up a bit to let a minivan park. I didn’t even look at the car; I just opened the back door and saw a man in the driver’s seat and his daughter in the back seat with the strangest looks on their faces. I apologized profusely and looked around for my sister’s car. They were cracking up having seen the entire scene!
The Cast had a good laugh with that one and I videotaped the entire song.
When we left I noticed the Havens waiting. It turns out they did get into the show at the last minute. They agreed to catch another CWH show before going to the clubs, so we lined up again.
After the show, I told Heidi we were going to try and go to a park the next day, if only for a few hours. I wanted her to feel they no longer were going to dictate what we’d be doing. A little late, on our last day, but I wanted to stick it to her. She said that the girls would be by the pool all day as she wanted to do some before they headed to Hilton Head on Monday. We made plans to catch up one last time in the afternoon to say goodbye and so I could pick up the Splash picture we’d taken the previous night.
In the meantime Joey had gotten a from Briana, so we went back to WOD and got a very pretty ring for her. We made it in a nick of time too as it was close to 11:30 closing time.
We walked to the bus stop where there was a waiting PO bus. We were in bed by 12:30am.
Up Next- Sunday June 11th, Day 6 – Our final day!

Angie -
I can't believe they did that again! I don't blame you for losing it . . . a your behavior for both not doing it sooner, and not let it completely ruin your trip. I'm glad you're doing what you want on your last day!

Well that just stinks that they did that to you AGAIN! I'd certainly think twice before I planned a trip with them again. So bummed that your trip is coming to an end!

Sorry you missed out on TL as I was looking forward to a review of it since it has been over ten years since I was there last. (However, taking Kiara to a water park is probably a can of worms I DON'T want to open! )
I have to hand it to you. After that, I don't think I could even look at them, let alone be nice and spend some time together that evening. Glad you and Joey made the best of your day anyway.
