As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Wow! The arcades are a nice way to get from one end of Main Street to the other without having to dodge folks in the gift shops.
I love the photo of the castle on the hilltop! Again, so very scenic!
The skies were looking ominous for a bit there! The park is so pretty, I really love seeing all the photos from everywhere within! Barb and her poncho! That's funny.
Those arcades are brilliant.

Saturday 30 April – part thirteen: where is our room?
When we got out of the park, we bid our farewells to the others, as we were going to head back to our hotel to get our room details.
When we got to reception, we were given our room number, and were pretty gutted to discover it was on the other wing of the building. The way the Disneyland Hotel works is there’s one wing above the reception area, close to the car park, then there’s a walkway between the two wings, where you find the shop, the restaurants and the bar, and the other wing has the swimming pool and spa area. That’s where we were… and by the looks of the map, in one of the furthest out rooms. Ugh!
The guy explained how to get there in French, which was a bit odd, given he knew we were English, but never mind… whatever, I just about understood what he was trying to tell us.
We trudged over to the car to go and get our other bits and pieces. Earlier, when Mark brought his parents back, he had put the suitcase into luggage services, but we’d kept the rest in the car. The last time we were here in November 2014, I’d had problems with my tear ducts (I finally got the operation to fix them a few weeks ago ) and I had to come back every four hours to get them from the fridge. Well, the last day, the weather was awful, so we decided to sit in the bar and chill, and I went down to luggage storage to get the laptop from out of my hand luggage bag, and let’s just say I wasn’t overly impressed with what I found down there, so we’d decided to keep the valuable stuff in the car until we had our room, then we’d take it directly over there.
We brought our stuff back, and of course had to pass it through the metal detector, then got wanded again as we walked back into the reception. We then went to baggage services to ask for our case to be taken to our room, only to be told it was already there. Well, that’s a big improvement. If only Walt Disney World could do that, but of course they won’t, as then they’d miss out on gratuities.
We headed off to the other wing, and misunderstood the details of our room. We thought it was on the third floor, so we set off that way, with all our stuff, walking all the way over to the end room, only to discover our key didn’t work. Ok, so I guess we’re on another floor then…
We headed back to the elevator, and found out we were in fact on the first floor. D’oh! If only we’d looked at the numbering of the rooms in the lift, we’d have known that.
Oh well, we got there in the end, but we were distinctly exhausted when we did. We pretty much collapsed into the room, although we waited a bit, so I could get a couple of photos of it:
I was half hoping that, given the trek we’d had to get there, there might be a nice view outside, but sadly
However, my spirits were at least raised by the sight of this!
We spent a little while in the room, and headed out just before 5:30pm, as our Buffalo Bill Wild West Show was at 6:30pm, and they suggested you turn up an hour beforehand, so we did as we were told to…
As you can see, it was still pretty miserable out…
… and talking of miserable, here’s my friend!
This was on the hoardings where some of the work is taking place. Nearby was his friend Piglet, and I think you can imagine Mark couldn’t let that go, so I’m afraid to report Piglet got very cruelly kicked by a certain person – and no it wasn’t me!
That's a lot of walking on top of a day of walking in the park! Exhausted indeed. The room does look very nice, if not a little small? Maybe it just appears that way in the photos, I don't know. Bummer the view is a little lackluster.
The Eeyore is funny! Love that donkey.

Don't you sometimes wonder who gets the close convenient rooms? I feel as though both our own experiences, and so many here on PP mention rooms at the farthest end of the corridor.
