The "I-can't-think-of-a-cool-catchy-title-for-this-PTR" PTR - Page 14 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just catching up, Dawn! So busy around here too... only 4 more days... holy cow! Great plans so far. 50's Prime Time is a place we've never been, so I'll be eager to hear how you like it. You also reminded me about the Photopass pre-purchase... still have to check that off the list! Anxious to hear what else you have in store. And I'll also be sure to PM you with my cell number. Not sure our plans are in synch so far, but I'm really hoping we can squeeze in a quick meet this time around!
Oh... and can you believe this snow??? So crazy!!! Our schools are open, but lots of fallen trees and power outages around town. I'm so glad the storm came last weekend and not this coming one. Could you imagine if our flights were delayed due to SNOW???
That's something the boys will remember for a long time -- a snow day on Halloween! Great DHS plans, too! I can't believe how close you all are to being in the bubble.
So it took me forever but i'm finally caught up on here!!! WOW i've missed so much by being busy But, I'm caught up and now WOW four days???? really??? I"m so flipping excited for you! I'm texting you ASAP tomorrow to say OMG youre going to disney!!! LOL So exciting! I cannot believe that about those flights!! what a friggin nightmare! wow! and snow???? really??? how crazy is that to have snow around Halloween!!!??? we couldnt believe it!!! wow I love the south LOL You are so close now!!! love the plans especially Jiko!!!
This snow is crazy! I'm just glad it came this weekend instead of holding off for flying out on Friday. Never thought I'd have to worry about snow problems for a trip at this time of year. You really checked a lot off the list!
Thank goodness the snow was this weekend. I'm stressing myself out enough over this trip, I don't want to worry about snow.

I'm really excited to read your TR - you guys have some great things going on during your trip! And if Jason gets antsy during the Behind the Seeds tour, text me, and I'll just continually text him photos of Meri doing random silly things or whatever. That'll keep him amused, if nothing else. LOL! Seriously, though, I can't wait for your review so I can see how he does. If he can do it, I'll attempt it with Meri, because mom would LOVE it!
Can't believe you have a snow day on Halloween AND that you're leaving in just a few short days!!!
I'm hoping to get Jason on ToT this trip as well. He says yes, but that is one that I'm not sure he won't want to skip out the chicken exit when it comes down to it. I'll strap him into Splash cause I know he'll like it, but I won't force him onto ToT...maybe.

Great work checking things off the list - but it's a good thing, cause you're leaving in four days!

Oooh, I forgot about the smores. I've never had them, but I've seen plenty of PP pics that now I want them too.

Definitely PM me and hopefully we'll cross paths at some point. Are you going to check out Osborne lights at all? I said to Craig...thank goodness the snow was this weekend. No, I don't think it ever crossed my mind that snow could be a problem this time of year.

Yay, you've caught up!! I guess I can forgive you for being busy. I mean you are planning a wedding. The flights were a nightmare, but at least we did get something out of it. Not sure how I'll feel about it when DME is picking us up at 4:30am! All I can think of is Jiko flatbread!! And I think the boys will really like the resort.
Today we head back to AK. Of course we’ll need to visit the Yeti again with Zach this time. And hopefully Jason will be riding with us this year. He’s tall enough now, but not completely sure of the rides. He’s talking a big game and he did get on a lot of rides this summer at the boardwalk that we didn’t think he would so we’re keeping our fingers crossed. We never had to worry about that with Tyler. From the time he was big enough, Tyler would ride anything!
We’ve got lunch at Y&Y today because Zach loves the ribs there. This was his choice of restaurant. Now that I’m looking at the calendar, I can’t figure out why we didn’t make it for closer to park closing…but there must have been a reason when I did it. If we hadn’t seen the parade yet, we’ll stay for that too.
Then we really lucked out. The Osborne lights start tonight and we’re planning on going to DHS from AK to see those. This will be a first for us and we are very excited about that. We might meet up with Jenn (JKnott17) that night if we can find her among the opening night throng. And we’ll be on the lookout for the elusive purple cat. There is a chance we’ll go to DHS on Saturday to see the lights instead because we now have the extra night, but I think a Sunday 7:35am flight might call for an early Saturday night.
Trivia: I'm going to give you a few today because we only have 4 days left and I'm not sure how I fell so behind on the trivia...
- 46 million people visit WDW each year: 17 million visit MK; 10.9 million visit Epcot; 9.6 million visit AK and 9.5 million visit DSH.
- If you wanted to stay in all the guest rooms in all the hotels at Disney, it would take more than 68 years if you stayed in one a night. (I don't know about you, but I'm up for the challenge )
- When Disney's MK opened on October 1, 1971, adult admission cost $3.50. (can you say "inflation").
So...the boys were out of school today and Nana picked them up and then we trick-or-treated around her house...and then came home and trick-or-treated around ours in the dark. It was my boys and all the High School kids at night. But, we were going to get use out of those costumes being as the school parades were cancelled.
Here's my vampire:
And for you Melanie...Legolas from Lord of the Rings:
Orlando Bloom...eat your heart out!
I think they came out pretty good...if I do pat myself on the back.
4 days to go...well techincally now 3 days being as it's after midnight and I'm posting here instead of packing. What's wrong with me??
The Halloween costumes came out great! I thought I'd let you know that our Target has their Disney Christmas T shirts out already, as of Friday. Your plans look great--make sure to take lots of pics of the Osbourne lights because I'm going to miss them this year for the first time in many years! (I'm going to DL)
The costumes came out great! I laughed out loud at your scary little vampire-- not the reaction he was going for, I guess.
I'll probably be at DHS for the first Osborne lights night, too. Not sure, though. I have a late lunch ADR at Brown Derby and don't know if I want to stay that long at DHS.
OMG, the boys look GREAT. Josie just said Jason looks scary AND handsome.......... and those costumes are fabulous, way to go there girl.
The 2 times we have went in Dec we have still yet to see those Osborne lights, tragic I know. So, I need to see lots of pics please!!! After all this talk about ribs, I am kinda craving those right now at 9:30amHope Zach enjoys every bite!!
Sorry you were up so late posting this update.........not sure why you are up at that hour........I thank you
Dawn, those costumes came out great! I wish I could sew, I'd love to have homemade costumes for the girls one year.
Plans for AK sound great, I do hope we get to see you at DHS that night! But, I am hoping it won't be too crowded. And, what is this elusive purple cat you speak of??
