An Animal Kingdom State of Being with Cam and Fam COMPLETED 9/18 - Page 135 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

that P&F shirt, and my daughter will too, when we go in March. Hopefully they'll have it in something other than pink though- she is currently in an anti-girly stage.

We're back from a week at the Jersey Shore and I've had a lot of catching up to do
First of all, thanks again for checking out Cool Wash Pizza for us. It's great to know there's pizza for Jason in Epcot
Love, love the Mickey giraffe t-shirt, and yes, orange is a great color on you. And also Jason's fave color!
Great pictures of the moon with the fireworks!!
I am really interested now to check out the China pavillion closer. My friend from work who travels the world went to China and saw the actual tomb of the terracotta soldiers. Said it was one of the highlights of her trip. Also, she has one of the paper necklaces and I have always thought it was sooo cool! Now that I know they are at Disney, they've just moved to the top of my own "must purchase" list. My list is small, a charm for my bracelet, some kitchen mickey-part stuff, and now a bracelet.

Glad you had a good shopping trip to DTD (and no melt downs ). Love the purchases, great pins and I love the soaps. I have never though to pick those up as gifts but it really is such a great idea.
Sorry about the waits for the buses - our worst wait for a bus was from DTD as well (going to the BW also). Lunch sounded delicious
Love your giraffe pictures, the two kissing....so beautiful.
I first bought the Dr. Spot for my DSis as she has a world of stains with my DNephew. She loved them so much that I pick up several for her each trip. Then I bought them last year for my hair dresser and nail tech. This year my hair dresser mentioned that she was hoping for another bar of Dr. Spot.
The giraffes aren't kissing the smaller one is the baby and it's take the leaves from its mother's mouth. The leaves didn't show up really well in the picture, but it was adorable watching Mom pulls the leaves down, but making the baby stretch to her mouth to get its share.

Stefanie has one of these bars from a much earlier trip. She won't use it because she doesn't want to mess up the Mickey heads in it.

We had never seen one either and Stefanie almost bought one, too, though she doesn't have a living brother.
Love the Stitch pin. And my DD is always asking if she can sell her brothers--I've SO got to get her that shirt!
Great pics of the baby giraffe w/mummy G.
Sounds like a successful day all around--but why did you have to repack all of Stef's stuf? (No answer necessary, I'm just nosy like that)
We were packing Stefanie up because we only had 2 more days before the trip home. Since we go every year, we've discovered that if I start packing us up beginning 3 nights before departure, we are much less stressed. I do my stuff 3 days before leaving, Stefanie's two days before, and Luke's the night before. We wake up the last morning only needing to get ready and then enjoy whatever time we have left in a park.

The Buzz and Woody pics are now a tradition for us. Congrats to you all on 30 years, too!

Great update - sounds like a successful day!!
Stefanie would like one, too, without a reference to a brother. She does have a brother, but he died before she was even born, and rather than sell him, she'd just like to meet him.

And those giraffe pictures were great - especially the ones that look like they're nuzzling each other.
I think I could almost spending a whole day just watching the giraffes from the balcony.

We were surprised by the availability of FP for ST, too. Toy Story is still the big draw for sure.

We all three enjoyed our burgers here. My only complaint is the I should have gotten their homemade kettle chips, too. They were much better than the fries, which were pretty much like fast food fries. If that chocolate was on the menu (I didn't check), I'd definitely order an adult size piece next time as I'm a addicted to chocolate.

I truly enjoyed having a special mission to accomplish for a fellow PPer! I wish I could keep my wish list as short as yours.

I am so envious of how LONG you get to go. Your trips are several days, and I think it makes for some nice, relaxed touring. What is that Dr. Spot soap from Basin? I have never heard of it...

I may have to pick up a soap dish from WDW next time I go down, along with my other items on my shopping list for WDW, like Donald Duck shirts.
I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for Donald shirts, I've never really been able to find any decent Donald merch at the parks, as the best Donald merch I've ever gotten are the Chronological Donald Walt Disney Treasures DVD boxed sets, which I never once saw a Walt Disney Treasures DVD set in the parks.
Donald's thankfully got a presence in the online Disney Store though, and I've had my eye on a Donald watch for awhile that I can customize online and have shipped to me.
Apparently, they DON'T do that at WDW, which surprised me greatly, that'd make for a very wonderful souvenir from your trip IMO.
Anywho, I'm rambling on again for no good reason. Great shopping trip, not-so-good (I would even say "saddlecrap", LOL) bus waits, and surprisingly great trip into Disney's Hollywood Studios (I still wanna refer it to MGM, so if I do on accident please don't hurt me).

You can make-your-own T-shirts (short and long-sleeve) at the Art of Disney (I think that's the name?) shop next to the Christmas shop at Downtown Disney. I don't remember if Donald is a character you can choose, but if he isn't we need to start a protest! You can also personalize the shirts with a message, date, name.
Back at Kidani, we went to the lobby first to pay some of our room charges plus check on the DVC free souvenir ( luck on this as the DVC rep was nowhere to be found and no one knew where he was because he was supposed to be on duty).
Great update. Love the tshirt. I know my DD would love it. I was wondering about the DVC free souvenir. Is this something that is always available? As new DVCers (only one trip so far) this would be great to know. Thanks!
Catching up after Hurricane Irene rudely set me behind on my TR reading for a week!
Love, love, love the giraffe pictures -especially the Mom and baby pics. Adorable!
Glad you got a chance to listen to the VOL. I caught a performance for the first time last summer. Amazing. I hadn't thought to look for a CD either, but now it's on my list.
Great shopping finds -love the recycled paper bead bracelet. That's on the list now too. I love the Mickey soap at Basin, but my favorite is the red. It is "ginger ale" scented which I thought was quite unusual, but it certainly smells great. And you can tell Stefanie that using the soap doesn't "mess up" the Mickey heads. They keep their shape and just shrink. I actually think it's kind of cool myself.
