As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: The AP adventure - THREAD 6 OF 6 - TWO UPDATES 2/24
I am just catching up!! I have been out of the loop since I started working again..
First I gotta say, you saw flipping Launchpad!!! How We have never seen him or Daisy
Second, I your photos inside Stitch. I got in trouble when I took a picture in the preshow (without the flash I might add). Andy was videoing, discreetly and you see on the video him grab my arm and try to pull it down as the CM starts to walk towards me Oh well, we got the actual show on tape (except dummy DH turned the camera off once it got completely dark ) Can't wait for more!

Lunch looked lovely Cheryl, I have never heard of Wahoo either. Your chocolate cherry smoothie looked delicious, did it taste as good as it looks?
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh boy did it! It was delicious and if they have it again when we go back, I will be sampling it again. I can thoroughly recommend it!

Ah well - that's DH for you. I think we've seen Launchpad about three times now. (I confess I don't know who he is, but DH gets excited when he sees him, as he knows he's a rare find! ) As for Daisy, she does seem to be out a lot more these days...
And with the Stitch photos - I think a CM spotted me taking photos in the actual show and gave me a stare, so I put the camera down at that point..

I'm glad I wasn't the only one trying to sneak photos! And Launchpad was on Ducktales and I think he was on Talespin as well. I use to watch those shows everyday after school...along with Darkwing Duck (and I think he was on there from time to time as well).

Re: The AP adventure - THREAD 6 OF 6 - TWO UPDATES 2/24
Thursday 23 December – part three: this was not how I wanted to see MGM!
We walked back to Tomorrowland, as the plan was to see the Timekeeper while it was open, but it was not to be. The countdown outside said 30 seconds until the next show, so we raced inside, only to find that it wasn’t entirely accurate and the show had already started and the doors were firmly shut. To say I was disappointed was an understatement, as I really wanted to see this show, but I wasn’t going to wait another 20 minutes for it.
That was really the only thing remaining that we wanted to see at the Magic Kingdom, so we went to guest services to try and find out if our room was ready. If it was, then we would go back to the Beach Club Villas, otherwise we would go to MGM to get some more characters. Well, our room wasn’t ready, but we only found that out after a little bit of confusion, when the Cast Member thought I said that we were staying at the Caribbean Beach so she rang them first and of course they had no-one by our name staying there.
So MGM it was… we grabbed the monorail over to the Ticket and Transportation Centre and headed for the bus stop and that was where disaster struck. I do not know what happened. I was just walking along, but I felt my ankle twinge (the one I’d sprained in the summer) and then I could barely put any weight on it. Fortunately the bus stop wasn’t too far away and I had a support bandage in the backpack for just such an eventuality, so I sat down and put it on, while Mark stood in the queue for me.
When the bus came, we were one of the first on, so got a seat, which was just as well, as there was no way I could’ve stood for that trip and the bus was packed. In fact, they couldn’t fit everyone on board who was waiting. About six people got left behind in the end.
When we got to MGM, I asked Mark to wait until everyone had got off the bus. I really didn’t want to have to rush anywhere with my ankle at the moment. I managed to get off the bus and through the main gates, but I knew I couldn’t get much further than that, so Mark rented me a wheelchair, so I could get around. We would’ve gone for an ECV, but those things are expensive! I never realised how much they cost - $40 with $10 refundable. I told Mark there was no way that we were spending that much money in getting me around, so he was left with pushing me around!
As soon as we were equipped, we went to see Suzy and Perla. Interestingly Suzy signed for both of them…
Not happy!
From there, Mark pushed me up the main street. I have to say that, at this point, I was really unhappy. I couldn’t believe how today was turning out. I don’t like to be a problem to anyone and here I was, dependent on Mark to push me around. And, before anyone says it, an ECV would have been no better – I wanted to be able to walk and not have my ankle giving out on me. It was not a good afternoon for me.
Our next stop was at the Magic of Disney Animation to meet the Incredibles. I’m impressed that Disney has got them out so quickly and they certainly make an excellent addition to the ranks of Disney characters. We waited about 10 minutes to see them and were lucky enough to get Frozone, Elasticagirl and Mr. Increditble, who was about to go back in.
I took Mark’s photo with them and then Frozone came over to see me and took my hand and kissed it, a lovely touch. He made me feel a lot better by just giving me that extra bit of attention.
On the way out, we saw as much of the attraction as we could, without waiting and actually that’s the vast majority of it. You only really miss the introduction film and the session with the Disney animator and that was showing a half hour wait. We looked at all the concept art for many well known Disney characters and I think, without exception, what they ended up with was much better than the original concept they first had. We also had a look at the characters from the upcoming film Chicken Little and I was amazed to see posters up, already advertising forthcoming Disney animation firms for 2006 (Robinson Industries, I think) and summer 2007 – American Dog. Now that looks good. It’s from the makers of Lilo and Stitch. I can’t believe how far ahead they are already planning with their next features.
We then had a look around the shop and nearly died at the priced. There was a very racy looking Tinkerbell dressed as Santa, which I just had to get a photo of:
After we had finished enquiring about prices and saying “thanks, but no thanks”, we decided to head out of the park. I really wanted to lose the wheelchair and wanted to see if our room was ready yet. Mark pushed me to the exit of the park, but then I told him that I could manage to get to the boat. My ankle was still sore, but I did make it. While walking for the boat, it started to rain a little, the story of the day really.
Next: the candy man strikes again and “how are we going to fit this all in?”

Cheryl, I finally got all caught up with your report (two threads of it!!! ). I was sorry to read about your ankle in this last installment, but it sounds like you had a great time so far! Thanks for the pictures of the food and the restaurants--Tony's looks especially pretty inside! And I also loved the pictures of the Osborne lights, since I hadn't seen them before. Looking forward to reading more!

That ankle!!! Sorry it acted up on you and that Mark had to push you around!!! But it was probably just as well that you gave it just a little rest!!!
How cool that you got to see Frozone too!!! We saw Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible in January, but no Frozone! I also had the same reaction to the prices in that shop . . . but, boy, did I EVER want to buy that store out!!!
Great update and pictures AGAIN!!!

Sorry to hear about your ankle Cheryl I know what you mean about not wanting to rely on people, I'd have been the same if Andy had had to push me around. I hope your day got a lot better
