Southern Fried in Mickey's World Updated 12/31 - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
By the way Cam, as I read it with Flickr, you should be fine. The paid for accounts don't come into effect until 2019 and by then, the boards will sadly be gone. Even then, they'll delete your photos from the oldest backgrounds, so your newest 1,000 will still remain, as I read it anyway.

Nice time in Epcot as you got a few attractions in! Nice PP photos and you always get your moneys worth out of it! Some great sightings on the savanna and glad the obstructions are gone at least they seem to be! I always enjoy LWTH ride as so relaxing and a lot to observe in the greenhouses!
Nope the obstructions remain in place for our entire stay. The only animals that seem to inhabit this area when the workers were around were the birds, like these ostriches.

I didn't think I would take photos in Living with the Land either, but ended up with quite a few. Though, I didn't notice those groupings you got pictures of. I wonder if I just wasn't looking that way or if they added them after we were there.
I love the prints you purchased!
Now I'm wondering, too, as to when the groupings were added in because they were on both sides of the boat. I really like these.
Thanks for posting more of the TR over here. I really enjoy reading about your adventure.
I didn't want to leave you or anyone else before the boards officially shut down.

My plan has always been to post here every time, but silly me though the links would make it easier on me. But if no members can't see it that won't work. So I'll just keep posting here, too. I think there may have been some confusion when I stated, "So here is the last installment for Wednesday, October 10." That was only in reference to that particular day of our trip.
Thanks for the flickr information, Cheryl. I should have read all that myself, but just haven't. So I should be fine until the end of the year. WooHoo!

I am so happy that you finally got to see some animal activity on the Savanna!! Your morning at Epcot sounds wonderful!! Those prints are beautiful!!
The animal activity was meager, but at least it was something. Though this morning was a fluke as we won't see any animals out before we leave the room the rest of the trip.
You road two of my favorite rides at EPCOT. I really enjoy Living with the Land or whatever it's called now, I always wanted to live in that farm house minus the rooster. I like how the displays change in there.
I've been reading your report on whatever I'm on. Face book or here.
1000 pictures doesn't seem like very many.
Liz
Love the Tink print! I always say I’m not taking more pictures on LWTL, but then I can’t seem to help myself!
Thanks! There are several things that I think I couldn't possible need any more photos of and then I take more anyway.

It's still called Living with the Land. I can imagine that house would be neat to live in minus the rooster as you said. 1000 pictures really isn't that many at all. Facebook is nice in that all my photos are already on my computer and I just upload them as I do the report.
From Spaceship Earth, we headed in the direction of the Festival Center. On our way over I could see the massive building being constructed for Guardians of the Galaxy. I didn’t take any photos of it this day, but I will take some later in the trip. I was more interested in the Remy signs for the Food & Wine Festival. Once inside the Festival Center our first mission was to pick up our Annual Passholder F&WF magnets.
Once we had those neatly tucked into my backpack, we browsed the Festival Shop. I think I circled it two or three times before finally deciding on to the AP glasses and the AP F&WF trading pins with Mickey Mouse.
These were all sent back to the resort while we moved on to our first food booth, The Chocolate Experience from the Bean to the Bar by Ghirardelli Chocolate Company. Before getting any food, we checked out all the amazing chocolate displays. This year’s displays included Toy Story Land, Africa, the Headless Horseman, Coco, Polynesian Tiki Room, and a Cheetah (with a wee giraffe in the background). I am thoroughly amazed at the skill of these chocolate crafters.
Then we ordered a Banfi Rosa Regale Sparkling Red and a Ghirardelli Drinking Chocolate. With our treats in hand we found a spot on a wall where we could seat and enjoy them. While sitting there, I noticed the Shimmering Sips Mimosa Bar across the way. Since it was hot outside, we thought it might be wise to enjoy more treats inside. I ordered us an Almond Croissant topped with toasted almonds and a Key Lime Mimosa while Luke found us a table with chairs. WooHoo! A little more relaxing on tap.
Leaving Future World, we entered the World Showcase via the sidewalk around Test Track and the Odyssey into Mexico. No stopping yet in Mexico though as we were nearing our window for our third FastPass, Frozen Ever After. The FP queue moved very quickly and we were soon voyaging around Arendelle, meeting Olaf, Sven, Christoph, and of course, Anna and Elsa.
Norway is my favorite pavilion and being dumped out into one of my favorite gift shops, The Puffins Roost after leaving Arendelle is truly fun for me. In the first room of the shop, I saw the cutest Helly Hansen red jacket.
In the middle portion of the shop, the area with the giant troll, Larry Dotson and his wife had a display of his prints and art. We just quickly shuffled through the prints, but I’d just bought three prints earlier this morning, so we didn’t buy any. Finally, we checked the Geir section where I used some of the Frozen lotion on my hands. At the time I thought I might go back and purchase some of the lotion, but spoiler alert, I didn’t.
Outside the heat and humidity seemed to have increased, so we stopped the Norway Kringala Bakery for a couple of Cokes on ice. Then we backtracked to Mexico to explore until we finished our drinks. We played with the mirror thingy in the Coco display. Unfortunately, I accidentally put a mustache on myself and couldn’t figure out how to remove it. So I’m pretty funny looking as a spirit as you will see.
We wandered the shops and the marketplace, and enjoyed a glass maker in Arribas Brothers. She was fascinating to watch.
As we came out of Arribas Brothers, we noticed the line to Gran Fiesta tour had finally gone down. It was winding around the marketplace when we first entered but was only a little outside the normal queue at this point. We decided to take a boat ride around Mexico, staying a little longer in the air conditioning.
As we exited the ride, a couple of ladies asked if it was worthy doing. We told them absolutely and gave it two thumbs up.
NEXT: The Return of Hurricane Michael and his Rain
A nice time in World Showcase for the festival. Some nice purchases with the festival pins and glasses! Love your eats and bevs as I love the Banfi Rosa Regale and know it's one of your favorites!

Good thinking to stay inside as long as possible! Weren’t those chocolate sculptures amazing? I was disappointed that the cheetah was so hard to photograph because of the glare.
I don’t remember seeing the mirror in the Coco exhibit. This is the second thing you’ve mentioned that I didn’t remember seeing! The first was the displays in Living with the Land. There is just so much to see that I guess you can’t see everything.
So happy you at least saw some animals from your balcony! Love your prints of Mickey and Tink! They're going to look perfect in your house for sure. Loved all the signs in the greenhouses this year. Your PP pictures came out so cute of you both.
