A Magical 10 Night Trip, The 10th Month and The Orlando Trifecta- PTR - UPDATED 10/2 - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your changes are awesome. That's weird that bot BICE and Emeril's is closed to the public. Anojito’s sounds fun and probably something you might not have done so their's always a silver lining!

Great changes to your dining times! I so glad you are doing the Caring for Giants tour, and you enjoy it as much as we did.
I know I'm going to enjoy that tour so much seeing from your photos of it! Just had to do a bit of modifying for the dining to make it work out a bit better with my schedule.

I'm happy with the changes and glad I got BICE as I would not have been happy if I didn't. That is quite weird about the closures with both of those eateries and would like to know what big event is happening to cause this as probably both of these bought out for two nights each, but could be something else! Strange being a Saturday and Columbus Day weekend, so interested what is going on. Perhaps, someone here knows as I got screwed out of an ADR! Looking forward to Anojito's and seems like a fun place, but may be a bit touristy with the entertainment, but should be good. I've read good reviews of Anojito's and menu looks good! You'll find out in the TR.

Looking forward to the AK tour with thanks to Cam in her TR! Very odd with those two USO resort eateries and they're both high end and may mean something. Just wish I knew as both are closed for the same two days and on Friday and Saturday and stranger on a holiday weekend.

Oh that's a real shame about BICE and Emeril's Tchoup - my goodness, that must be a big event taking place at Universal!
I can only imagine what the event may be! I'm disappointed I won't dine at Emeril's Tchoup, but at least I got BICE to look forward to in just over a week!

Just over a week? My goodness, that's come around quickly!

Yes it has and I still have at least two more updates to this thread! Hope I can get these done before my trip.

Receiving Some Amazing and Unexpected Disney Magic!!!
Monday, September 4th Over the past few months Her Dotness and myself have been exchanging a few PMs and commenting on each of our PTRs. This is regarding my inability to obtain an ADR for Victoria & Albert’s restaurant which I just love so much. I know she and her husband His Drewness love it as much as I do as they have dined there several times. My total is at 11! It’s quite a splurge but worth it and what I save my Disney Rewards dollars for!
I just couldn’t believe I couldn’t get an ADR as I tried making one once my 180 day window opened. I couldn’t obtain one for neither the Main Dining Room nor Queen Victoria’s Room! I was quite disappointed with this. I kept trying over the past few months and same result!
I arrive in Orlando on Wednesday, October 4th where I’ll be in Universal Studios through the 7th and then to WDW from the 8th to the 14th. Unfortunately, Dot and Drew depart home on the 7th and didn’t look like we could meet up for a bit, which we were hoping to do.
Tuesday, September 5th Sometime during the morning, I received a text from Dot. It stated that she and Drew were inviting me to join them for dinner at Victoria & Albert’s Queen Victoria’s Room for dinner on Friday, October 6th at 6:30 pm. I didn’t have to think about this at all and just regarding my plans for the day. I of course accepted! This is my SeaWorld day and I may have to shorten my time there a bit, but should have several hours there. I have an ADR for Shark’s Underwater Table and probably will just grab a CS meal for lunch instead with such a big meal for dinner this evening. It will just have to wait for another trip. I will most likely take Lyft from the Royal Pacific to the Grand Floridian and shouldn’t be too costly. A taxi ride would be much more. I will probably return to the Royal Pacific from SeaWorld around 3 pm or so.
This is just an amazing offering on their part and I just couldn’t believe I was receiving some amazing and unexpected Disney Magic in this regard! I was truly stunned by this! It took a few hours to respond to her PM as I couldn’t figure out a way to respond to PMs via Tapatalk! As many of you have said here, Passporters are just the best and in certain ways we’re like family here!
Wednesday, September 6th Next, we worked out the details and I provided my info so I could be included in their ADR and access it through MDE. Drew called V & A’s about this and they could add me to their ADR. The restaurant changed the time from 6:30 pm to 6 pm and probably with the inclusion of myself. I received a PM from Dot with the reservation number, just to be safe. Later in the day, it appeared on MDE and on my section as well as the family and friends section. We were now good to go!
I’m looking forward to this evening to meet Dot and Drew for the first time as well as another incredible culinary adventure at Victoria & Albert’s!
NEXT: Another Change and Getting It All Organized!

I love how this all worked out for you and Dot and Drew! Just perfect PassPorter/Disney magic!
It's just amazing and so excited for this dinner with two great Passporters and how they made it happen for me! I just can't thank them enough for this! Why I love this forum so much for things like this and you just never know!

Dave will likely have read his PM from Drew about the menu hint Drew got when V&A's called to ask about our respective food needs.
I won't spill the beans since this is Dave's PTR, but Drew and I are both excited to see what we'll have to carry out the indicated theme. As much as Dave loves V&A's, I'm sure he'll go just as mad from the suspense as we already are.
As if eating in the QVR weren't exciting enough, they have to torture us that much more, eh, Dave?
And now, heeeere's Dave with more on what our menu surprise will involve....

I got the PM from your beloved Drewness and not sure what to expect with the menu? Is it a complete overhaul of the menu for the MDR and QVR/CT as well or just a few changes? Not sure what it will be but as they mentioned this when Drew talked to them it must be something! In the years I've dined here, I've never had that mentioned to me.
You have certainly saturated my appetite with this possible theme/overhaul to the V & A's menu on this night, which I wasn't expecting! If they mentioned anything specific to Drew, I don't want to know as a surprise is best and expels much more Disney Magic in this regard The suspense is deafening and just a week away when you read this! How can I sleep now?
