As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I was just on another thread and can acress a post, when I went there I found lots of helpul information, but even greater, there was a video. It actually showed someone making their FP+ reservation online.
Since I am 62 Days out at this point I have not been able to even see the interface to see how it works. The video was great. Thought it might be helpful to post. CLICK HERE

Well, I think I have made my selections. I have to say this is really a lot of stress on a WDW vacation planner. I know where we will be each day, but do not know the exact times we will arrive and then transition somewhere else. So that makes the process even more of a challenge. I decided to just look at the options available at the park where we would be in the morning, then pick based on that.
I plan to arrive as soon as our tired Vacation Hard bodies will get us there in the morning, and do what we can prior to the late morning crowds. Then I would schedule of first FP+ about 10 or 11 am, then one each hour until the three are up.
I am also banking this decision on changes that it seems that WDW is going to be made to the system. I sounds like they are going to allow you to (1) choose additional FP+ after your three are gone, based on what is available, and (2) Park Hop with FP+ and choose from those available in a different park. This may be a risky strategy, but it is the plan I am heading in with.
To be honest, on our prior trip in 2010 we never got or used 3 FP in a single day, so I think we will be okay regardless. Three is already better that we got then.
Based on the theory above, here are the plans I am making: Sunday: Safari @2, Nemo @3, Kali @ 5 (We will not arrive at park until at least noon) Monday: Toy @ 11, Mermaid @ 1, Star @ 3 Tuesday: Soaren @ 10, Land @ 11, Spaceship @ 12 Wednesday: Tough Bug @ 10, Everest @ 11, Prime Whirl @ 1 Thursday: Belle @ 10, Mine @ 11, Space @ 12 Friday: Test Track @ 10, Nemo @ 11, Space @ 12 Saturday: Toy @ 10, Movie @ 11, Tower @ 12 Sunday: Mine @ 10, Thunder @ 11, Splash @ 12
The last Sunday is still up in the air because I only have 7-day tickets. Why I only bought 7-day PH tickets is beyond me. I thought might want to skip the parks one day the wifes idea. I know it will not happen, but it is too late now. I bought the tickets from Undercover Tourist, so I did not know if I would be able to add the 8th day prior to going, or if I would have to do it when we get there. The later was my plan, and then I was just going to schedule the FP+ then. In just a couple days we will see how it all works out.

Great plans! I must add that there are still no FP+ available for the Mine Train. I did my selections on Monday. So you may want to have an alternative for that.

The answer is yes, I did figure out the system. I got an email yesterday morning saying that I could now start making my FP+ selections. So as the day progressed that is exactly what I did.
The system itself was pretty easy to figure out. There were a couple bumps in the road that I had to work through. First was that on each screen in the process you have to make a selection, then scroll down and choose Next on every screen. Also, I was a little thrown off on the screen where you choose a park, oddly enough. The reason is because if you have an ADR in a park, a giant image of that park icon shows up on that day. Often that was the evening park for me, and I would have to stop and look at my notes to make sure of the park I was selecting.
From there I just selected the rides and attractions I wanted for the list. They are still using the tier system at EP and HS, so that was a pain. Other than that, we had the option of choosing whatever we wanted. I realize I was still 60 days out, but everything was an option. Toy Story, Soaren, Test Track, etc. So I made my selections.
The other thing I did not like was how they presented the options to me. During the entire week we are there, I was not able to just select any of the options as they were. I had to make time changes on each one, but it was not to hard.
As you will see, my strategy is banking on WDW allowing additional FP+ once your three are gone, as the rumors suggest. I chose to start my FP+ selections when the crowds start to fill us each morning. Sometime in the 10 am hour. Thinking we would ride all we could until that time, then start the FP+ rides, then add new ones. If all goes as planned we will have lots of FPs. We will see.
Where is what I ended up with:
Sunday @ AK: Safaris - 3:30, Kali River - 4:30, Finding Nemo - 5:30
Monday @ HS: Toy Story - 10:15, Little Mermaid - 10:25, Star Tours - 12:45
Tuesday @ EP: Soarin 10:20, Living With Land - 11:20, Mission Space - 1:05
Wednesday @ AK: Everest 10:05, Dinosaur 11:05, Tough to be a Big 1:10
Thursday @ MK: Peter Pan 9:30, Tales with Belle 10:45, Space 12:30
Glad you were able to get all the fastpasses you wanted! I was surprised at how easy the system was. One thing that annoyed me was the options they gave. Some of the times were off and I had to go back an change them. But other than that, it was easy peasy.
