The CLQ Heads West - Even Eileen!! - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great pics! It sounds like so much fun to be with such great friends. It is making me super excited for my BFF trip coming up in 104 days!! Getting to meet my 2 best PP and not in PP friends for the first time. I can hardly stand it!!!
Dinner looked like lots of fun, and I am loving Zacks different poses. I have to say, I like the "Who's that boy?" poses the best.
What a fun night! Weird about the alarm though. That happened to me once. I think housekeeping does it sometimes just to mess with you. Ever since then, I always examine the alarm clock before I hit the hay!

I love Chick-fil-A but not those pickles, yuck! warm and mushy. I always order mine with out pickles. As far as fast food chicken I think they are the best and mine at home even brings the food out to you and throws out your trash - never get that at BK or McD's.
Let me just say the beach ball pillows are just so cute -I want one.
Carsland look great but can't imagine waiting in an hour long fast pass line. I'm really hoping that if I can get out to DCA/DL next year that the lines have died down some. That is one of the reasons I'm waiting a year.
So sorry the alarm went off in the middle of the night - so scary but at least it was a false alarm.

That Craig! I need to sit him down and talk some sense into him.
Ugh, yes...please do!!!
Love the 'cars' monorail! So cute. Love the picture of you all with Goofy. And of course all the pictures of all or part of Zack's head and his Dragon Ball poses. Reminds me of when Tyler was 4 and after meeting the Power Rangers posed like one for EVERY picture after that. My boys would have a BLAST posing for pics with Zack

I had to get Peter and Jacob to explain the Dragonball Z pose to me. They thought the photo of Goofy doing it along with Zach was hilarious!
Look at your kids. Look at my kid. Look at your kids. Look at my kid. Somehow I need to help Z-man upgrade the humor.

Your kid was 4! Adorable! My kid is 19! Not so adorable.
Shashi, I'd say that it's your camera that is making us all look so shiny and happy, but I think it's just us being together that does that. Love!

While the beach ball pillows are cute, I have to say that even though the room looks very nice, I can't say that I am overwhelmed by the theming. Doesn't it seem, I don't know, a bit perfunctory? Anyway, I completely understand wanting to check this one off, but I think for my first stay I will go with Grand Californian or the Disneyland Hotel.
Gosh, Sharon, you went right to sleep?
Larry, you may remember "The Big Kahuna Family" trip report - Paradise Pier was awful - great service but they did us no favor giving us that big suite! We've been repeats of the GC and the DL hotel, but never PP! I'd like to see an implosion with a new hotel or at least a DVC addition because we do love the theming!
Sharon - we prefer Wendy's Chicken Sandwich, family style (love it!), over Chick-Fil-A, although it may be second.
I definitely vote for pics with Zac and Dawn's boys! That would make me laugh!
Watching fireworks in pajamas sounds great. The middle of the night wakeup call, not so much.
Sounds like you had the perfect room at the DLH! How amazing to be able to watch the fireworks shows from the room with the tv for sound! Do the rooms there have balconies? Love the photos from the character meal. Zach is too funny-- I can't wait until he becomes a famous film-maker. Those will be some films!
The rooms at the DLH do not have balconies, sadly.

Apparently, being starstruck makes me look a bit manic. (And I blame my crappy hairspray for leaving me with limp hair. Ugh!)
Not manic, a happy glow!

Smooches!
Now I take back those nice things I said. Besides, Goofy and I don't want to blend in with the crowd.

It wasn't the alarm clock (though I've had that happen to me before). It was the carbon monoxide (or smoke) detector.

I think the lines will go down by next summer. It seems like all of California was coming to see it. It'll stay popular, just not insane like it is now.

I am sure Zack would adore inspiring your boys to pose for goofy pictures.

Will have to try Wendy's family style chicken!

Just caught up with the rest of the report. Great pics of DCA! I'm so excited, I'm bouncing up and down! I can't wait to get back to DL - sooner rather than later!
I was surprised you drove from PP - maybe because Karen had to drive over from Embassy Suites? At least you used the tram so that saves the feet. We were exhausted when we walked over from PP to the parks, although we learned to cut through the GC. Your pic with Goofy inspired me to dig out our pic for the sig line.
Congrats on upgrading to the E-ticket Club. We upgraded to the E-ticket Club one Thanksgiving weekend. The Christmas decorations were awesome and the views of the fireworks are fabulous. Our room was 2 doors down, so that was quite convenient. The CM insisted we take milk and cookies back to our room with us - boy do I miss that - lol!
Kudos to Eileen for having her name in lights. As one writer to another, I know how exciting that is and to being a GH finalist at the RWA awards ceremony!
So sorry I missed the convention. If we hadn't moved to Florida... oh well, at least there will be lots of Disneyland cuz we're moving back west - woo hoo!
If we can ever time our trips right, well, that would be awesome!
