As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Congrats on so easily working the book signing into your plans! I had seen this on the Disney blog and would have liked to have been there, but we'll be way too late.
Sending loads of for Hunter to have many no- meltdown days, especially at WDW.
I was so excited when I saw he would be in HS the day we were planning to be there anyway. It would have been a lot harder to fit in on some of the other days we are there. I'm sure the kids will love it.
Thanks for the pixies for Hunter, today was another good day.

I just had to share that Pat has arrived home safe. He wasn't suppose to get here till tomorrow, so it was a nice surprise. Things are looking good for the trip.
After the ruckus died down of the kids and dogs jumping all over Daddy I asked them "Your Daddy just got home from a 4 month trip, what are you going to do next?" and of course they shouted "We're going to Disney World!!!!"
Love the reaction of all your kids (Furry ones included) My two barely let me get in the door without jumping all over me and thats just when I take out the Trash
After the ruckus died down of the kids and dogs jumping all over Daddy I asked them "Your Daddy just got home from a 4 month trip, what are you going to do next?" and of course they shouted "We're going to Disney World!!!!"
That's really cute! I'm glad he got home safe and the plans are still in order!
He had a long drive from Florida of all places. He actually stayed one night in a hotel 30 minutes aways from AKL.

Yes, we have three labs and they also act crazy if we take out the trash. I'm slightly dreading the attack when we get back after the trip.

He was suppose to be back originally in early to mid-March, so we weren't planning on cutting it this close to the trip.
It has been a little hectic around the house with Pat getting home. He has been busy cleaning up the outside of the house and I have been busy recleaning the inside of the house. I finished all the laundry today, including the stuff he needed washed and I have most of our things together for the trip.
Here's my staging area at the moment, it is starting to look a little scary, but I haven't really been organizing as I go so it's a little messy:
I met with our pet sitter today and she is all set to keep an eye on our A, B, & C labs (Abby, Bear, & Chessie). I think they are starting to suspect we are leaving soon, although Chessie doesn't understand yet. It makes me a little sad because Bruno had terrible separation issues and we always had to have him on meds when we left. It actually got to the point that we had to start the meds before we pulled out the suitcases or he would start to have diarrhea badly! I just miss having him around.
Today Shana and I went and got mani's and pedi's for the trip. She has never had a pedi before and she really enjoyed it.
I also cooked our favorite recipe (so far) from my Cooking With Mickey Cookbook. It is the Honey Sesame Chicken from Nine Dragons. We have never actually eaten there, but do have an ADR this trip. We are all curious to see if we like mine or Disney's better.
Tomorrow I will be finishing getting everything together and will start putting everything into the suitcases. I will clean the house back up, and try to vacuum and mop the floors. I will swing by the post office to ship a package for Pat and also let them know we will be gone so they can hold my mail. I will charge all of the kids electronics (Nintendo DS, iPods, etc.) and make sure to pack the chargers for the trip. I will also charge and update my iPod so I don't have to listen to Christmas music all the way there (I haven't updated it in awhile ). I also have to make sure Hunter finishes up his school assignments he didn't do today, and I need to grade everything for this week and enter it in my grading system (don't want to do that when I get back). Thankfully the kids are at the public school tomorrow afternoon and I will hopefully have 2 1/2 uninterrupted hours to get some of this done.

So close! Friends of mine are leaving tonight to head down, so I'm doubly jealous of all of you! Your staging area will closely resemble mine in probably 2-3 weeks, I think that's normal! Good luck getting everything done, I'm sure you'll be fine (as long as you ditch the Christmas music lol).
I'm so excited and so far everything is moving smoothly.

I'm sorry you are doubly jealous. Your trip isn't far away though! I got the Christmas music off the iPod last night. I knew that would be something I would forget to do and would be very mad at myself.
