Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

How awesome Evan got a magical surprise from that gentleman! We have that big monorail set (and we bought it before kids)! It goes around the Christmas tree every year instead of a train.
I hope the group picks up the pace! I know I was frustrated at times with my group, but they all kept up at least.

I'm not surprised Evan is getting so many birthday treats - he's so adorable! But how magical that park guests were so sweet to give Evan birthday money. I love hearing stories like that!

I love the continuing saga of the birthday pin surprises! Evan is just such a cutie that I can't imagine anyone NOT wanting to make him happy!

I hope you're able to get the others moving quicker! It sounds a lot like my trip to WDW. There was so much I wanted to do, and the others had asked me to do the planning, but no one was following my plan!

I felt slow the last time we went too except ours was our young son who seemed to have melt downs a lot and we would go back to the hotel. I would say but we haven't done anything yet--that can be annoying. How generous of that couple-I thought it was sweet when a man saw my son playing with the squished penny machine and allowed him to choose which one he wanted and bought it for him.

This reminds me of the move 'Love Actually' where they say something like "Love, actually is all around".
We bought a train for under the tree this year it was a really cheap $25.00 and he was thrilled with it. I would have considered the monorail if I had a way of getting it home without paying for shipping as well.

It is so nice when strangers do nice things - sort of restores your faith in mankind. Sorry about the melt downs. Evan was really good - I don't think he had any. It helped waiting until he was 5 for his first trip - we did have melt downs as you see in the next installment, but just not Evan.

Monday 10/17 Part 3

“What the heck just happened?”

We get to MK and headed over to Tomorrowland and started with getting FP for Buzz. We then did Monsters Inc Laugh Factory. This was a ton of fun as I think about half our group was involved in the show. As everyone was being seated Steve was up on the screen. His snippet was “This guy is buying everyone churros after the show”. Both Eric and Evan had their jokes told. And Christine had to do some crazy thing by making some hoop and hollering sound. Then Gunnar got on camera too. It was so much fun.

Side note – here are the jokes we submitted, feel free to use them yourself.
Evan: Why do sharks swim in salt water? Because pepper water makes them sneeze.
Eric: How much does it cost a pirate to get his ears pierced? A buccaneer (buck an ear)
Megan: Why was the broom late to school? Because he over swept. (we used this one before and it was said in the show – but not this time)
Aaron: Why do sea gulls swim over the sea? Because if they swam over the bay they would be called bagels

After Monsters Inc it was on to Buzz. I thoroughly beat Evan but didn’t think he would even notice – he did. I assured him that the next time he rode I was sure he could beat Mommy – and he did! . Then it was the WedWay (people mover) or whatever it is called now.

All the kids wanted to ride the star jets next. Not realizing that an adult had to be with the little guys we finagled around a little as neither Jill nor I wanted to go on them. Steve and Christine went up and Aaron was the other “adult”. Mom, Jill and I waited below. I took a potty break and made a comment that things were going so well. The kids were all getting along and we had a good mix of group time and alone time. It was really turning out to be a nice night.

I come back from the rest room and they are on the ride so I go over to get the stroller. When I come back they are off the ride and back on the ground and Gunnar is crying hysterically. Christine is bright red with rage and Jill is talking with Steve who is obviously pissed off about something. I thought Gunnar was scared or hurt him self or something. I was like “what the heck just happened?” I was trying to catch up because everything happened so fast. They were all laughs and smiles heading up to the ride and when they come out it was all tears and yelling…

I was sorta in this haze of “what is going on” when I see Steve storm off, my mom is talking with Christine trying to calm her down. I look at Jill and from what we could piece together when they were leaving the ride something happened with Gunnar’s shoe, Steve said something to him which made Gunnar cry and then Christine said something to Steve which pissed him off…Not sure how things were said or what was said but everyone was now mad.

The kids calm down and my mom gets Chris back under control and we are waiting for Steve to return. I figured he went to a store to get a soda or something to cool off. My sister then calls him to see where he is. Now we are all waiting in Tomorrowland and she said “He’s at the flag pole?”
I’m like “at the entrance?”
“Yes”.

So at this point Jill leaves to go and get Steve. We keep her kids with us. Gunnar is now totally recovered; Evan, Eric and Megan didn’t have a clue as to what happened but Christine is mouthing off about Steve, calling him a child and she is going back to New Jersey and yada, yada, yada. All the while Aaron is right there hearing all of it. I feel like telling her to shut up as she was trash talking about his father.

Now I can’t really comment as to what happened or who is to blame but I think both adults handled this poorly. Chris should not have been bad mouthing Steve in front of his children and Steve should not have stormed off without so much as a word. My thought was “It must be nice to just walk away from your kids and hope someone else takes care of them”. As I find out later I also think Gunnar way over reacted and he had a few other melt-downs over “nothing” during the week – but that is a story for another day.

Now I was determined that this would not ruin my vacation. It might make it more difficult as now Mom and I were in the middle of it but there was no way this would stop my fun. So we continued on and did Mickey’s Philharmagic and Small World. After that enough time had passed and everyone appeared under control again so we headed back to the hotel to call it a night.

Coming Up Next
Will they make peace?

Birthday pin surprise count: 4

With so many people in the group you are doing very good to keep you and Evan under control. Sorry for all of the meltdowns. This is why my wife and I try to keep the group small wherever we travel so we can better control the events.
