Girls Trip to the World! TR COMPLETED 11/9 Wedding Pictrues Posted - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm sorry, I couldn't help but chuckle when you were describing your pretzel incident, only because I would be the one slipping.
You've just confirmed that your from Western NY when you mentioned the Vodka Tea! We lived in Lockport for a short while after getting married, and it's become my favorite drink. Order it anywhere else in NY and they want to give you a Long Island Ice Tea.
Go Bills!

Looking back, it really was an accident waiting to happen. And I chuckle when I think of it as well!
Nice to meet a former Western New Yorker! We live in Clarence Center so Lockport is just north of us.
Yeah, Liz packed a bottle of vodka and we had a constant supply of sweet iced tea in the fridge because it's her favorite drink as well.
yep, keep telling yourself that. It's the higher curbs - or the ground trolls. I'm glad you're OK, and it was clearly OK to take a dip in the pool. Sounds like they took good care of you and you felt put back to rights.
I love the lunch in the room idea. We've got a condo this year, and it might be lovely to take a real break rather than a swoop-in-and-take-a-quick-swim break. Hmmm...
I know! The girls were starting to worry. But really, I think the tip of my flip flop caught the curb and I lost my balance. I'm just grateful I didn't break a bone or chip a tooth!
Yes, that is a very good thing! That way you still look like this....
So sorry you fell again, but I'm glad you only ended up with a scrape and not a more serious injury. And how nice to finally have some quiet time at the quiet pool!
The pictures around the Poly are beautiful! I can only hope to get to stay there one day. Looking forward to hearing about Ohana.

Yes, lunch in the room was a good way to get some down time in.
And the create your own pasta at POR was a huge portion!

We were impressed by the Poly too. I'd only ever been to Kona once and we never really went outside, so I was glad to get there early and stroll around on the grounds. So beautiful!
At 6:40 we checked in and were given a pager. It went off about 7:00 and a very lovely hostess showed us to our table. I don’t remember her name, but she was from London. She asked if we’d ever been to ‘Ohana and when we said no, she explained how it all worked. We were seated at a table for three right on the aisle. The table already had our salad on it when we arrived and the hostess had picked up a loaf of bread on our way and placed that on the table as well.
Then they brought out the dipping sauces. These were delicious! I forget what they were though!
Our server, Autumn, stopped by soon and explained again how everything worked. She got our drinks: diet coke and pomegranate lemonade, which the girls loved! We barely had time to start on the bread and salad when the dumplings and chicken wings were delivered to our table.
And after only a few minutes (I’d eaten only one dumpling and hadn’t even tried the wings) the shrimp arrived! It was delicious, but I found it a little hard to peel. Then the noodles and vegetables were delivered to the table.
And soon they came out with pork, chicken and beef.
So much food! In a matter of 20 minutes we had a ton of food at our table!
I thought they gave you more time between courses! Maybe that was our fault - We could have said no when they started coming with the skewers. But we were new at this! Anyway, we ate, and ate, and ate! Everything was delicious!!
During dinner we enjoyed the guy who played the ukulele. Then he invited the kids to have a maraca parade, and then they did the limbo – right next to our table!
The kids seemed to be having lots of fun and we enjoyed watching.
By the time we were finished our table looked like this:
When they started clearing our table, the bowl of chicken wings still had quite a few left. Unfortunately, they would not give us a container for them. I can understand not giving containers for the skewered meats, since some people would take advantage of that, but the items they bring to your table in bowls - chicken wings, dumplings, and noodles end up getting thrown out. It’s such a shame to waste food.
Oh well.
When everything was cleared away they brought our bread pudding.
Liz and I both loved it but Katie wasn’t too interested in the bread pudding. She just ate some of the ice cream. When they brought the dessert to our table, the server had a huge bowl of ice cream with whipped cream and sprinkles. Katie’s eye lit up since she thought it was for us, but the server put our bread pudding down and then took the ice cream to the next table where there was a family with children. I told Kate we could ask for a bowl of ice cream but she said no, she was too full anyway.
A few restaurant pictures:
After dinner we made a quick stop in the bathroom and then headed out to the monorail. Back to MK and then a bus back to POR. On the way back we decided we would go to the resort movie. They were showing Enchanted in the Oak Manor courtyard at 9:00. We made it back by 8:55, went to the room, changed and grabbed some towels to sit on, and made it to the courtyard by 9:10. Katie had filled us in on the first ten minutes of the movie while we were getting ready, so we were up to speed. It was a fun and relaxing night. There were a few mosquitoes bothering us, but Kate went back to the room and got our insect repellent wipes. They worked pretty well – I was glad I’d brought them. The movie was over by 10:30 and we went back to the room. I worked on my trip notes, and we watched some TV. Lights out at midnight.
The weather today was mostly sunny.
The best thing today was Rock n Roller Coaster
The worst thing today was me falling while trying to get out of the way of the dance party
The funniest thing today was sitting at our table at the Poly while the kids did the limbo right next to us.
Today we tried ‘Ohana
And the result was delicious! But lots of food!
The most magical moment today was watching Enchanted on the big screen outside

So that's one fall at Epcot and one fall at DHS. Talk about a "trip" around the World! (Sorry, couldn't resist...but I am truly sorry you were hurting yourself while on vacation.)
All that food at Ohana looked yummy--much better than the salad I grabbed tonight between the trick or treaters.
Looking forward to more of your TR. But be careful of the "sidewalk snakes"!
Ohana is one of those restaurants I'm convinced I make money on with ODS. He eats enough shrimp to sink a ship. It's amazing. It's our first dinner this next trip.
