Wait!!! Wasn't this supposed to be a weekend trip? TR COMPLETE 11/2 - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like an awesome start to the day! So glad you loved Sanaa...I think it is one of the hidden gems of WDW...AKL really is quite a special resort, besides being unique, I feel like it exudes a level of peace and warmth that the other resorts do not. Hope the girls enjoyed their pool time and you got some much needed R&R.
Danielle

I was really happy with our room location (both times), we had a wonderful view and it was so easy to get to the pool and to the Mara (of course room location luck will not hold out for the whole trip..., more about that later).

Thanks Cam, I thought of you alot each time a giraffee passed by. I love giraffees, I think they are such elegant and regal animals, it was a delight to have such great action on our first day and Jasmine was having loads of fun taking pictures, everytime she took another one I would say "wow Cam would love that picture"
You will make it into my TR again later in the trip as well , the early lunch was the best idea, the restuarant was very empty, our food came quickly (which at that moment we all needed), and the meal was amazing. It was a top pick for all and we will definitely be returning (it has made it to the must do list).

We really enjoyed the lazy morning, we tried it last year as well and it proved to be a wonderful way to start off our trip.

We really loved it, I have read so many wonderful TRs and we always loved visiting but nothing compared to our stay there...it was truly magical and you were so right about Sanaa - there was nothing that we tried that we did not love.

Really amazing, I could have dined on the califlower alone. There was so much I wanted to try, so they definitely will be another visit soon.

When we were on the plane I asked her "so what happened to the jumping up and down and screaming" she told me "mommy that was my fake surprise...I did not think you were really going to surprise me"

I was glad that we were able to keep the surprise, not sure if we would be able to do it again, she is just too into what I am doing now...

I'm so glad you enjoyed Sanaa! And great photos of the animals.
We loved AKL and the girls told me they are so happy that we made that our home resort. I think Jasmine would be happy staying there every trip, while she still enjoyed the Boardwalk she said there is just something so special at AKL, like truly not being at Disney but somewhere exotic.

Your first day sounds great so far. I hope the headache hit the road though - I know all about those darn things!
I was so happy we were able to get it on video this time. We really did have a great first day, it is now a set plan for us to relax the first day and then hit a park later in the evening, it really just sets the mood and we all feel refreshed when we finally hit the parks.
The girls were in their suits and on their way to the pool and I curled up on the bed and prayed my head would get better. My headaches get really bad and all I ever think is getting one on vacation. They get to a point where I just canot function and I did not want this to ruin the trip.
I rested for about an hour and Jasmine called to see how I was feeling, I told her I was going to come dow for a bit and see if some fresh air helped. Once I got up the headache was still there but it was much more bearable so I headed down to meet the girls.
They were thirsty and Jasmine had finished her bottle of water so I headed over to the Mara to grab two refillable cups. With drinks in hand I made my way back and grabbed a chair and watched the girls in the pool. Angel had already made friends and was joining in some of the pool games and Jasmine made her way over to me and decided to take some sun.
I took his time to wander the pool area and take some pictures (as Jasmine was busy taking sun so I could finally get near the camera )
I loved the flamingos, it was so cool to wander around the pool and see them all enjoying themselves in the sun. After a bit more exploring I made my way back to Jasmine and enjoyed the sun for awhile. We finally headed in around 3:45 as we had dinner at 6:45 at 1900 PF and we needed to shower and get dressed.
My head was finally feeling better so while the girls took their turns showering I unpacked and the girls finished up while I showered. We made our way to the buses and within a few minutes a MK bus showed up. We got to the MK around 5 and figured we had time for a ride or two before heading over to the GF for dinner.
We headed over to Tomorrowland and we hit Buzz Lightyear first. After a sad showing we decided to go on one of our favorites, the COP, we all enjoyed, especially me as the AC flt so good and before heading out we did one fast ride on the TTA.
We made our way towards the front of the park and over to the monorail, there was one pulling in as we mde our way up the ramp and before we knew it we were at the GF.
We got there within 5 minutes of our ADR and we checked in, they gave us our buzzer and by the time we made our way to the lobby to wait it was going off so we headed in for our picture (which I actually liked so I bought - I will scan it and post it later) and we were headed in to our table.
We were seated in the corner table before you hit that room off to the side and lady Tramaine made a beeline over to our table. Great way to start off our meal
Jasmine of course was going to sit the picture out but Lady Tremaine was not hearing of that and before getting into any trouble she joined in for a picture. Lady Tremaine asked if I had heard anything about her from other people and I told her that I heard what a wonderful mother she was..."well she was just delighted to hear that as she said she felt so unappreciated as a mom after all that she did for her daughters"
We had some time before the rest of the characters made their way over to us and around this time Chef Harry came to give us our allergy tor of the buffet. I have always found that there is so much we can eat here, and thee were a few items he said he felt more comfortable bringing from the back for Angel and we had a pate shortly. He told us to let us know when Angel was ready for dessert. He was really great and very helpful and the girls filled up their plates as did I and we made our way back to the table.
It is very rare that I get to eat dinner rolls but Chef Harry sent out some safe ones for us so it was a real plus. It was also during dinner that unfortunetly I felt the headache creeping back so I took a pill quickly as I hoped to nip it before it got worse.
We were visited by the Step-Sisters next and Angel enjoyed her visits with them.
We told the server that Angel was ready for dessert, she also brought Jasmine a cupcake for her gradation along with a placemat (which she sadly forgot at the restaurant). Jasmine was so full and there was a family sitting next to us with two daughters, well they brought one of the daughters a cupcake for her birthday so Jasmine asked if hr sister would like her cupcake. The little girl was all smiles and gladly took the cupcake from Jasmine.
While we were waiting for Angel's dessert the Prince came for a visit.
While Angel enjoyed her visit with the Prince the real prince in her eyes was Chef Harry as he made his way over to the table with her "dessert for a princess" as he called it.
While we were enjoying dessert the waltz started and the Prince came over to Angel and asked her if she would allow him a dance. She went up and partook in the waltz with him...
Someone was blushing as she returned to her table
We took care of the bill:
Our meal before tax, gratuities and TIW discount: $119.97
Our meal after tax, gratuities and TIW discount: $123.81
Meals Savings: $23.99
Total TIW Savings for the trip so far: $32.24
Our rating for 1900 PF: 4.2
As we were leaving we realized that even with seeing Lady Tremaine and the Step-Sisters pass by more than once we had never seen Cinderella, I asked Angel if she wanted to see her but she was fine...she said "mom I don't come here to see Cinderella, I come to see her mean mom and her step-sisters"
We made our way out and the girls wanted to look in the basin so I decided to head outside to take a few pictures, I told the girls I would meet them at the store.
We headed back to the monorail and back to the MK. The MK had EMH until 3 that night which I did not think we would get close too (we will see), plus we had a very exciting meet lined up for tonight.
Up Next: How long did we last and Angel met her match.
