Shhhh ... A Very Merry Surprise! ~ PTR for 11/4 - 11/12 2011 - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

You are going to have such a great time at the festival, one of the best yet (with 8 under my belt that's saying something!)
Well, now I really can't wait for it!!! I'm so glad you had a great time at the festival, I've been sitting here not so patiently waiting for your TR to start so I can read all about it
Aaack!!! Two weeks from tomorrow and we will be on our way! I have no idea where the time has gone, I feel like this trip is just sneaking up on me I've been busy with the start of the school year and DDs extra curricular activities, and I've got the next couple of weeks to plan two class parties for Halloween and get all of our gear ready for our trip!
I've knocked quite a few things off of my "to do" list. I finally gave in and decided to rent a stroller for Abby from Orlando Stroller Rentals. I was hemming and hawing, since she has not used a stroller in quite some time, but realized that it will come in handy in the evenings or just when she needs a rest.
Also, all of our toietries are packed and ready to go, as well as our ponchos (which I was desperately trying to find - DH finally found them the other day packed up in a random box in our garage!) Basically all that's left is to pick up snacks/drinks for our car ride, pack up our clothes and the travel bags for DDs to use in the car. Oh, and the goody bags for the surprise reveal.
I did, finally, get around to making the T shirts for the girls too. I'm working on posting some pics, but Photobucket is being uncooperative at the moment. I've resized the pics, but they are still showing quite large ....
I'll keep trying and get them posted when I've figured it out! If anyone has any advice, please share
So, I think that's it, just a few more things and we'll be home free Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the Dessert Party! It doesn't look like it's going to happen this time around I've been checking the site constantly, but no availabilities seem to be opening up. I'll keep trying, but if we don't get it I'll just put it on the list of things for our next trip
OK, I'm thrilled for your trip and all, but I can't get over the fact that in 16 days Halloween will be over and WDW will be decorated for Christmas! We're leaving right after Thanksgiving, and I'm beginning to realize that I need to start my Christmas shopping before we go.
I can feel your excitement travelling right off of the screen. You are getting me excited and my trip is nearly a year away! lol.
Thanks for reading along! Hope you have a great time on your trip!

Have fun getting everything done in two weeks!
I know, it does feel strange that we will be celebrating Christmas at Disney in just a couple of weeks. It's amazing how fast they get the decorations changed though. Imagine the feeling we had last year leaving the MK on Halloween, only to arrive the next morning to see it all decked out for Christmas! Very surreal
Ugh, Christmas shopping, I don't even want to think about it
Ok, I think the problem is fixed, I'm going to try and post the pics of the T shirts I made for the girls. So here it goes ...
I was a little dissapointed that the white background stays put with the "dark" transfer paper, I think I would have been happier if I chose a lighter fabric for the shirts. Overall I am happy with them and I think that Kaeli and Abby are going to love them!
Great job on the t-shirts. The photos look the same size to me. I was having issues with photobucket earlier today when I updated my TR. Half of my pictures were showing up huge and then when I checked again they were back to normal.
You are going to be so busy up until your trip 2 weeks is going to fly by! I can't wait to hear how your reveal goes.
I just read your whole PTR and I'm so excited for your trip! You've done a great job keeping the surprise from your girls. I don't even entertain the thought of a surprise trip because I know I wouldn't be able to keep it bottled up inside. I need someone to talk about Disney with and my 4 yr old is my best option these days. My hubby just usually rolls his eyes.
I can't wait to hear all about MVMCP. We're taking our first trip to WDW during the Christmas season the first week of December. So I feel like your TR will give me a sneak peek into everything. Have a great trip.

Thanks for joining in and reading along! Keeping the surprise has been so hard, but it is totally going to be worth it when I get to reveal it to my DDs! It has been very helpful to share everything here on the boards, at least I get to vent my excitement a little bit And I fully understand the rolling of the eyes from the hubby, mine does it all the time
Hopefully I'll come home with lots of info for you all about MVMCP for your trip!

Thanks! All of the pics look good to me now, good to know it was a Photobucket issue and not mine. I thought I was going crazy for a minute there
Thanks, Cam! But, I really can't take all of the credit. all I had to do was print, cut and iron on the transfers Linda (Shadowryter) was so generous to help me with the designs. I love the Passporter boards!
