2 Year Anniversary PTR September 2010 - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Paperwork from Seaworld/Discovery Cove Among Other Things
So, first of all, I can't find my Seaworld Paperwork for the Shark Swim. I think it may have accidentally made it into my sister in laws bedroom. Eesh.
Second of all, I was reading back over this PTR and realized that I never called SeaWorld to find out why they never sent paperwork for the dolphin swim, so I will definitely have to call tomorrow. Of course, if I can't find my shark paperwork, I may have to have them send me both.
I did a very thorough cleaning of our bedroom today, because it was driving me nuts, and while I was sorting through some paperwork that David had thrown in a box when I asked him to clean up a few weeks ago (gotta love husbands who act like little boys when it comes to chores, right? ), I found a TON of stuff that I had set aside for my scrapbook of our honeymoon and had "lost." So now I'm super excited because I can finish it. Plus it kind of brought out all the excitement of a Disney Trip seeing all the Disney Paperwork from the last trip we took.
David and I bought "Meet the Robinson's" the other day. We had never seen it! It is now one of my all time favorite Disney Movies. I LOVE this movie, and the quote at the end from Walt Disney literally made me cry. I don't know why...I didn't cry until I saw that it was Walt Disney who said it...I just think he would have loved this movie. In my mind, it's a classic.

That's great you found your scrapbooking supplies you thought you lost. Yipeee!!! I haven't seen Meet the Robinson's, honestly I am not sure even what movie that is, I will have to look it up. I LOVE Walt!!! He is prolly my fav thing about WDW, I think he is the most incredible man. Not to mention, in his younger years he was quite the looker too!
I have to say, I am ultra lucky when it comes to DH's and chores. My problem is he will do any regular chore...vaccuuming(his fav, seriously), dishes, laundry, clean the bathroom, the kitchen floor, dust, basically anything. But...ask him to do something out of the ordinary forget it! It takes him FOR- EVER!!! I have had a set of white plastic drawers in my LR for like 2 months, bc it needs to be put in his closet, which has to be reorganized to get it in. 2 months!!
Thank goodness you remembered about your dolphin swim!! That sounds like SOOOOOOO much fun!!! The sharks kind of scare me a bit, but I would prolly do that too! I actually have this strange fascination with sharks. I love Shark Week on Discovery Channel. Hahahaha! I am hoping you have done at least one of those when we meet up, so you can tell me all about it!!
Great update!

Unfortunately, we won't be doing the Dolphin Swim or the Shark Dive until the week after we meet up! We're doing the dolphin swim on the day of our actual anniversary. (The 24th is our anniversary.) We're doing the shark dive the day before.

Thanks, Cam! I was so excited when I found it! And you have excellent taste in movies.

Thats too bad. But I know I'll hear all about it in the TR when you get back? LOL
That is really neat to do the dophin swim ON your anniversary. My anny is in Sept too, on the 15th. I will be in WDW during my anny, but without the DH. I was there last year for it, but it was the day we left. We did go to CP (MK) for lunch before we left though. They put a heart of mickey sparkles-a term I love from BenjiBoo(Shelly)DD's-aka confetti on our table before we got to it. So cool, I got a pic of it.
All caught up!
for David's shoulder!
Congrats on the new shoes!
And we're going to WDW next September (17-24) too!!

Depending on your schedule Kelly, Jess, David, and my party are meeting at Epcot on the 17th 9:30-10ish. It would be a PP group! Fun! We are meeting for slushys at France and who knows!

Today, I found the paperwork for our Shark Dive lurking in a pile of Sarah's (my sister in laws) things on the love seat in the living room. Beware the Sarah! She scoops up everything and anything near her belongings when she "cleans" and it ends up in a pile in her room or on the couch or whatever. I've lost many things this way.
I counted my Disney movies today. I have 51 of them. Not enough!!! Lol! I've decided that once I get to be 51 days out from our trip, we are going to start watching them, in alphabetical order. So first up will be 101 Dalmations and then Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Bedtime Stories, etc etc. I'll post what movie we watched every day, and maybe a fun fact about the movie or something...plus how many movies/days we've got left before our trip of course!
Today, at Wal*Mart, I got a collapsible mesh laundry basket for our trip. Last time, we forgot to bring garbage sacks, so when we needed to go do laundry, we had to put our dirty laundry in a couple of duffel bags. I thought about just bringing trash bags this time, but I think that looks messy in a hotel room. So I'm bringing my own laundry hamper...because I'm weird that way.
I also pulled our luggage out of storage and sprayed it with Frebreze so it smells all fresh now. I'll just keep it in the corner of our bedroom until it's time to pack. I know we're still 73 days out...well 72 since it's after midnight......but I'm too excited not to have my luggage out and waiting for me. I have a really nice set of luggage that my great Uncle Clint gave my husband and I as a wedding gift. I have the smaller bags inside the larger ones so I can store them easily. I my luggage!
Tomorrow morning we are going to talk to the surgeon, so we'll know if David is going to be having surgery or not, and when that will occur.
In the next couple of days I'm going to come up with a packing list and a "To Do" list to break down what I need to get done before we take off. One thing is already taken care of...clean the bedroom! Awesome. I even got all the laundry done today. I felt all productive.
Anyway, that's all for now! I'll keep you posted on any new developments.

Congrats on finding your shark dive paperwork! 51 Disney movies, wow! I am slowly building my collection, a couple years ago I joined the WD Movie Club so I have been steadily building, when I can afford it. Mostly bdays and holidays! LOL
That is cool that your luggage all goes inside itself. I had a full set of luggage that Gram gave me before she passed (it was hers) now I am missing a piece bc my sister gave my brother one suitcase when he was moving back to tx. Wth?? Why didn't she give him hers?? Oh well, I didn't want to start trouble so I just said okay....
Hoping for good news for David tomorrow !!! I am hoping for whatever makes Davids shoulder feel better!
I have been holding myself back from doing any more. I am driving myself crazy!! I have my pack list from last year which I just copied and deleted what I didn't need, so that is done. I have no room in my house for the luggage (it is stored at sis's next town over in the attic), so I will get that the week before I leave. Day planners are made... the only thing I really have left to do...print out all the stuff I need. Now, I just OCD read this forum, to get my WDW fix!

Actually I'll be in WDW in September 2011 - I was under the impression that you were both planning trips next year as well.
Hope David's doctor appointment went well today!
We are both hoping for a bounceback offer while there this year. I can't speak for Jess, but for me what dates I'll be there all depends on the bounceback. I am hoping it is for Sept. and prolly the second week. I would love to get together next year all of us as well though, if we are all there at the same time! That would be cool, and then too my DD will be there.
