The “Hurt So Good” TR or How You Can Feel Bad and Still Feel Good - UPDATED 10/17 COMPLETE!! - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Mexico was up next (another cool boat ride awaited.) Actually, we hadn’t visited inside the pyramid last trip and were anxious to look around San Angel Inn and the marketplace. We were all entranced with beautiful Mexican evening and bright, colorful wares. Kevin modeled a dressy sombrero for us. This is a video capture as he was saying in his perfect Spanish accent, “Buenos Dias Senoritas.” I think he looks native.
(I think they were trying to stay out of the sun, too!)
Now we had to go back and pick up the countries we had skipped earlier. After a quick stop for Cokes and ice tea, we were on our way to Canada. Canada is another country we didn’t explore too much last trip. I sighed as we passed the entrance to Le Cellier…
(We saw a bit of Off Kilter...)
United Kingdom is probably our second favorite country in Epcot. Cory’s third mission was here. Kevin was getting exhausted, so he and Kelley browsed the shops and waited on a bench.
While we were on our KP mission, I noticed Alice was having a meet in the garden area. Cory was too intent on her adventure to stand in line, but suddenly Alice came skipping out of the garden all on her own. Everyone watched her march over to Yorkshire County Fish Shop and stop, hands on hips, to demand whether the CM had seen any white rabbits come by. They had a very lively conversation – and this was the first time I’ve ever seen a character go around on their own at the parks.
I never did get to see what happened next as Cory was off at a trot down the street; her last clue was very difficult – and we were getting frustrated. Luckily, Kevin set us in the right direction.
After that, Kevin put a ban on helping Kim with any more tasks. I think Cory was ready to give it up too at that point. But KP was definitely fun while it lasted.
I pointed out the way to the International Gateway as we went by, hoping my description of the Boardwalk might entice them over there…but no luck that day. I’ll have to plan that into our schedule next trip.
The girls were excited to get to France and look for their parasols. And lo and behold, there they were at a little cart right as you entered! They were the same parasols we had seen at MK. We encouraged the girls to look inside the shops first in case they saw something they liked better.
We also spotted Sleeping Beauty holding court under a shady tree. She was only the second character we had seen all day –and the first Photopass photographer was with her. It was a very short line, so we went to meet her. As hot as it was, she looked very cool and calm and was very sweet with the girls.
Kelley and Cory decided they wanted the parasols at the cart. Kelley chose red (her favorite color) and Cory chose pink (her used-to-be favorite color) and both were very pleased with their purchases. So was I, so I didn’t have to keep saying, “Get out of the sun.”
We also saw The Beast out greeting folks – but no Belle, so the girls weren’t interested.
Our ADR for Teppan Edo was fast approaching as we rounded Morocco. Jasmine was now out for her meet and greet – we had lots of interaction with her last trip, so the girls decided to bypass it.
As it wasn’t quite time for dinner, we walked on to the American Adventure and watched the Fife and Drums performing – but there was little shade and we were frying! So hot, in fact, that we decided to just show up early for our ADR – at least it would be cool while we were waiting!
UP NEXT : “Dou itashi mashite” and ‘The Girls’ On Their Own
Great updates! The parasols are so pretty. Cathy, I hear ya about the heat. I could not get over how bloomin' hot it was. Geez! We felt like we were frying. I really didn't like it, and it made it not quite as fun. I hope it's better in a couple of weeks.
Looks like a great time wandering the WS but that heat really can do you in. We had a very humid day when we were there and while the little one had no care the older ones definitely kept looking for the shade. Love the girls parisols. Can't wait to hear about dinner.
Just caught up again. Your relaxing day sounded wonderful, restful yet you still got around and did a few things. Today sounds great too, I'm loving your pictures and reading about your time at Epcot. Can't wait to hear how you like Teppan Edo, we loved it!
Great day exploring World Showcase! (even if it was HOT). Can't wait to hear about Teppan Edu, it was one of our faves last year! Love the pics of the girls with their parasols! I would like to get one for my daughter when we go next month- if you don't mind me asking; how much were they?
Can't wait to hear more......
What an awesome start to the day - I don't like the sound of the next installment though...

Sounds like you got a lot done in that first hour or so - I love Epcot at that time becuase you can really just grab FP's and bounce over to TT. Can't wait to hear about the girls and their "mission" and your afternoon at the WS.

Thank you! It was definitely another Magic Moment for this trip. Can you believe that for a split second I thought about saying 'no' - I was afraid I'd miss getting to Soarin' on time! But just for a split second, mind you!
Loving your trip report. Can't wait to hear what you thought of the KP adventure. I had quite enough of it after DS did a couple of countries.
I thought it was a very fun but time-consuming activity. If we had a free afternoon to spend at Epcot and we'd already seen everything we wanted, I'd probably say: do it! Otherwise...well, you know what I mean. But Cory enjoyed it.
I really loved Raglan Road and especially Ger's Bread and Butter Pudding! The music was wonderful, too.
I'm enjoying your trip report and looking forward to the next update.
Thank you! I love Ger's Bread and Butter Pudding, too. I've tried duplicating it at home, but I just can't get anything close to those sauces.

The girls love those parasols, too. I only wish we had found them earlier in the day.
As for price, I think they were about $12.00. You could have them personalized with pictures or your name for an additional price, but the girls wanted theirs without decoration.
