Is That a Raincloud Over My Head? EMTPEJ's Land & Sea Adventure **Updated 10/28** - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Episode 8: Wed. 7/16/08 - Morning. A Breakfast With Best Friends.
So I got up early (again) and got some coffee and did some wandering of the resort after I started the laundry.
Oh, and I finally finished the FGM cards…
It looked like one of the resort launch Capt’s was practicing or being tested.
Well, I finally got the family to wake up, with the lure being the best friends breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. Once you check in, your server comes out to escort you and explain about the serving, which is family style.
The waffle maker at Ohana was Cila from Haiti.
Our cousin server was Cindy. Uncle Kenny really liked the lilikoi juice, but David didn’t care for it. I though it was great! Those mickey waffles are about as big as David’s head! Just kidding!
They bring out eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes and biscuits. If you run out of anything, they bring you more, if you ask. Some might find this annoying, but I think it cuts down on waste.
The characters came around after a parade, so we got plenty of time with Hawaiian Mickey, Pluto, Lilo, and of Course, Stitch!
We finally said Aloha to our 'Ohana friends and headed out to Epcot.
Got some photos on the way in on the monorail. We had taken the resort monorail all the way around to the TTC as we did not want to have Kendra too tuckered out from the get-go, with her ankle, and all.
I did manage to pin trade (my first time) with a Disney exec on the way around and I got a nifty Muppets Swedish Chef! He was one of my dear ol' dad's favorites!
When we got to Epcot, guess what? It WASN’T raining!
While in line, I saw this guy’s shirt. I wonder why I never see any gals with intriguing shirts? Oh, well!
Goal: A dream with a deadline.
We went to visit Spaceship Earth and the wait was not too long. The ride was fine and the boys did very well at the secret agent driving game (surprise surprise) maybe they should make them a little more challenging for the video game generation.
We walked to the Club Cool and everyone tried all the available beverages. I don’t know what the big deal about Beverly is, I thought she was just fine! David, however, might disagree.
We started heading over towards Mexico. We stopped off at the pavilion to try a ride on the wild boat ride with the three Caballeros and the crazy bird. We were looking forward to this as we had been sticking to pretty gentle rides but we all had a favorite bird. It was OK and so we did a little shopping in the eternal twilight of the market, where Kendra got a few trinket$. As the boys like Mexican food (their experience primarily consisting of Taco Bell), we stopped off to get them some at the cantina and discovered that David did not care for their version of the chicken quesadilla. As only nachos were not going to be enough, Kendra decided she would go on ahead with him to the Outpost and get him something else to eat. I figured it was high time for a frosty margarita, and was it good!
Kenny, Tim, and I strolled over to Norway and figured we would give the dreaded Maelstrom a whirl. Why does it even have FPs? It was an OK travelogue of Norway and you do go backwards, but yeesh! At least it is cool in there!
I got some photos of the band that was there at Norway…
They look a lot like a polka band...
As soon as the doors opened, we dashed out of there as Kendra had been calling to find out what we were doing (she had gone shopping in China – go figure). We trotted over and met up with her and David and then took advantage of Germany’s restrooms. After that, I took advantage of the proximity to the Italian kiosk and got an Italian Margharita, as there was no wait. This drink was soooo good! And it was not just because it was a FB on a hot day, it was very tasty and my favorite beverage, so far.
We pressed on past American Adventure, as Kendra was suddenly on a mi$$ion to buy $omething in France. While she was otherwise engaged, I finished my drink and since we were in France already, I just HAD to try a Grand Mariner Slush, purely for research purposes, I assure you! (hic)
I think that the Italian Margharita is better, IMHO, as a former professional bartender, of course. Completely in the name of science! So you won’t think I’m some sort of a lush, I kept records with my camera:
Margarita at San Angel Cantina: 1:40 PM
Italian Margarita – Italian Patina Kiosk: 2:27 PM
Grand Marina Slush – France stand: 2:37 PM
So that was only three drinks in two hours! I’m not too much of a lush!
For some reason, after all the $hopping she did, Kendra was getting tired and so wanted to go back to the hotel and rest and stay, instead of going over to DHS for our H&V / Fantasmic package. So we started heading back to the Poly. Wouldn’t you know, Off Kilter was performing?
Oh, well, I guess we can get enough of that sort of thing at the Celtic Festival…So we took the monorail to the TTC and she decided that she was OK to walk back to the room, instead of transferring to the resort monorail.

I cancelled the ADR at H&V and made one for dinner at Kona for 8:30 which was very late for my family, so we went and got flatbread (pizza) from Capt. Cook's and a couple of Dole Whips (which we had never had before then – I know, I have wasted my life!) to tide us over until later. That was about 4 or 5 pm, by then. I also had me a spot o’ rum in my trusty resort mug, savvy?
I took Tim to the MK so that he could get the hat and also something from the stand near the HM that he wanted, I could get the hat I wanted and I could also get a T-shirt that someone requested through passporter. We were able to find a pirate bandanna with Mickey ears for Tim at The Chapeau on Main St. USA, but nothing for me. Then we went to the HM kiosk / cart and got Tim his HM glow in the dark playing cards, then we went over to the Pirates Bazaar over next to PotC to find this t-shirt with Mickey and Pluto as pirates. As we cut through the short cut to Agrabah, I looked in there to see if they had the hat I was looking for as it seemed to be an adventuresome place. They did, but I decided we should press on to get the promised T-shirt.
While at the Pirate’s Bazaar, I noticed this young lady, and I thought she looked like Pirate King Elizabeth Swann, don’t you? (Of course, without the tan...) I don’t think she really agreed… Her name was Phillipine, from Lorient, France.
I had success locating the t-shirt. I tried to pay with my KTTW card, but WTH? Can’t find it?? So I used my Disney Visa, which is not what I had intended. But, thanks to passporter tips I was prepared and not too flustered or angry with Murphy. Figuring that I had left it over at the HM kiosk, we hot-footed it over there to discover that it was NOT there. And wouldn’t you know, it started raining, again? Well, as all good passporters know, when you have a problem like that, you go over to guest services and in this case the nearest one was by the entrance, in ‘city hall’. So, we hot-foot it over there, dodging raindrops (from my self-perpetuating rain cloud) and were issued a replacement, right away, and I ask if there were any charges, and there were not so I breathed a sigh of relief. Oddly, the boys never lost theirs during the whole trip, but I had removed charging privileges from their KTTWs, anyway. So, we then had to trot back to Agrabah Market in Adventureland to FINALLY get my hat, which now it was raining a bit more, came in very handy.
As it was getting darker, we had to head back to get ready for dinner, so we bid adieu to the MK for now and hopped on the monorail for the trip back to the Poly. While we were out, Kendra had started doing a little packing in preparation for our departure.
And I had me a spot of rum. And it was good to be out of the rain. Savvy?
We dined at Kona. We got the duck pot stickers and shrimp tempura maki (roll) for appetizer. Kenny got a (surprise) pina colada and Kendra and Dave got the pirates punch with Hook and Tink glowing figurines…
The Kona island sushi bar menu is available for appetizers. The Kona Café is Asian fusion style. Reba was our server. We were seated very close to the show / dessert display bar. I was kind of surprised that there did not seem to be much joy among the diners that evening. They all seemed to be taking things much too seriously. We, however, were looking forward to embarking on our cruise the following morning and so were a little giddy (or maybe it was the rum? -- eh, doesn't matter). I had the shrimp and scallops, which was misleading name, and everybody else had the teriyaki beef, except David who had the hotdog. Ya gotta love Disney dining – something for everyone!
For dessert, we enjoyed the Kids ice cream sundae, chocolate crème brulee, white chocolate cheesecake, coconut crème kiki tart, and a Kilauea Torte. It was good the dessert was included in the DP as they were all very small in size, but big in taste!
We went out and watched Wishes again, later and did some packing of the van for our departure tomorrow for the Wonder!
Today the weather was: Cloudy & humid and at a little rain. The best thing about today was: Trying the FABs in World Showcase! The worst thing about today was: Not getting to DHS and canceling the Fantasmic package. The funniest thing about today was: The CM that was embarrassed to be compared with a pirate! Today we tried: The Best Friends Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. And the result was: A great time was had by all. The most magical moment today was: Getting the T-shirt I was looking for to help out a fellow parent with a Disney-loving child.
Next up: Episode 10: Will That Raincloud Pursue Us to the Port?
Your dinner sure looked yummy. Oh yeah, and you might want to redo your math: first drink at 1:40 - third drink at 2:37 - that's less than one hour. But hey, you weren't driving and were in the happiest place on earth - who cares!
Very good. I took notes on the FAB's. Too bad about the Fantasmic Dinner and Show. We loved it, and thought it was a good way to relax after dinner. Now on with the cruise!
