Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

A great day at AK. I agree with you about the construction. If it leads to a better experience in the park I'll deal with it for now. It is a lot at once, though. Sorry you only saw a teensy bit of a tiger, but they have more now so maybe you'll be luckier on your next visit. Poor kid being sick at Disney! I don't understand why they couldn't find any take-out food! The BW bakery was closed? AND the hot dog cart? AND the pool bar? That's not good!

Great day at Animal Kingdom! I'd thought about how much construction there will at the Studios when we go next month, but I hadn't thought about the same thing applying at Animal Kingdom - at least now I'm prepared, having seen your photos.

Great AK day! I personally love Primeval Whirl and finally DS#1 was able to ride it with me this past trip. We had a similar experience with food at BW too.

Still very much enjoying your TR, and I think these "surprise" days are my favorite so far. I really need to get in a better spot with AK. My last visit was on the 3rd of 3 days. Enjoyed both your coverage of FLK and MJT.

You were able to get a lot done at AK! Sangria at Pizzafari? I didn't know that but now I'm taking a mental note, yum!

They didn't want anything from the bakery and he said the cart only took cash. They ended up having ice cream for dinner from B&C

The electronic boards with the waiting times makes waiting a little better. At least then, you aren't just wondering.

This is the only time we've ever "under" ordered from Garden Grocer. Usually we at least have enough snacks.

I think when it opens as an evening park, a lot more people will like it instead of just tolerate it as a half-day park.

*********************
(Hi Everyone! Sorry about the lapse. Here we go again...)

September 14, 2014 Sunday

We had no special plans for today, I was just pleased as punch at being able to turn 45 while in Disney World . We purposely stayed at an Epcot resort so that we could be within walking distance (or boating distance) from the park. We also stayed at Boardwalk so that during the day, so Dh could walk back to the resort and catch from football - it was a Sunday after all... We had no ADRs, but I knew I wanted my "special meal" to be at Les Halles in France for breakfast. We got to the International Gateway just before opening at 8:57am according to my photo time stamp. It was another beautiful morning, but it was going to be hot today.

We could see the Characters in Flight balloon at DTD

It was so pretty in the World Showcase that we just spent some time taking pictures. I had to "autocorrect" many of the pics that I took because it was so sunny and bright and I think my iphone's shutter/aperture combo thing was overcompensating. We walked over to France (I just love saying that!) and went into Les Halles Boulangerie et Patisserie. I have to put it that way because I know a little high school French and my kids were wowed when I told them where we were having breakfast. They made me say it over and over, lol.

Ahhhh Paris... Well it almost felt like I was back in Paris so many moons ago. I really thought I knew what I wanted to order until I got there. Everyone else had no idea at all. Dh and Max got the Roule au Fromage, Titus got the Jambon Beurre, and I decided on the Quiche Lorraine. For drinks, the kids got Chocolat Chaud, Dh got jus d'orange, and I got a cappuccino. Everything was delicious. Dh said his tasted like a bacon and cheese roll, which is exactly what it was Titus only took a few bites - it's hard to get that kid to eat more than a few bites in the morning! I wrapped up his sandwich and held onto it for later. I was very happy leaving out of there.

Yummy!

The kids wanted to ride Test Track so we meandered over to Future World. It was still only around 9:40am and with the exception of a few other guests and some cast members it was only us walking around. It was an awesome feeling practically having the place to ourselves.

I heard that the red phone booths in Britain are few and far between these days. I think that's sad, but I'm glad they're represented here!

The wait time was pretty short compared to the week before. I submitted my actual time: 11 minutes at 9:56am. I love going to Disney in September! Here are some more TT pics...

I liked this part of the queue where the kids are imagining the future car they'd design

Our car

The kids' design

"WOOOOOOO!"

ditto!

We didn't win, but we beat the kids' score, yay! lol. Function over style guys

We had to take the obligatory cool car photo on the way out We had FPs for Mission Space for later in the evening, but at the time there was only a 10 minute wait so off we went. The kids had been building up their fear and gumption to ride the orange side this time. When Max was younger he had motion sickness but it seems to have passed. He was ready to take a chance and Titus the Adrenaline Junky was right there with him. Dh and I didn't feel like getting dizzy, so we went on the (wimpy but safe) green side. There was only a 5 minute wait for the orange side.

Our intrepid heroes return to Earth safely! "That was SO awesome!"

We had never experienced Ellen's Energy Adventure. There was no wait as a show was just about to start. I didn't know much about it but that it had Ellen and dinosaurs. Sounded fun to me

Welllll... Let's just say that I thought it was interesting and a nice sit-down. The others weren't so impressed. (Another one and done.) I wanted to ride Maelstrom next. I can't remember if I knew that it was closing then... I think so. But at any rate, we had never been on that one either. I knew that it was a dark ride, but that's about it. After it was over, I kind of wondered what all the hubbub was about. The kids had studied Scandinavia and Vikings at home, and it would've been nice for it to be longer.

After all of that "edutainment", it was time for a nice cold one. Dh was ready to go back to the room for some Sunday football, me and the kids would stay out a little longer.

A little stop in China

This was good! "Plum Wine Slushy" I'm not sure that's the name, but I loved it. At first it was kind of weird, but every sip after that was more and more delicious!

The kids wanted to browse Mitsukoshi so we wandered over there next.

Max thoroughly enjoyed this. What did it taste like? "Tastes like 'Murrica".

Titus loves this hat! Believe me, it was money well spent.

It wasn't that crowded, but I waited a few minutes so I could take this without anyone walking through.

I'm a history/museum buff, so I looked at these for a bit.

Fun to watch. I might try it one day

Dh left us before we went into Japan. I was surprised the boys didn't want anything. It was a combination of too many choices and not wanting to spend their own money I was so busy I didn't get anything for myself! I really wanted another set of chopsticks, but oh well, maybe next time We were ready to go back to the room to relax and get out of the heat. I just love taking the boat "home"!

Next: even more fun at Epcot!
