For the plans they are a changin’ TR - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a lovely, full and diverse morning!! No wonder you had to ice your feet!! This update posted great to facebook as well. Was it hard to get photos into the TR there?
Yes, icing my feel became a routine most afternoons!
Not too hard to get the photos in FB TR. Just a different procedure, getting them from your computer rather that Flickr. Cheryl posted directions and they were very helpful. I wouldn’t have been able to figure it out otherwise.

Finally signing on to your TR Donna! It certainly sounds like this trip was a hot and humid one for you both. I agree with you not being thrilled with your Boardwalk view on the first floor and the long walk to it wasn't so good either. Your tour at Epcot sounded really interesting although the rat encounter would have totally freaked me out! Your dinners all looked delicious and how nice that you were able to enjoy the Moonlight Madness evening at DHS. I have been finding the lines are bad at all the parks as of late. Looks like you had a fun day at MK!

Thanks for joining in Linda! Definitely hot and humid!
The tour was awesome. We both really enjoyed it. The rat, not so much.
I think lines are something we are going to have to contend with from now on, even in the so called slow season.
I responded to the latest update on Facebook, but forgot to mention that you got a really great photo at HoP! Then I noticed Linda's comment about the rat, and remembered that I thought of you last night as we watched the evening news. There was a report on how rats are taking over in Paris.

Yes, I thought the shot of George Washington from HoP was pretty good! I am really enjoying the new zoom lens, and I have you to thank for the idea!
How funny that you thought of me last night while watching the news!
Not funny that rats are taking over Paris. There are stories locally of various towns near us that are having rat problems and it really creeps me out thinking about it!
Great pictures from Disney Springs and Epcot! Glad you enjoyed your dinner and we’re able to change your Spuce Road Table ADR! Great pictures from MK as well. Sorry you got so wet on Splash! How great you’ve been able to add in some downtime in the afternoons!

Thanks Marnie!
We’ve always been lucky on Splash, just getting a little wet.
But we found out that when you’re in the front of the log, the water comes up and over the side...and onto the seat. . Jeff told me afterwards that he was sitting forward a bit so when the water pooled up in the back of the seat he didn’t get wet.
I guess it didn’t occur to him to share that tidbit of information with me!
We left for AK about 4:15. A bus came along in 5 minutes and we pulled into AK 5 minutes later!
We took a restroom break and waited for a couple PP ops.
Then we checked into Tiffins.
They texted us a few minutes later and we were seated in the Trek Gallery. The hostess was telling us about the different rooms on the way to the table, but unfortunately, as she was ahead of us, we couldn’t hear a word she said.
Our server was Diane. She was pleasant, very knowledgeable about both the regular and the wine menus and very friendly.
We had the RoL package, which included an appetizer, entrée and dessert, along with a bread course.
We ordered drinks first. Jeff got a glass of red wine and I got the Lamu Libation.
The bread was a faccocia with pomegranate molasses. Jeff said it was ok. The GF bread offering tasted kind of like pringles. I googled it and found out it’s called Papadum.
For appetizer Jeff had charred octopus and I had peaches and cream - Masumoto Peaches, Burrata Cheese, Heirloom Tomatoes, Peach-Maple Reduction, Salted-Pecan Brittle. Both very good!
For entrée Jeff had surf and turf and I had beef tenderloin
I guess I didn't upload the surf and turf picture.
For dessert Jeff had the whipped cheesecake and I had the passion fruit tapioca crème. Jeff had questioned whether the cheesecake would be too heavy after this big meal and Diane said no, it’s whipped and piped onto the plate. Well, when this came out we had to hold our laughter. Not what we were picturing at all! Of course it was delicious, just not what we were expecting!
After dinner we walked around Pandora for a while.
I told Jeff about the downed airplane that was hidden somewhere and before long he spotted it.
Then, we walked around the tree of life trails for a bit and then through Africa, Asia and around to the dining entrance for RoL. The amphitheater was already starting to fill up and they asked us to move all the way in. We realized these benches are really close together. With the temps still very warm, and the way we were packed in, it was pretty stifling!
But the show was very enjoyable.
After the show we made our way out of the park. The Tree of Life Awakenings was showing but we decided to keep up with the crowd and didn’t see much of it. We waited a bit for a bus and ended up being the last 2 people on a very crowded bus…like Jeff was standing next to the bus driver!
Funny aside here - Jeff noticed that a family next to us at Tiffins ended up sitting near us at RoL, and then the same family was on the AKL bus.
We got back to our room and relaxed a bit before bed.
The weather today was – hot and humid
The best thing today was – a very productive morning at MK
The worst thing was – The huge mob at bag check for MK and being packed in at RoL
The funniest thing today was – Jeff thinking the cheesecake would be to heavy
Today we tried – Tiffins
And the result was – a delicious dinner!
The most magical moment today was – catching the Dapper Dan’s just before leaving MK

Very nice update! Loved you PP photos as some really good ones. I got to look for that plane in Pandora next time as well camouflaged. It may be in one of my photos as easy to miss! Nice meal at Tiffin's and I have enjoyed my two dinners there. The first time I had the octopus as Jeff did and was exceptional! Glad you enjoyed ROL as such a good show. Funny, with that family by running into them three consecutive times!

I remember Cam saying the plane was really hidden so I wasnt too optimistic that we'd see it in all the lush plant life, but Jeff has a good eye for those things.
