Star Wars Weekends: Episode IV - New Hope(s) May/June 2012 - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Happy planning!
Sorry to hear that! It's only the weekend - he could go do something else.

Have you hear anything about any schedulled events for SWW? Just curious as I haven't had much time to be on the computer lately. Congrats on the additions to your ADR's!
Hope your boys are feeling better soon.
Haven't heard anything. DH said he heard a rumor that Ashley Eckstein may there every weekend, so likely she's the host.

I swear this PTR is so different from all my other ones as I don’t have much in the planning to write about. I’ll share what we did over the weekend – enjoying this weather we’ve been having and then I’ll share airfare stuff so it can actually relate to the trip this time.
Again, another busy weekend. Friday night we had dinner at my Mom’s (Dad was up at the farm) with my brother and his wife (Kevin & Becki) and just hung out.
Saturday was the first soccer game for the spring season at 9am. Dylan scored his first goal!!! And I missed it. I was watching Lukas. After the game we stopped by Bread co (oh sorry – Panera Bread) with my Mom & Kevin who had come to the game. Then we went to my cousin’s son’s 1st birthday party where Mickey was a special guest! Dylan loved him, Lukas not so much. This doesn’t look so good for all the character meals we have planned. Oh well! Later on we went to visit Mike’s parents and went to the playground.
Sunday was church then we went to the Museum of Transportation and Ted Drewe’s (frozen custard) for dinner.
Now on to trip stuff:
As soon as dates were released for the trip I went to Southwest.com. I think only the flight out was available as dates into June hadn’t been released just yet. We each had a $112 credit from airfare going down for our September trip so I used that to book our outgoing flight as we had to fly before the end of May to use the credits – another reason why the start of the trip was booked when it was. I paid $7.70 per ticket (3) for outgoing flights. Score! Lukas is still under 2 and therefore will be a lap baby. I wish I would’ve waited because by the time our return flights were released prices had dropped and I wouldn’t have had to pay anything. Oh well! So now that return flights were out I booked that and used a $25 SW gift card I’d gotten from my coke rewards. Out of pocket I paid $297.20 for our round trip flights. Not too shabby for 3 tickets!
And now flight info:
We are departing STL at 6:35am and are due to arrive at MCO at 9:50am and will travel to AKL via DME.
We leave MCO at 3:35pm and are due back in STL at 5:00pm. I’m banking on a 12 or 12:30pm DME pick-up.
We almost always take the 1st flight out and the last flight back and we did for outgoing but the return isn’t as we all have to return to normal life the next day and this will give us time to eat dinner and get a normal bedtime in.
Han Solo: Han Solo. I'm captain of the Millennium Falcon. Chewie here tells me you're lookin' for passage to the Alderaan system? Obi-Wan: Yes indeed, if it's a fast ship. Han Solo: Fast ship? You've never heard of the Millennium Falcon? Obi-Wan: Should I have? Han Solo: It's the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. I've outrun Imperial starships. Not the local bulk cruisers mind you, I'm talking about the big Corellian ships now. She's fast enough for you old man. What's the cargo? Obi-Wan: Only passengers. Myself, the boy, two droids... and no questions asked. Han Solo: [chuckles] What is it? Some kind of local trouble? Obi-Wan: Let's just say we'd like to avoid any Imperial entanglements.
I figured I’d have something about the Millennium Falcon since we were talking about flying. Mike used to have a bumper sticker that said something like ‘My other transport is the Millennium Falcon’.

I did get a new credit, but since they expire befoer we can use them it was useless - it's all based on the original purchase date which was last May. Wish I did though because September pricese keep going up.

Definitely! Wish I could get the same deal for September.

We picked up Asher's at the Adidas outlet in Myrtle Beach during New Years weekend. We went down there for our anniversary and found those on sale and couldn't pass them up. He needed new shoes and we knew he would love those.
Great photos from the weekend! Lukas seems to be at the age when you can practically see him growing as you watch. Congrats to Dylan on his first goal!
Great deal on the airfare. I am still waiting for SW to release dates in November as we are planning on Thanksgiving week. Great pics of the boys....I love Sundays after church where you can just relax and enjoy the time together as a family
