Spooky Foodie Fun - TR from Adventurous Stranger!! - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

You certainly toured most of the Food and Wine Festival booths that day - some great offerings too by the sound of it. Sorry about the drinks early on in the day though.
What no Kimchi in Kofea. Never had Bagoogi without it Reading about all the food have to take another look F&WF as an option if we go back (Sorry no spoiler here) Hopefully poor Emily's liver was in training to keep up with yoiu
Those last two days sounded great. I love how you made your own football party. And I'll try to be home next time you visit me. Also, after all that F&WF talk, I need a snack.

Your pics make it look like it wasn't crowded at Epcot, did you find that it was busy?
I love all your pictures with the characters they turned out cute! I'm hoping one day I can drag my crew through there.
I have been to Raglan Rd once and loved the food and the atmosphere. I had gotten a DeSerorno Amoretto (SP?) to sip before dinner and after dinner I got a coffee and added the rest of the liquor and a little cream to it and it was the best I have had. It might have been a Sunday night, because there wasn't music or dancers. I'm Irish so I would have loved to see them, I plan to try again next trip.
Waking up on our last full day was bittersweet. This was really and truly a vacation. We had packed in so much so far and yet still had tons of down time. We didn't set alarms and didn't plan on making any rope drops but we did - sorta.
We made it to World Showcase rope drop! I didn't really think they did that when you entered thru IG but they do! It was absolutely wonderful being at the F&WF when it first opened (we highly recommend it!) Our goal for this last trip around Epcot was finishing all the booths at the festival.
So without further ado, here's the final half dozen....
Look closely at the gentleman on the right, he was singing his heart out at 11am!! I picked up a Harissa Chicken Roll and it was my second fave item of the festival behind the Griddled Cheese from Greece. We sat across the way by the cafe enjoying our treats and the CM's singing.
Making our way around a pretty empty WS, we stopped for some "we are enjoying this way too much" pics
As we approached the American Adventure, we noticed the Fife & Drum Corps had just begun. I had yet to see them and they were awesome!!!
When they had finished, they announced that the Voices of Liberty were about to begin their first performance of the day so we quickly grabbed a seat on the floor as they entered.
Doesn't the woman in the center look like she should have Stitch popping out of the ground in a Magic Photopass shot???
Afterwards, we hung out with them and discovered they do 7 performances per day and each one showcases different songs. We then entered the theatre to watch the show. It still gives me goosebumps after all these years!
We then stopped by the Outpost and I talked Em into opening the Coca Cola cooler but it was more of a dribble then a squirt and it ended up being funnier than if she had gotten spit at right in the eye! We also checked out the beads made from old guidemaps which are very cool but I'm not sure if I'd ever wear them.

We then stopped at New Zealand and tried some Scallops with Kumara Red Curry Puree and Apple Radish Salad with the Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc. I'm not a scallop fan, it was really the rest of the dish that made me order it and I actually ended up liking everything!
We made a quick stop at the Cheese booth so I could get my cheese fix with the Artisian Cheese Selection.
We then stopped off at the Caribbean booth where I tried the Ropa Vieja (braised beef) and we both got the Frozen Coconut Mojito. Both were pretty tasty and we took a break by the Odyssey to enjoy the Mojito slowly.
Directly next door was Argentina where I skipped food and went for a Terraras Reserva Torrontes wine.
Our last and final booth left on the list was Desserts & Champagne where I paid $12 for a delish sample of Moet & Chandon Ice imperial which will not be available stateside until January. It was the perfect ending to the best F&WF I've been to in years!!
With our Passports completed, we went back to the festival center to have the completed stamp. I also picked up a messenger bag made from last years F&WF banners. It' super sweet with the 15 on the front.
We left Epcot for the last time of the trip and went back to the room for some more packing. That's when I noticed the shirt I had purchased at MNSSHP had a rather large hole along the seam of the sleeve. I figured I just exchange it at the Emporium when I picked up the backpack special.
And for the last time, we took a nap in those heavenly beds.

Naps and packing behind us, we headed to MK. Once we arrived we almost passed out - it was CROWDED. I mean, similar to summertime crowded. I didn't understand and I still don't. We posed for our last PP photo of the trip.
I also took a few shots of Main Street done up for Halloween
Funny, doesn't look that crowded in the pics but trust me it was because all the people were in line for POTC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We first stopped in Emporium to exchange my shirt and the first thing the CM asked me was for my tix to MNSSHP. Why would I still have my tix with me??? I showed him my credit card reciept that showed the time and date and my name - proof I was in attendance at the party the previous Thursday. He was not convinced and I told him it was our last day, how else would I get the tshirt and what was wrong with the cc rec. that had the same info as my ticket?? He said he'd check if they had anymore shirts in the back and left in a huff.
Meanwhile, I asked another CM about the backpack. He told me that I would only be able to get that item if I had purchased the $40 worth of merchandise in a store that offered the backpack. I explained that I bought more that $40 at the hotel but they only had a dufflebag and was told i could show my receipt and get the backpack. He again said it wouldn't be possible so I asked him to confirm with a manager. The woman at the next register said she was a manager and I said it wasn't a good trip for souvies since my umbrella broke the day I purchased it, the shirt had a hole in it and now I was getting grief about a backpack. She said (not to me but the CM) give it to her since she's had some problems. Lady, you have no idea what kind of problems I have, I was just stating the quality of merchandise has been pretty poor lately.
Well, I'll have you know, I got a new shirt and I put it in my backpack and was a happy camper. We then made a bee line for Pirates.
I mean, the line was out the door and around the queue. We got in line which moved quickly but not as quick as the folks behind us because they kept trying to cut in front of us by going through our butts! I was getting really aggravated. They stepped on our feet, ran into us, basically butt hugging as I call it. The last straw was when we rounded a corner and the Mom pushed her two kids around Em's left and tried to squeeze past the family in front of us. I lost it. I went Uh, uh, uh!!! and then growled at them. I mean, a low growl that told them you try that one more time and I will eat you like the witch from Hansel n Gretel. No lie. I never was so glad to get in that boat and luckily, the ran for the front of the boat - yeah, no listening to the CM to go into the next line, they did what they wanted. Wish they went overboard.
We tried for the Jungle Cruise but the wait was outrageous. We were nowhere near a Tiki Bird show so we headed to BTMRR for a FastPass and then some food. We stopped in Columbia Harbor House but didn't see anything that we liked or hadn't had that week (Em was like, I can't have lobster rolls again) so we went to Pinocchio's Village Haus along with EVERYONE else. Due to a bunch of folks following the person in front of them instead of surveying their surroundings, we got up to the register rather quickly. I went crazy with Tomato Basil Soup, a Mediterranean Salad and Bread Sticks.
Belly's full, we took a spin on the Carrousel. I told Em to follow me because I was going for Cindy's horse.
I let her ride the steed with the yellow ribbon on the tail and I sat the larger horse on the outside
Next we took in the next showing of Philarmagic - we had to sit way in the front it was so crowded!!
Our FPs were good so we walked over to BTMRR and lucked out with the front row!! We rode the whole ride hands in the air - screaming and laughing our heads off. It was hilarious!!!!!!!
We then cut thru Liberty Square to catch The Magic, Memories & You at the hub. It was a nightmare over there. People were packing in, it was hot and the CMs kept screaming to keep the walkways clear. By that point there weren't any walkways and it was awful. The show was fantastic though!
As Wishes approached, more people were cramming into the area and the pushing started. We were moved at least 10 feet from where we were for MM&Y. As the first booms went off, the heat became oppressive and there were a few moments I thought I was going to collapse. I've never seen it that bad, ever. I did manage to get a few good shots in
I was so smushed I didn't notice that Fred had come back to see us one more time and he was at the entrance watching the fireworks from there. We decided to meet at the baby care station and that turned out to be a bad idea. it took us longer to get from the hub, over the bridge, down CPs porch and over the the baby station than it did for Fred to make it down Main Street, thru Casey's to the baby station.
It was at this point they made the announcement that the park was going to stay open another hour than originally posted. We happened to have this info already thanks to Touring Plans app on my phone. We also checked the line times and noticed HM was a walk on. We skipped the interactive queue and the three of us squeezed into one doombuggy and got our heads smacked by a hitchiking ghost at the end.
Next stop was unanimous - SPACE MOUNTAIN!!! We had about a 20 minute wait but it was worth it. Again, I made a silly face when the ride photo went off so when we disembarked and took a look at the pic, we were bent over double laughing!!! As went went out the exit we were talking about how cool it would be to ride again but it was just about closing and the CMs were giving us a mean look. Just as we were about to walk away, a gent handed us 3 FPs!!!!!!!!!! One more spin through space! This time we all made funny faces. I really should have taken a photo of them. Poop.
The park was closed at this point to we made our way to the entrance and Em and I took the bus back while Fred took his car (he has a two seater that's why we didn't all drive back). Back in the room, we turned on Silence of the Lambs but we probably fell asleep around midnite. Poor Fred had to be to work in Tampa at 5 so he woke up at 3:30. Our alarm went off at 6am.
We showered and quickly packed the rest of our stuff so we could grab breakfast at Picabu. We printed up our boarding passes at the travel center in the lobby and slowly made our way outside to the shuttle bus stop.
Our pickup time was 7:10 and he was there at 7:05. We waited until 7:12 for the third passenger but he/she didn't show. Note to self, don't be late for a Mears Shuttle!!
We breezed thru security and boarded on time. The flight was a little bumpy but we made it home in a little over an hour. Jennie was right outside baggage claim to pick us up and return us to reality.
